KS3 KIDZANIA POST-VISIT LESSON PLAN INTRODUCTION The lesson content acts as a reflection on your visit to KidZania as well as meeting the key aims of the English Curriculum, Careers Guidance, the Computing Curriculum and P.H.S.E. Programme of Study. The resources will encourage students to utilise a variety of analytical skills and confirm their understanding of the key principles in line with curriculum standards. These activities are designed to help your students to reflect on and appreciate the learn, earn and spend fun and interest in the KidZania experience and to begin to evaluate their own skills and aptitudes. They will carry out a variety of self-evaluation tasks, research career aspirations online and produce a C.V. to help them to achieve their goals. This will build on the KidZania experience and help them to make informed choices when decided on their G.C.S.E. options. There are three lessons which are one hour each. KS3 KIDZANIA POST-VISIT LESSON PLAN LESSON 1 Starter Powerpoint slide 2 A visit to KidZania helps students to realise their ambitions what they would like to do in their working life in the future. Their visit has given them a taster of different careers available and has helped to develop their ambition to achieve their goals and dreams. Thought shower all the different job roles that they experienced at KidZania. Ask what kind of skills and abilities are required to carry out those jobs? (For example, to be a dentist, they need to know about science and the human body). 5 mins Powerpoint slide 3 Explain to the students that they are going to be thinking about themselves and evaluate their skills and areas for improvement. They are going to examine their abilities and interests and write about what they learned about themselves during their visit to KidZania. 20 mins Powerpoint slide 4 All About Me Spider Diagram Worksheet Ask the students to think about their visit to KidZania and the impact is had on their school work, ambitions and goals. They should create a mind map about themselves. They should then write a paragraph about themselves and what they learned about themselves during their visit to KidZania. 20 mins Powerpoint slide 5 My Skills Worksheet Students will evaluate and audit their skills for success and then come up with strategies to improve and develop. They will recognise that success depends of understanding what is required and acting upon this knowledge. 5 mins PLENARY Students should discuss in pairs their main learnings about their trip to KidZania. What inspired them the most? How are they going to build on the trip to give them the greatest success possible?

KS3 KIDZANIA POST-VISIT LESSON PLAN LESSON 2 Starter Recap the previous lesson, asking children to talk with a partner about their favourite activity during their visit to KidZania. 50 mins Powerpoint slide 7 Computing Activity Pupils will play the Careers Game on the PLOTR website: https://www.plotr.co.uk They will then research different careers that interest them. They will build on their experience at KidZania and use this session to research the pathways to the careers that they have sampled at KidZania. This will inform them about option choices for G.C.S.E. They will also use this research session to support their learning in the next lesson, where they will write their own Personal Profiles and C.V. s.

KS3 KIDZANIA POST-VISIT LESSON PLAN LESSON 3 20 mins Powerpoint slide 9 Personal Profile Worksheet Ask students to fill in the personal profile worksheet as this will be the first paragraph of their C.V. They can work in pairs in order to develop greater understanding about their skills and attributes and will use discussion and collaboration to write a comprehensive and impressive personal profile statement. 30 mins Powerpoint slide 10 How to write a C.V. Worksheet Students will combine their personal profile and the C.V. worksheet, to create a professional C.V. to support their careers choices of the future. The worksheet provides a step by step guide to achieving success in writing a C.V. which is suitable for any job applications in the future. 10 mins PLENARY Students will share tips about how they created their C.V. If possible, the C.V. s should be shown to Form Tutors or the Head Teacher. Additional Powerpoint slide 11 Activity Remind the students about their visit to KidZania and ask them to remember their favourite activity and the skills required to do it. Ask the students to write down on a piece of paper the job they would like to do when they are older and why. Put the paper in a sealed envelope and keep the envelopes until the end of the school year. You can then give the envelopes back to the students and they can take them home to keep safe and look at when they are older. Alternatively, you could send them to KidZania as a record of their visit.
