Good Neighbor Club Newsletter October, November, December 2017 Betty Marthaler, Good Neighbor Club Director Dear Good Neighbor Club Members, As I write this letter, I think summer has passed, and I hope you each had a great one and were able to do many of the things you had on your bucket list. The Good Neighbor Club enjoyed 13 days traveling to the beautiful area of Alaska and while there we were fortunate to enjoy seeing the Northern Lights while cruising, which were spectacular. November many of our GNC Members will be enjoying our much anticipated trip to Peru including the Galapagos Cruise. You will find in this newsletter an insert for our upcoming trip to Jekyll Island, Savannah, and Charleston. I have requests to travel to places within our country where you don t need passports, so I have listed and booked this amazing trip. Sally will be playing at the Willmar location from 9 am to 4 pm so please, stop in and enjoy some treats and listen to her Christmas music. Good Neighbor Club Christmas Party Tuesday, December 19th Spicer American Legion Doors will open at 11:00 and broasted chicken dinner served at noon. Bachman s and Ridgedale Mall Wednesday, November 29th We are going to change up our Holiday experience and have the opportunity to view the Bachman Holiday House with a self-guided tour along with time to enjoy coffee and/or shopping at Bachman s. Our tour at Bachman s will begin at 9:30. We will then travel to the Ridgedale Mall and have time for shopping and enjoy lunch at one of their many eating establishments. Ridgedale Mall has completed a very large updating project and has added several new stores and food establishments. Featuring original music by 8 time Oscar winner Alan Menken. Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wanabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her away in the last place anyone would expect a convent! Set around the Christmas holiday, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she also rediscovers her own in a sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship. If you wish to donate cash it can be left at either of our bank locations along with gifts you may wish to donate. Clark, our bank President, matches all of our donations. These gifts will be distributed to children through the Food Shelf and the Link. On Thursday, we will be wrapping the gifts. It is being done a little earlier this year to facilitate the food shelf in distributing these gifts. All help in wrapping is appreciated. Coffee and treats will be served. The Texas Tenors Deep in the Heart of Christmas Paramount Center for the Arts St. Cloud Monday, December 11th; 1:30 pm Show If you have been to Branson, you more than likely have seen them perform, and I am sure you will wish to see them again! With their Emmy Award winning PBS special now airing across the country and Billboard chart-topping albuns, it is easy to see why The Texas Tenors are America s favorite new tenors. Since their whirlwind debut six years ago on NBC s America s Got Talent, they have accumulated a LONG list of awards and accolades. Our lunch will be Dutch Treat, and we will dine at Anton s in Waite Park, home of the famous popover. Christmas Centerpiece Day Friday, December 15th at 2:00 in the Good Neighbor Club Room in Willmar Our much anticipated flower arrangement day with Lake Bloomers Gwen and her staff will be here complete with vases and flowers for us to work our magic on while we enjoy coffee and Christmas treats. GNC Members: $15 Prospective: $25 Payment is due with reservation and space is limited. Sunny Palm Springs January 22nd-February 3rd Space is still available for our vacationing in the Oasis. We will be staying at the Palm Mountain Resort and Spa which is just steps away from the famed Palm Canyon Drive and across from the Palm Springs Art Museum. Highlights of our trip will include: Joshua Tree, Wine Country in Temecula, San Diego with Harbor Cruise, Getty Villa, Huntington Library and Gardens, Special Night at the Rat Pack House with dinner and entertainment, The Judy Show, and more! Japan Spring Flowers and Golden Cruise April 18th May 2nd Join your GNC Members as we fly to Tokyo and enjoy an evening at the comfortable airport hotel where we can relax and start to soak in the atmosphere of the Orient. We will board the beautiful Diamond Princess and begin our cruise. Some of our stops include the Kanmon Straits, which is the stretch of water separating two of Japan s four main islands. The second largest city in South Korea, Busan, is our gateway to a fascinating land whose culture is a unique amalgam of old and new. We will visit Saliminato, Kanazawa, Hakodate, and Aomori. Aomori derives much of its beauty from the apple orchards and cherry blossoms that encompass its landscape and the snow covered Hakkoda Mountains that look out from a distance. We will have additional time to spend in Tokyo and continue on to Kobe which is the fifth largest city in Japan before we transfer to the airport and fly home.
