BEFORE THE WEEK Saturday 5th May 2pm We are holding a Spring Fair on Saturday 5th May at Meresworth Care Home at Moneyhill Court WD3 7EJ. Starts at 2.00pm. We have entertainment, food and drinks. Come and see our wonderful home. Friday 11th May 5pm The Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year 2018 competition will be taking place this year. The Preliminary Round will take place on Friday 11 May, timings to be confirmed, approximately 5pm onwards. The Final Concert will be on Saturday 30 June at 7pm. DURING THE WEEK The Ricky Week Carnival Parade Saturday 12th May 11.30 The formal opening of the 64th Ricky week will be at Basing house, to include awarding our Ricky Champions. 12.30-12.45 Decorated Floats and other entries assemble on the southern side of the High Street between the railway bridge and St Joan of Arc School. 12.45-1.15 Judging of entries starts, with cups for different float and group types 1.30pm 1.30-5pm The parade moves off to the Bury Grounds via the High Street, Station Road, Northway, Church Street and Bury Lane. The collection along the route this year will be for the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust. Grand Carnival Fete in the Bury Grounds (Batchworth Sea Scouts) Barbeque, teas, many stalls and sideshows. District Cubs tug of war competition and other attractions. Saturday 12th May 7.30pm The annual Ricky Quiz will be held at St Mary s Church Centre on Saturday 12th May at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Church Office (01923 721002) at 10 each. This includes a Ploughman s Supper, cash bar and raffle prizes. Phoenix Morris, as part of Ricky Week, will be dancing at Basing Square Saturday the 12th of May from 11.30. The Feathers, Church Street, on Wednesday the 16th of May at 8pm Saturday and Sunday at the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust Festival. Phoenix Morris meet on Wednesday evenings at 8.15 at the Scout Hall, Ebury Road, Rickmansworth. A great way to keep fit and have fun in good company whilst keeping an old tradition alive. We are a mixed Cotswold Morris Side and always welcome new members who want to learn to dance or musicians who want to play for us. Sunday 13th May 2pm Visit The Withey Beds, a special Local Nature Reserve in Rickmansworth, as well as the beautiful lakes of the Watford Piscators. There will be a guided tour of both unique sites, where you will be able to learn more about how they are managed to care for wildlife. This free tour will meet at the Batchworth Lock Centre, 99 Church Street, Rickmansworth, WD3 1JD at 2pm on Sunday 13th May and will entail a 1.5 mile walk along the Ebury Way. Spot the Intruder During Ricky Week a number of local shops will be displaying an intruder which will also display a number corresponding to that against the name of the shop concerned in the list below. All are in the High Street unless otherwise stated. Describe the intruder as briefly as possible against the number and shop name, and send your entry to the Hon. Secretary of the Rickmansworth Society, Mrs Barbara Owen, 23 Copthorne Road, Croxley Green, Herts WD3 4AB, to reach her no later than 24th May 2018. Three prizes of vouchers in multiple of 1 (1st, 30 2nd 20 and 3rd 10) to be spent in any of the participating shops will be awarded for the first three correct (or almost so) entries opened.
