TREKKING EXPEDITION 4D CIRCUIT - MOUNTAINS FJORD This 4 days trekking expedition begins in Resi fjord, and crosses to the Mountains fjord through a pass created by the strong erosion of a gone glacier. We go through a beautiful valley that is characterized by evergreen forests, waterfalls, peatland, erratic rocks and moraines just colonized by lichens and mosses. We trek by imposing mountains with huge walls and whimsical shapes until we arrive to the thunder lagoon, where we begin an uphill on a rock wall till the "thunder's pass". When we get to cross to the other side, it will be possible to admire the magnitude of the Mountains fjord and the majestic Sarmiento mountain range with its summits covered by ice that feeds many hanging glaciers and six main glaciers that flow down to the fjord. We'll have a such a hallucinative panoramic view of the fjord that it'll make it seem tiny surrounded by huge mountains and glaciers that rise in the horizon. We'll spend the first two nights in our campsites Resi and Kiara, where we have expedition tents and a Dome as shelter after a great day of trekking, and it's also our kitchen and dinning room. On the third day we ll arrive to enjoy the comfort of our exclusive floating refuge Explorador. We ll take our boat West Patagonia to navigate until the Bernal glacier, which gives us the chance to watch all its beauty while we hike along colorful moraines and cross the pro-glacier lake, being possible to get to touch its ice. During the expedition our local guide will share information about different subjects, so we can learn about the landscape, its formation and the powerful ancestral cultural history of the area. Finally we go back to Puerto Natales hiking through an Indian pass known as Alacalufes path, same name that was given to the canoeist ancestors Kaweshkar who used this pass to connect the Mountains fjords with the Resi fjord. Once in Resi, we go back the same way we did to arrive the first day: we navigate one hour in our fast boat Explorador IV until Antonio Varas peninsula. Afterward we continue one hour by car on a gravel road until the ferry that will take us across the Señoret channel to arrive to Natales.

DAY 1 - Resi fjord We pick up the participants of the expedition from the Hotel at 10:00 hours, then we take a ferry to go from Puerto Natales to Antonio Varas peninsula across the Señoret channel. We continue by car for 1 hour through a gravel road to the embarking spot, where we ll have lunch. Afterward we take our fast boat Explorador IV and navigate for one hour until the end of the Resi fjord. Here we have our first campsite with expedition tents and a Dome as shelter while we are at the camp along is our kitchen and the dinning room. During the navigation it is posible to watch seals, dolphins, penguins, cormorants, condors, and other species. If the weather conditions were favorable and lets us arrive early to camp, we ll go trekking in the surrounding to watch and appreciate the beauty of the area. We finish the day in our Camp Resi with a tasty dinner in our dome. Camp Resi - Double Tents 45 km - 1 hr Road / 20 nm - 1hr Navigation / 4 km - 2 hrs Trekking DAY 2 - Thunder pass After breakfast we begin our trekking circuit. We go 8 kilometers through a beautiful valley characterized by evergreen forests, waterfalls, peatland, erratic rocks and moraines colonized by lichens and mosses. We trek for about 4 hours by imposing mountains with whimsical shapes until we arrive to the thunder lagoon, which is surrounded by huge rock walls that looks like an amphitheater. The powerful action of a gone glacier has transformed one of these rock walls into a natural pass that makes it possible to trek uphill terraces through the Thunder pass till the Mountains fjord. We will enjoy our boxed lunch some where with a nice view. From the pass it's possible to see some of the summits cover by ice that belong to the Sarmiento mountain range. We continue through moraines and erotic blocks passing by two beautiful lagoons until we finally have a clear view of the entire fjord that appears tiny surrounded by huge mountains and glaciers in the horizon.

From here, the terrain is more rocky and solid than the first section, making it easier to trek down towards our campsite Kiara, where we also have a Dome for shelter and to enjoy of another rich dinner with an exclusive panoramic view as our camp is located in front of Kiara glacier which is very active and it's possible to hear and watch ice avalanches breaking off the hanging glaciers at the other side of the fjord. Camp Kiara / Double Tents 16 km - 8 hrs Trekking DAY 3 - Glaciares from the Mountains fjord We begin the day with a good breakfast. Then we start trekking from the camp heading to the north of the fjord a distance of 5 kilometers among rocks, evergreen forest, peatland and some rivers to cross. It will take us about 2 hours to arrive to a beautiful beach with a glacier in the background. Here we go uphill until we gain 300 meters of elevation, where we get an incredible panoramic lookout of the glaciers Alsina and Paredes, both falling down from the icy summits of the Sarmiento mountain range till the fjord itself. We'll have our boxed lunch at the lookout. We come back down the same way we went up. In the beach our boat West Patagonia awaits for us to take us to Bernal glacier navigating 30 minutes towards South in the Mountains' fjord. During the boat ride we'll pass close by the Alsina glacier, having a better perspective of this beautiful glacier with huge seracs. We disembark in the coast of the Bernal glacier and hike through a particular trail with colorful moraines that cross the pro-glacier lake, allowing us to get close and safe enough to touch its ice. This permits us to watch and understand its movements and changes that it makes in the landscape through the years. The contrast of colors between the vegetation, the ice, the mountains and the fjord in the background, makes any picture postcard worthy. After visiting this glacier, we navigate again in our boat West Patagonia another 10 minutes to the remote Huiros bay, where we will find our exclusive floating refuge Explorador. Here we can enjoy the facilities, a hot shower and a delicious parting dinner.. Floating Refuge Explorador / Double Rooms 9 km - 7 hrs Trekking / 12 nm - 40 min Navigation

DAY 4 - Alacalufes Path After a nice breakfast, we ll go out for a hike around the Huiros bay, to the "buena vista" lookout, an awesome last walk with an amazing view of the fjord, the mountains, the glaciers, the bay and the way we must take to go back to Puerto Natales. Later we begin the return by an Indian pass known as the Alacalufe path", named as the canoeist ancestors Kaweshkar who inhabited all the fjord lands in the last 5,000 years and used this pass to connect the Mountains fjord with the Resi fjord. We have to hike for 1 kilometer to reach the Acantilados lake, which is incased between huge rock walls, so it s only possible to go across by boat. In the lake we have our boat Acantilados, which takes 5 minutes of navigation to get to the other side where we have to hike another 20 minutes to reach the Resi fjord. Here we are back to the beginning point, so we embark again to our fast boat Explorador IV to navigate one hour until the Antonio Varas peninsula as the first day. We eat our lunch and continue until Puerto Natales, finishing this expedition around 15:00 hours, weather conditions permitting.
