Covesea Skerry Covesea Lighthouse, near Lossiemouth, Moray IV31 6SP I have pleasure in writing to you with additional information regarding your stay. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 3pm on day of arrival and that you vacate the property by 10am on day of departure. The keys to the property can be collected from a key box that is located above the key hole on the front door. The code to open the key box is 1945. On departure, please return the keys to the same place. The Property Manager is Mr Bernard Annikin and he can be contacted on either telephone 01343 812016/812274 or 07801 503 483. Visitors may wish to bring food supplies etc with them, but there are good shopping facilities available in Lossiemouth, The Coop supermarket is approximately 1 1 /2 miles away. For larger supermarkets, Elgin (6 miles) has a 24hr Tesco and a 24hr Asda. Lossiemouth has pubs and hotels to eat out in. A list can be found on the following pages. All bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided but you may wish to bring some extra towels with you and also towels for the beach (weather permitting!) bathmats are also provided. Please note cot bedding is not provided. As part of our health and safety risk assessment requirements, please could we remind you that smoking is not permitted in this property and candles should not be used. Our sanitation is by way of a septic tank. Only put Toilet Roll down the loo. Sanitary bags are provided. First aid boxes are not provided in any of our holiday accommodation. There are no telephones in the properties but they do have an excellent mobile reception. In the interests of health and hygiene pet owners are asked not to allow pets on any of the furniture. Please do not allow pets on the beds, or use kitchen utensils, plates etc for feeding pets. We would also be grateful if owners would use towels provided to dry pets and to wipe muddy paws before going back into the cottages. Pet owners must not exercise pets inside the lighthouse courtyard, but if accidents do occur please clean it up as soon as possible.
Please be aware that cancellation insurance is not included in the cost of your holiday and should you have to cancel for any reason a refund (less 30 administration fee) can only be made if the National Trust for Scotland is able to re-let the accommodation for the period concerned. If the Accommodation becomes inaccessible due to bad weather the National Trust for Scotland will take all reasonable steps to inform you and to offer an alternative National Trust for Scotland property. We regret we are unable to offer any refund. Covesea: Covesea Skerry and Halliman Skerry Recycling Facilities Cans, glass and paper can all be recycled at the Silversands Caravan Park, just down the driveway from the lighthouse. In Lossiemouth there are facilities at the playing field and at the Co-op. Slightly further afield in Elgin, there is an excellent set of recycling facilities, with collection points at the supermarkets. Local Businesses (some nearby suggestions) The 1629 restaurant in Lossiemouth is very popular locally and offers a menu mixed between continental dishes and fresh fish harvested from the Moray coast. 20 Clifton Road, Lossiemouth (Tel. 01343 813743) (Menu in info pack) The Harbour lights (named as it is by our Harbour) is another popular Cafe/Restaurant (01343 814622) The Stotfield Hotel in Lossiemouth offers good food and comfortable surroundings (01343 812011) Covesea Cafe is popular for Fish and Seafood lovers, just 500yrds to the right as you drive out onto the B9040 towards Hopeman. (01343 815454) The Tea Shak is also on the same road and is about 400yrds past Covesea Cafe. For whisky enthusiasts, a visit to Gordon & MacPhail's shop in Elgin is a must. Considered to be world specialists in malt whisky, they sell an enormous range in the store, including many whiskies distilled here in Speyside. They also sell local smoked cheeses and meats alongside many other high quality groceries. Elgin Auction Centre, at the corner of Linkwood Road and New Elgin Road. Allarburn Farm Shop on Edgar Road in Elgin sells a wide range of locally produced dairy products, meat, vegetables and home baking. Johnstons Woollen Mill in Elgin is a must for all visitors. It has a fantastic range of clothing for Young, Old and in between. It has a Cafe and Garden centre. Public Transport A bus service runs from Elgin to RAF Lossiemouth, and then through the town, approximately every 20 minutes throughout the day. Elgin is also on the Stagecoach route from Aberdeen to Inverness. See www.stagecoach.co.uk for detailed and up-to-date timetables. The nearest train station is in Elgin, which is on the First Scotrail Aberdeen - Inverness route. Both Aberdeen and Inverness are well served by services from Edinburgh, Glasgow and beyond, (vvww.firstgroup.com/scotrail) Telephone number: 0845 7484950 Local Walks The Moray Coastal Trail stretches along much of the Moray coast and makes for some lovely walks. Walkers are advised to be aware of tide times as they can change very quickly in this area. Popular day walks include the 6.5 miles to Hopeman or the 8 miles to Kingston. There is also a lovely trail through the Lossie Forest; it is well signposted and has a wide variety of wildlife. Places to Visit. Inverness is approximately 37 miles away. The capital of the Highlands and is situated at the Head of The Great glen at the Mouth of the River Ness. From here you can travel to Urquhart Castle (17miles) just 2 miles outside Drumnadrochit on the Banks of Loch Ness. On your way to Inverness you may wish to stop off at Brodie Castle (18 miles) Home of the Brodies for over 700 yrs. The Castle glows a rich warm pink in the sunshine. Then why don t you visit Nairn Museum just 6 miles past Brodie. Here you will witness over 130 years of history which has fascinated visitors of all ages. You may of course not want to travel far and if this is so, then Elgin ((6miles) has an award winning Museum which was founded in 1836. It is independent, free and houses a truly diverse collection and is worth a visit. Across from the Museum is Cooper Park and situated there is Elgin Cathedral, one of Scotland s most beautiful Medieval buildings dating back to the late 13 th century
