Page 1 of 7 SALTWATER FRESHWATER ABORIGINAL ART AWARD The Saltwater Freshwater Aboriginal Art Award (SWFWAAA) aims to promote Aboriginal art from the Saltwater Freshwater region of the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance invites Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who reside in Worimi, Birpai, and Dhungutti and Gumbaynggirr nations to enter this annual award. Artists may enter up to two entries in any medium created in 2015 or 2016 for the award. Page 2 of 7 HOW TO ENTER Read the Conditions of Entry to ensure your entry complies: CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. Entry Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who reside in the traditional areas of Worimi, Birpai, Dhungutti and Gumbaynggirr nations can enter up to two artworks in two dimensional form completed in 2015 or 2016. 2. Delivery of Entry Form and Artwork/s STEP ONE: The artist must submit the completed entry form and images of the artworks by 4.00pm Friday 2 December 2016. The completed entry form and the images must be either; Emailed to jane@saltwaterfreshwater.com.au or posted to PO Box 703, Coffs Harbour NSW 2450. All artworks entered will go through a selection process by the curator. Saltwater Freshwater will contact artists whose work has been selected. STEP TWO: The successful artist must send the selected artworks by 4pm Friday 6 January 2017. DELIVER TO: Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery Corner Coff and Duke Street, Coffs Harbour 3. Return of Artworks The Coffs Harbour Gallery exhibition closes Saturday 25 February 2016 and moves to the Manning Regional Gallery for opening on Thursday 2 March 2016. Saltwater Freshwater will arrange package and freight of the artwork to the Manning Regional Gallery. The second exhibition closes Sunday 2 April 2016. Artworks must be picked up from the Manning Regional Gallery after the completion of the exhibition by Monday 10 April 2016. 4. Transport The artist is responsible for the delivery of selected artworks to the Coffs Regional Gallery and collection of the artworks from the Manning Regional Gallery at the close of the exhibition. Saltwater Freshwater will organise freight from the Coffs Regional Gallery to the Manning Regional Gallery. For artists requiring freight Saltwater Freshwater recommends S & D Welch Removals. Insurance Insurance of the works during transport will be covered by Saltwater Freshwater as long as transported by the recommended freight company mentioned above and the artworks have been packaged correctly. For information on correct packaging please contact the freight company. The Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery and Manning Regional Gallery will cover insurance of all artwork during the exhibition period 6. Selection and Display of Works Entry into the 2017 SWFWAAA is not a guarantee of artworks being selected. All selected works must remain in the 2016 SWFWAAA exhibition until available for collection on Monday 10 April 2017. The exhibition of entries at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery opens at 10am Friday 13 January 2017 and continues to 5pm Sunday 25 February 2017. The official opening of the exhibition will be held at the Coffs Regional Gallery at 6pm on Friday 13 January 2017. The exhibition will then move to the Manning Regional Gallery in Taree for opening on 2 March 2017 and closing on 2 April 2017. 7. Labelling All selected works must be clearly labelled on the back with the artist s name, title of work and a directional arrow and or word. EXAMPLE Lee Jones Coastal Landscape TOP 8. Framing and Size Two dimensional artwork must be securely framed with D hooks attached to ensure safe hanging of the work where appropriate. Wire must not be used. Maximum size for a two dimensional work including framing is 100 x 130cm. All works including its packaging must be light enough to be moved and installed by no more than two people. Works that are unframed, oversize or over weight may be excluded from the SWFWAAA. 9. Judging The judge will view all selected works entered into the SWFWAAA prior to the exhibition opening. The decision of the judge will be final and no correspondence will be entered into after that decision is made.
Page 4 of 7 The winning artwork of the SWFWAAA Open Acquisitive Prize will become the property of Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance after the prize money of $5,000 is paid to the artist. 10. Results and exhibition opening The winners of the prizes will be announced at the Official Opening being held at 6pm Friday 13 January 2017 at the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery. 11. Sales and commission All work must be available for sale. Sale price includes a commission of 33% (GST included) which will be deducted from the sale price on all works sold. 12. Promotion Saltwater Freshwater reserves the right to reproduce any works entered for the SWFWAAA for archival, catalogue or publicity purposes only. The signed entry form is evidence of the artist s consent.
