20 TH ANNIVERSARY GOLF TOURNAMENT HELD ON 10/3/13 AT TOUR 18 Kirt Mays, on the right above in the photo on the left, the Haslet Fire Chief and former CareFlite Flight Medic started the tournament 20 years ago and has continued to help since. Above left is Chris Betscher FP-C who is Chair of the Tournament. The golf tournament would not be possible without the support of the sponsors who are shown above right. Registration went smoothly thanks to the work of the team shown above left. On the right is the commemorative coin given to each player including a ball marker (smaller heart above)..
Fuelman sponsored a putting contest using their 4 foot yard stick (which each contestant kept). This contest raised over $500. Shown above and below are a few of the creative techniques used in this contest.
OUT AND ABOUT OCTOBER PR EVENTS October is one of the busiest months for PR events. Included below are photos from some of those events. It is not comprehensive given the large number of events CareFlite covered during the month. This year CareFlite was the title sponsor of this wonderful bike race held in Somervell County each October. NORTHLAKE S NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 10/1/13 N142CF from CareFlite s Denton Air Base had the honors of covering this event.
I took some pictures at National Night Out in Northlake last night and I've attached these showing the CareFlite's booth and helicopter. Had a terrific crowd in attendance. Everyone, adults and children alike especially loves when the helicopter lands and takes off. Let me be the first to extend a big thank you to CareFlite for providing a booth with information! It was a wonderful evening for all. Even the Sheriff of Denton County Will Travis stopped by to visit with the PD and FIRE/EMS personnel and residents. A good night all the way around! Shirley Rogers, Town Secretary OTHER NATIONAL NIGHTS OUT Colleyville Roanoke Southern Methodist University CareFlite s Mounted Equine EMS Team provided EMS coverage for the Trinity Trail Riders and Preservation Association at Lake Lavon celebrating National Parks Day. This association works to maintain and improve the Trinity Trail.
TWO OTHER PR S ON OCTOBER 12, 2013 Above Left: Eva Zuniga from Membership working CareFlite s booth at the Trophy Club Fire Department open house. Above Right: Bell Helicopter held its fall family event at its facility in Hurst the same day. CareFlite was represented by a Mid Cities based ground ambulance staffed by Elizabeth Lieter LP and Jace Trammel EMT as well as an information booth staffed by Jennifer Sam. MASS CASUALTY TRAINING AT OWEN OIL TOOLS IN GODLEY, TEXAS During October, CareFlite participated in Mass Casualty Training at Owen Oil Tools in Godley. The employees at Owen Oil Tools are all covered by the Caring-Heart Membership Program. The experience last spring in West, Texas reminded EMS agencies across the nation of the importance of practicing for such an event.
ALLEN HIGH SCHOOL HEALTH OCCUATIONS STUDENT ASSOCIATION CareFlite supported Allen High School visiting with their Health Occupations Student Association which includes Nurse Assistant, Pharm Tech, and EMT students. Thanks to Kyle Parsons FP-C and Diana Jones RN CEN, as well as Brad Roberson ATP for a great PR event. Thanks to Shaun Scott CFRN, EMT-P for the photos.
SPIRIT OF DFW WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES AT DFW Each year American Airlines holds an employee appreciation day at DFW. As the pictures show below, CareFlite brought our aircraft and a ground ambulance as well as having memberships available. This year the airline closed gates C31-39 to the public on 10/24. Ours were the only vehicles on display. They also cook hamburgers and hot dogs on the ramp (to the right of the picture below) and have a DJ blasting music. Note the United jet taxiing out behind the Bell 222. This is a huge event attended by thousands of employees. There were so many people, that additional supplies had to be taken up to the airport during the day. Thanks to Michael Derfler, Membership Program Manager, for working diligently year round with American s various employee groups to grow the membership and to have us included in this annual event. Thanks to the Membership Office staff led by Laura Thompson for staffing this event. The fixed wing was towed into the gate area by AA as if it were a transport jet. Thanks to everyone who worked this all day event on the ramp or at our table.

CAREFLITE 407GX DISPLAYED AT AIR MEDICAL TRANSPORT CONFERENCE IN VIRGINIA BEACH OCTOBER 20 th 23 rd The first of our new Bell 407GX aircraft was displayed by Bell at the Air Medical Transport Conference in Virginia Beach October 20 23. The three hearts painted on the aircraft (both sides plus the nose) change colors as the aircraft flies in the daylight as a result of using very special paint. CareFlite was represented at AMTC by Sheila Calvert, Chris Betscher, Matt Chrest, Rhett Draehn, Teresa Campbell, Chris Boss, Jan Cody, Ashley Dussell and James C. Swartz. Come see this new, state of the art, EMS helicopter at CareFlite s display at the 2013 Texas EMS Conference.
The avionics are state of the art. Here is a view of the interior. The CareFlite heart was sewn into the seats. Due to the government shutdown, we were delayed in securing the necessary paperwork to begin flying our first Bell 407GX. As a result, the aircraft was moved to and from AMTC by truck. HEART ASSOCIATION WALK 10/26/13 Saturday started cool, damp and dark at 7am as the set up took place for the 2013 American Heart Association Denton Heart Walk. CareFlite supported the effort as shown below at the UNT Discovery Park in Denton. Paramedics Patrick Weston and Arlie Austin brought our Denton based ambulance to the event. Ed Dail ATP, Russ King CFRN and Chad Burns FP-C brought the Denton helicopter.
