This pretty little white village perched on top of a 120 metre gorge has to be seen to be believed, mixing a quaint and historic village with jaw dropping views - be sure to have your camera ready for the first of many stunning photographs. From there we will take the short drive to Marbella and visit the famous marina of Puerto Banus where the rich and famous keep their million dollar yachts. After checking into our hotel, and a few hours rest, we will head out for an unforgettable Tapas Night in Sotogrande. Overnight Sotogrande - 4* Hotel DAY 2 TUESDAY - ALCAIDESA LINKS GOLF COURSE Our golfing adventure begins with the short trip to the Alcaidesa Links course designed by Peter Allis and Clive Clan. Powers of concentration are needed as this challenging course is made somewhat more difficult by the distracting views of the straits of Gibraltar and the coast lines of North Africa. The course winds along the coast, sloping gently to the Mediterranean sea and ending at a stunning beach. With a length of 5,886 metres this par 72 course can be made trickier by any prevailing winds. DAY 3 WEDNESDAY - GIBRALTAR We take in our second country today as we visit the British Colony of Gibraltar known as The Rock. Gibraltar may be tiny (just 6.8 square km) but it has plenty to offer. We will take a trip up the Rock to meet the famous Maccak Apes (the only wild monkeys in Europe) and take in the incredible views of the Straits of Gibraltar and Spain. The expression you can see for miles has never been more true! DAYS 3 & 4 - GIBRALTAR, JEREZ, SEVILLE Gibraltar is home to a thriving Jewish community and we will visit the beautiful synagogues and meet with local representatives. Historically there has been a Jewish presence in Gibraltar for more than 650 years and significantly the Jews of Gibraltar have faced almost no official anti-semitism during their time in the city. We will also have a little time for shopping on the famous Main St. DAY 4 THURSDAY - JEREZ & SEVILLE Overnight: Sotogrande - 4* Hotel On our way to Jerez, we will drive through the Ruta del Toro - the way of the Bulls - where we will see the farms where the famous Black bulls are bred for bullfighting. Jerez, the 5th Biggest Andalusia city, is famous for its dancing horses and for its Sherry so we will enjoy a private horse show and a sherry tasting before heading off to wonderful Seville. Our hotel for the night is located right in the centre of this historic city. Seville offers visitors an incredible mix of architectural statements shaped by more than 1,300 years of history. Throughout the city, opulent buildings tell the story of the invaders, successors and conquerors. In the evening we can explore the city as it comes to life and enjoy a Flamenco show. Traditional Spanish cooking has popular roots. Most of it is down-to-earth, uncomplicated food, based on seasonal or local ingredients. Passionate chefs have taken many of these traditional recipes and given them a more modern feel creating a gourmet cuisine with regional influences. DAYS 5 & 6 - SEVILLE, CORDOBA, GRANADA DAY 5 FRIDAY - SEVILLE & CORDOBA We will visit the Cathedral, Plaza De Espana and the City centre with our Guide Moises who will both tell us the history of these buildings, which have given Seville its UNESCO status, and recount the incredible story of the Jews in Seville before and after the inquisition. We will have time to explore other parts of Seville before continuing to our next destination, Cordoba. In the evening we will have a walking tour in Cordoba, birthplace of the Rambam, Maimonides, and learn about his life. The few physical testimonies that remain will be augmented by articles from noted historians, and brought alive by readings from historical novels. Cordoba was for many hundreds of years a place where Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together in relative peace. DAY 6 SATURDAY - GRANADA Overnight: Cordoba 5* Hotel Granada was inhabited by Jews from the earliest times; hence it was also called "Villa de Judios". Set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range this historic city offers us a day of multi-faith culture. The long-time capital of Moorish Andalusia offers beautiful gardens traditional charming narrow streets and intriguing passage ways filled with flowers. The city is easy to explore by foot so we can visit the Alhambra Palace, the Albacin and the many smaller historic sites around the city center. There are also a number of traditional taverns in Granada where we can stop for tapas and a cold beer or sangria. In the evening we will have dinner in one of the traditional cave dwellings accompanied by an authentic flamenco show. The history of Spanish Jewry dates back at least two thousand years to when the Romans destroyed the Second Temple in Jerusalem, and brought Jews with them back to Europe. Since that time, the Jews of Spain (also known as Sephardim) have experienced times of great oppression and hardship, as well as periods of unprecedented growth and renewal. Today the Jewish community in Spain is small - numbering approximately 12,000 - but growing, and the Jewish contributions to the nation and their influence on Spanish culture is still very much alive. DAYS 7, 8 & 9 - TWO DAYS OF GOLF & MOROCCO DAY 7 SUNDAY - SAN ROQUE GOLF CLUB Designed in 1990 by Dave Thomas and Tony Jacklin, and updated in 2005 by Seve Ballesteros, the par-72 6,494 metre San Roque Club is in the three top-ranked golf courses on the Costa del Sol. Set amid cork trees this undulating course allegedly cost $1 million a hole to build and has hosted several professional tournaments. A true test of your skills awaits, and a fantastic golfing experience. DAY 8 MONDAY - MOROCCO The area is famous for its hundreds of beaches to be enjoyed along this coast, from quiet, hidden coves to busy and trendy stretches of sand with fashionable beach clubs populated by celebrities and beautiful people from all over the world. One of the most popular pastimes on the Costa is golf there are over 70 golf courses in the area, with stunning mountain and clifftop locations, offering spectacular views over the area s varied landscapes, and down to the sea. Costa del Sol has a very pleasant micro-climate, with warm summers, mild winters and remarkably little rain. From Sotogrande it is just a short trip down to Tarifa where we will catch the fast ferry through the Straits of Gibraltar over to Africa and the ancient port of Tangiers in Morocco. We will explore historic caves and old synagogues, but the day will also offer a taste of a different culture in this vibrant and bustling city A visit to Tangiers isn't complete without a trip to the aromatic market famous for its fresh spices and here we will lunch in an authentic local restaurant. After a full day of adventure we will make our way back to Spain on the ferry. DAY 9 TUESDAY - VALDERRAMA GOLF CLUB Home to the Volvo Masters for many year and the famous Ryder Cup Valderrama is regarded as the best course in continental Europe. Designed by Robert Trent this 6,390 metre par 71 course is known as the "Augusta of Europe". Normally an elite members only club the Yaya Travel Group offer you the opportunity to play this historic masterpiece and walk the fairways that golfing legends have walked. DAY 10 WEDNESDAY - MALAGA Today we will visit Malaga and no trip to this thriving city is complete without investigating it's favourite son, Pablo Ruiz Picasso. His birthplace, at Plaza de la Merced is really interesting as it recreates the atmosphere of a typical family home at the end of the 19th century, where Picasso lived as a child. Just some few steps further we are really in the middle of the former Jewish district, the Juderia. The Carmen Thyssen Art Museum is also a must see where the main focus is 19th - century Spanish painting, housed in a stunning converted 16th - century building. We will also have time for some last minute shopping, maybe for that special gift or a keepsake from your memorable holiday.
