Photography Workshop with Charles Needle 2015 Tentative Workshop Itinerary * Monday, June 15 Individual group arrivals (Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris). Meet your privately arranged taxi service and transfer to the village of Giverny, about 1 hour and 15 mins away. Check into your charming French bed & breakfast hotel, right in the heart of the village. Relax and unpack before meeting at 5 pm for an informal welcome, introductions, orientation and slideshow. Group Welcome Dinner in Giverny (included in your workshop tuition). Tuesday, June 16 Photograph in Monet s Garden (a short stroll from your bed & breakfast hotel) from 7 to 9 am, before it opens to the public. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Explore and photograph in the village of Giverny. Visit the Museum of Impressionism Giverny or tour Monet s home and visit the Monet Foundation Gift Shop. Lunch on your own. Classroom lecture: Impressionistic Photography. Break/free time to edit and process images. Return to Monet s Garden in the evening to photograph from 6 to 7:45 pm after all the tourists have left. Charles will demonstrate some of the impressionistic camera techniques he described in his lecture. Group dinner in Giverny. Wednesday, June 17 Photograph in Monet s Garden again from 7 to 9 am, before it opens to the public. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Photograph the gardens at the Historic Hotel Baudy, which was a thriving center for American Impressionist painters during Monet s lifetime. You won t want to miss photographing the small 1887 artists atelier, behind the hotel, which remains intact just as artists, such as Renoir and Mary Cassatt, found it. Group lunch at the Hotel Baudy. Classroom lecture: Macro Photography Fundamentals. Break/free time to edit and process images. Return to Monet s Garden in the evening to photograph from 6 to 7:45 pm after all the tourists have left. Dinner on your own in Giverny. Thursday, June 18 Photograph in Monet s Garden again from 7 to 9 am, before it opens to the public (final morning shoot). Return to the hotel for breakfast. Classroom Demo: Multiple-Exposure Script. Break/ free time to edit and process images or photograph in the village of Giverny. Lunch on your own. Supportive Group Image Evaluations. Afternoon break/pack for England. Return to Monet s Garden for final evening shoot from 6 to 7:45 pm after all the tourists have left. Dinner on your own in Giverny.

2015 Monet s Garden & Great Gardens of Southern England workshop tentative itinerary Page 2 Friday, June 19 Breakfast at the hotel. Taxis depart for Gare du Nord in Paris. Board the 1:15 pm Eurostar train. Arrive Kings Cross St. Pancras International train station in London at 2:39 pm. (Lunch onboard train.) Transfer to the Mercure White Hart hotel in Salisbury, England by private coach with driver (approximately 2-hour drive). The White Hart is an elegant 4-star Georgian hotel located in the center of the historic city s shopping and entertainment district. Check into hotel. Evening free to explore and photograph the city s famous 13th century cathedral, just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Dinner in Salisbury. Saturday, June 20 Breakfast at the hotel. Photograph at Chiff-Chaffs, a privately-owned, terraced, quintessentially English cottage garden enclosed by a hedge and woodland garden. (If we are lucky, the owner, Mr. Potts, will pose for us in his Wellington boots, English beret hat and tweed jacket!) We ll also visit nearby Snape Cottage, a private hillside cottage garden with a huge variety of color and a wildlife pond. On our way back to Salisbury, time permitting, we will visit the picturesque Dorset villages of Shaftesbury or Sherbourne with cobble-stoned streets and 18th century cottages. Return to Salisbury. Free time/pack. Charles will be available for informal image reviews before dinner, time permitting. Dinner on your own. Sunday, June 21 Breakfast at the hotel, then check out. Drive by coach to Stuart Cottage (approximately 1 hr and 45 mins from Salisbury). Photograph at Stuart Cottage, a privately-owned half-acre partly walled garden planted to offer floral continuity throughout the seasons. In June, the romance of the rose walk at Stuart Cottage combines with the sound of water. Continue on to nearby Wisley, the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society. Lunch on your own at one of the garden s three restaurants and cafes. Photograph the richly planted and very colorful 400-foot borders (among the longest in Britain), rose gardens and state-of-the-art Glasshouse at Wisley until closing. Drive to Royal Tunbridge Wells (approximately 1 hour). Check into The Spa Hotel, an elegant 4-star country mansion hotel dating back to 1766, set in 14 acres of picturesque grounds on the edge of Tunbridge Wells. Dinner on your own.

