DescribehowyourprojecthascontributedtotheimplementationoftheCEPFinvestment strategysetoutintheecosystemprofile The awareness raising activities and popularization and development of nature?based birdwatching tourism in the area of Hutovo blato and Mostarsko blato are correlated to the investment priority 1.2 Raise awareness and influence the choices of the European tourist market and tourism businesses in favor of tourism practices appropriate for nature. The preservationofnaturalvaluesofhutovoblatoandmostarskoblatothroughtheinvolvementof themunicipalityofčapljinaandnumberoflocalngosiscorrelatedtotheinvestmentpriority3.2. EstablishmentofbirdmonitoringandmonitoringofpoachinginHutovoblato DuetotheproblemsinfinancingofprotectedareaHutovoblatoNaturepark,thebirdprotection andotherparkvalueshavebeenataverylowlevelforyears.byinvolvingnon?governmental organizationsthroughfundingtherangerservice,thesituationhassignificantlyimproved.the numberofbirdshasincreased,especiallyinthewinter,thelevelofthepoachinghasdecreased andtheawarenessoflocalhuntersontheimportanceoffightingthepoachinghasincreased.the supervision activities have continued through this project, so that the good results obtained during the previous periods will not be jeopardized. The support was provided to the ranger service through joint monitoring, purchase of equipment, workshop organization, and co? operationwithallparticipantstheareahuntingassociations,police,governmentinstitutions). Themonitoringofbirdsnumberandthemonitoringofillegalactivitieswereperformedevery month,andaspecialattentionwaspaidduringthemigrationperiod.theestablishedmonitoring protocolwasadoptedbytheparkadministration.accordingtothisprotocolitisnecessaryto continuemonitoringinthefuture. 2.! EstablishmentbirdmonitoringandmonitoringofpoachingonMostarskoblato. Mostarskoblatowasrecognizedasanextremelyimportantkarstpoljewithveryrichbiodiversity. However,thefullbiodiversityresearchhasnotbeensystematicallycarriedout,andthereareno clearindicatorsoftheconditionofthisarea.also,thisareahasnoprotectionstatusatlocal,state orinternationallevel.theactivitiesthathavebeencarriedoutbytheelectricalindustryforthe Templateversion:June28,2016 Page2of18

lastfewyearsrepresentasignificantthreattothedestructionofhabitatsandthespeciesthat inhabitthisarea.theinadequateprotectionhasalsoledtotheemergenceofillegalactivitiesby the local people. The inadequate use of space is a threat to total biodiversity. In order to determinetheconditionofthisarea,especiallythestatusofbirds,amonitoringprotocolwas established.theprotocolwasdevelopedbasedonthealreadyexistingprotocolforhutovoblato. As part of the festivals,theresearcharticleswerepublishedandthepromotionalactivitiesweredoneamong thelocalandwidercommunity,inordertoraiseawareness. 6.! OrganizationofexhibitiononMostarskoblato Since Mostarsko blato has no protection status at the moment, and in order to raise the awareness of the values of this area, an exhibition was created and opened during the Ornithofestival.Theexhibitionshowed,throughtextandpictures,themostuniquenaturalvalues ofmostarskoblato,butalsopointedoutthemostimmediatethreatstothisarea.theexhibition wassetupinširokibrijegandwasavailabletothepublicforafewdays.therepresentativesof theauthoritiesparticipatedintheopeningceremonyoftheexhibition.thisexhibitionisapartof futureeffortstoprotecttheareaofmostarskoblato. 7.! The teams were made up of members of the hunting organizations,thengo LijepaNaša andtwopersonsemployedontheproject.duringtheother days,twopersonsemployed100%ontheprojecthaveperformedtheroutinecontrols2?3hours perday).themonthlyreportswithlistsofrecordedbirdspeciesandtheirabundance,andalso thesituationofpoachingthenumberofregisteredpoachers,gunshots,catridges)wereregularly submitted. TheworkshopforrangersofHutovoblatoNatureParkwasorganizedontopicofneedsforbetter control of bird crime and protection of habitats and important bird species. The protocol for improvedmappingandcountingofselectedbirdspecieswaspresented.aftertheworkshop,the rangerscontinuedparticipatinginjointactions.theequipmentnecessaryforbettermonitoring ofbirdsandbirdcrimewaspurchasedandrepaired. The workshop for hunters from the region of Mostarsko blato, with the aim for better understandingofnaturalvaluesofthisareawasorganized.theworkshopwasattendedby30 participants. SixworkshopswereorganizedforstudentslivingintheareaofHutovoblatoandMostarskoblato. About350elementaryschoolstudents,fromfifthtoninthgrade,attendedtheworkshops.The workshopswereorganizedbothinschoolroomsandasanexcursionfieldworkshop)tohutovo blatoandmostarskoblato.theeducationalmaterialsweredevelopedfortheworkshops,and the awards for students were provided. For field workshops, the transport, food and refreshments, promotional materials and boat rides on Hutovo blato were provided. The workshops were organized on internationally important dates World Wetlands Day, World Migrationsday,etc.)Twoeducationaltablesweremadeandsetupintheschoolyards. AquestionnaireforthelocalcommunityofMostarskoblatowascreated.Thequestionswere related to the land use, needs of the local population, understanding the importance of conservationandsoon. TwoOrnithofestivalwasorganizedintheareasofHutovoblatoandMostarskoblato,withan emphasisontheneedtoprotectmostarskoblatoandstrengthentheprotectioninhutovoblato bydevelopinganewtouristicprogram.aspartoftheornithofestival,anexhibitionwassetup, showingthevaluesofmostarskoblatoaswellasthreatsandpressuresonitshabitatsandspecies. Allactivitieswerepresentedtothepublicinradioshows,portalsandnewspapers.Newsandshort articlesofprojectactivitiesweredisseminatedviawebsitesandfacebookpagesofprojectleader andpartnerorganizations. 6.! DescribethesuccessorchallengesoftheprojecttowardachievingitsshortEtermandlongE termimpacts The good cooperation with Public Institution Hutovo blato Nature Park and its rangers has continued, as well as with hunting organization Galeb. The collaboration with the local communityofmostarskoblatoschools,huntingassociations)hasbeenestablished. 7.! Werethereanyunexpectedimpactspositiveornegative)? ThepositiveunexpectedimpactwasthereactionoftheHuntingAssociationofHerzeg?Bosnia, and NGOs from the area of Mostar, who were very enthusiasticto engage in preventing of poachingandprotectionofbiodiversitythroughjointcooperationandactions. ApositiveimpactisalsothereactionandwillingnessoftheschoolfromMostarskoblatoandits employeesforco?operationandjointactivities. Thelackofco?operationwiththepowercompanyishighlightedasanegativeimpact.
