The machines are easy to use, but you must have your wits about you too. Safety is stressed by the staff and all were made comfortable with proper clothing. From Þórsmörk, it is possible to view the volcano that recently erupted in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Our first stop is at the Icelandic horse visitor centre that offers something for everyone, whether you want to meet the Icelandic horses close up, enjoy the exhibition about the horses throughout history, or simply want to enjoy a cup of coffee in the cafe. On the way, we make a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall to walk behind the waterfall and at a small glacial lagoon. Many glacial rivers have to be crossed on the way to Þórsmörk, which is situated in a valley south of Iceland, surrounded by three glaciers and mountains, which create favourable growing condition for the over 170 plant species you can find in the area. The route passes through Þjórsárdalur valley and crosses lava fields from different eras, small rivers and volcanic craters, which make up a unique lunar-type landscape.