Photograph at world-renowned Sissinghurst Castle Garden (appoximately 35 mins away), another historic and iconic English garden. With its famous tower, unique statuary and intimate color coordinated garden rooms, Sissinghurst was designed by the legendary poet and writer Vita Sackville-West and her diplomat and author husband, Harold Nicolson. The White Garden and Rose Garden will be particularly stunning in June. Lunch at Sissinghurst. Drive by coach to Great Dixter, the family home of gardener and gardening writer, Christopher Lloyd. Photograph inside the half-timbered historic house at Great Dixter and along its quaint, colorful pathways and borders after closing time (with no tourists present). Return to hotel. Farewell Dinner at Spa Hotel (included in your workshop tuition). Pack. Tuesday, June 23 Breakfast at hotel. Photography Workshop with Charles Needle June 15-23, 2015 Terms & Conditions This information is important. Please read it carefully. Submission of an online or printed Booking Form along with payment of required trip deposit indicates you have read and expressly agree to these Terms and Conditions. If there is something that you do not understand, please ask us about it! Reservations and Payments A deposit of $1,000 per person is required at the time of booking. Written confirmation will be provided upon receipt of this deposit. The balance of payment will be due no later than April 1, 2015. Number of Guests -- A maximum of 12 guests (plus the tour operator and assistant/driver) can be accommodated. A minimum of 10 guests is required to operate the workshop at the quoted price. Purchase of nonrefundable services outside of the trip itinerary (such as airline tickets) before the minimum number of guests have registered is at the sole risk and expense of the guest. Cancellations All cancellations must be made in writing. If you cancel before March 15, 2015, you will receive a full refund, minus a $500 processing fee. We apologize, no refunds for cancellations after March 15, 2015. As noted, final payment is due April 1, 2015 and is non-refundable. Accordingly we strongly recommended that you purchase appropriate trip cancellation insurance. We would be happy to provide you with a reputable third-party company in order to purchase cancellation insurance. Please be aware that many companies require that you must purchase trip cancellation insurance within 15 days of mailing your deposit check and booking form. Hotels Charles Needle Photography reserves the right to change any hotel due to any circumstance---the substitute will be of equal or higher quality. Airfare -- Airfare is not included in the package price. Please let us know if you would like help arranging flights. The workshop begins at 5 pm, Monday, June 15, 2015 and ends the evening of June 22, 2015. We suggest a US departure on June 14, 2015 for Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport and return flight to the US from London Heathrow Airport the morning of June 23, 2015. Please do not book any non-refundable airfare before March 15, 2015. Scheduled Activities Every effort will be made to provide such services as listed on your itinerary, but where unavoidable circumstances necessitate changes, the best substitute alternatives will be made at the discretion of Charles Needle Photography without financial compensation to workshop attendees. Physical Requirements This workshop will involve a small amount of walking for short distances of less than half a mile on flat ground (primarily while in the village of Giverny). You must be able to carry your camera gear on foot to/from Monet s Garden, and also while photographing in the various gardens in England. We will make every effort to accommodate special requests, but we will assume you are physically capable of walking these short distances. Service Fees, Tips & Taxes Today there are frequently service charges and taxes imposed by hotels, suppliers, and governments. These fees and taxes are included to the extent possible, but where pre-payment is not possible, the amounts concerned must be paid locally by workshop attendees. All tips and gratuities are not included and are left to your discretion. Baggage Charles Needle Photography is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to your baggage---travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect against loss. Guests are responsible for airline and governmentimposed baggage regulations and fees. Exclusions Your arrangements exclude baggage handling, excess baggage charges, items of a personal nature such as laundry, communication expenses, room service, meals not specified in your itinerary, gratuities to

drivers, optional sightseeing and other excursions, and any items not listed in your documents. Travel and Trip Cancellation Insurance We strongly recommend that you purchase Travel Insurance and would be happy to provide you with a reputable third-party company. Please be aware that many companies require that you must purchase trip cancellation insurance within 15 days of mailing your deposit check and booking form. They assume no responsibility or liability in connection with the service of any means of conveyance which may be used either whole or in part in the performance of its duty to the passenger. Likewise they will not be responsible for any act, error or omission or for any personal injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, irregularity or inconvenience which may be occasioned by reason of any defect in any vehicles, or through any act, neglect or default, or any company or person engaged in carrying out the purpose for which tickets or coupons are issued, whether negligent or not, including, but not limited to, any act of God, terrorism or war. In the event it becomes necessary or advisable for the comfort or well-being of passengers, or for any reason whatsoever, to alter itinerary or arrangements, such alterations may be made without penalty to Operator.
