At A Glance An intimate camp of 10-12 tents Ndutu: 01 Dec 31 Mar Remains mobile to access ideal locations for migration viewing Bush breakfasts and Bush dinners under the stars upon request Charging facilities for electronics / selected phone networks available Nearest Airstrips: Ndutu OR Lobo (Bologonja) Located in the Ngorongoro Conservation, bordering the southern Serengeti plains, Ndutu thrives with wildlife especially December through to March annually. The multiple land use philosophy in the area is to maintain the peaceful co-existence of human and wildlife in a natural and traditional setting. Pastoralism, conservation of natural resources and tourism are the three, main components that are given equal consideration in policy shaping decisions. The NCA aims for the historic balance of people and nature in a way which has not been possible in many parts of the world. At stake are the rich bio diversity and ecology of the Serengeti Plains and

. and The Ngorongoro Highlands, the major palaeontological and archaeological sites and important water catchment areas. Tourism is a vital element in raising revenue and has been encouraged and developed with a respect for culture and without damaging the environment. Man and his ancestors have lived in the Ngorongoro eco-system for more than three million years. Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek form shallow basins where water accumulates from the nearby areas of slightly higher altitude. The water in both lakes are extremely saline, too saline for human consumption. Lake Ndutu becomes alive with animals during the migration because it is surrounded by the Ndutu woodlands and the short grass plains, which provide ample cover and food, especially during the calving season between late January to late February. Bologonja: 01 Jul 31 Oct Serengeti is generally recognised as the major wildlife reserve in the world. It contains the world's largest herds of hoofed animals in the wild. The park is particularly known for the migration of about one million brindled wildebeests and zebras. viewed in their hundreds of thousands in the northern areas around Bologonja which offers close proximity to the gauntlet of the northern river crossings. Their migration is as old as the history of mankind. For many millenniums the wildebeest followed the rains and used the Serengeti ecosystem with its mosaic of grasslands and savannas to their advantage. Every one who has a chance to see nearly two million animals on the move has been touched by the magic of this place. Even so the wildebeest looks a bit like a clown and, according to an African legend, has been put together by God using left over spare parts, the animal is superbly fit for its migratory lifestyle. The wildebeest spent the rainy season from December to June in the volcanic open plains below the Ngorongoro Crater where the grass growth is most productive and nutrient contents high. It is here that the calves are born.

Calving season is short and the predators cannot make a dent in the new-borns with such a sudden surge of food. When the monsoon rains stop in June, the plains dry out and the wildebeest move west towards Lake Victoria in search of pasture and rains. The plains become a harsh and dry semi-desert in which no wildebeest could survive. Only through migration can the wildebeest and zebra use the widespread resources of the ecosystem and build up such large numbers. Following der rainfalls the migration moves on to the north, into the Masai Mara, where the rift wall catches the last rains even in the middle of the dry season. With the onset of the monsoon rains in December the wildebeest move back into the lush Serengeti plains.

About The Camp Positioned in carefully selected campsites within the national park and conversation area boundaries, Nasikia Mobile Camp is in ideal locations for migration game viewing. Both camp establishments are revelled by lovers of the great outdoors and designed to be affordable while still being able to offer those creature comforts we all look forward to after a long day of game driving under the African sun. Sit by the open camp fire, drink in hand as the sun sets and our cook prepares delicious camp food under the endless night skies. Fly in, fly our game packages along with drive in safaris make the camp very accessible. Each tent is 12m long by 4m wide made from well known heavy duty safari rip-stop canvas and imported from South Africa. The tents are side or front facing and you are met at the entrance by a patio area with chairs and a table for relaxing when you have a moment. The front of the tents zips fully open, including a layer of mosquito netting and the rip-stop canvas (it also zips closed completely with both layers). Once you step into the tent into the bedroom area, you will see an arrangement of furniture like a storage chest (with extra blankets), matting, wardrobe, luggage rack, torch/whistle/camp information folder, bedside tables and beds. All the fittings depict colours in natural and tones to adhere to the intrinsic area we are located. We offer double, twin, single, triple and family (quad) tents and each bed is fully netted for custom made protection from mosquitoes and insects. The beds are fitted with imported cotton sheets, double pillows, duvets and bed runners for your comfort. The tents have netted windows down each side of the tent which you can fully open only the canvas remaining at all times with the mosquito netting stitched strongly into the actual tent. We have sewn lightweight curtains and hung them along each side of the tent for privacy and also just to watch as they romantically sway in the breeze. Then comes the bathroom area, which can be accessed directly from the bedroom with a separate zip up area if required. Once inside, there is a bathroom stand with a ceramic wash basin with running water via stylish taps, a mirror, a supply of natural based bathroom products and linen. Also in this area is a ceramic flushing toilet, encased in a wooden frame for stability. The shower area has a 40 litre shower bucket put up on a pulley system as you require it is enough for a shower for two. From the entrance to the bedroom and onto the bathroom, each tent is fitted with an extensive solar lighting system for your convenience. Please remember to consider the careful and responsible use of water and lighting when at the camp, to extend accessibility for all. For charging electrical equipment, we run a generator in the evenings for the dining and lounge tents. Activities Optional or Additional Activities Available from Camp: 4x4 trails to Gol/Olkarien Gorge/Oldupai Gorge/Shifting Sands/Lakes Ndutu & Masek and calving season activity (Ndutu), 4x4 trails to Mara & Bologonja River Crossings (Bologonja), game packages, bird watching, glamping, game viewing, hot air ballooning, walking/hiking in designated areas only or total relaxation.
