22. HISTORICAL SOCIETIES IN QUEENSLAND In 1974 the.john Oxley Library published a listing of Queensland Historical Societies. Since that time many new societies have been formed requiring a revision of that list. Many researchers have found this list very useful, especially the names of office bearers, times of opening of Museums, and frequency of meetings. It is the intention to publish annually in the John Oxley Journal an updated list. It would be appreciated If societies would complete the questionnaire at the end of this list and return it to the Editor so that a more detailed list can be published in 1981. The list is not exhaustive and any additions of new societies will be welcome. The assistance of the Queensland Museum in compiling this list is gratefully acknowledged.
