Precondition of Cruise terminal construction in Kaliningrad region Federal program of Kaliningrad region development: one of the basic direction is tourism. Fast growing of cruise market on Baltic Sea: about 2,3 mln. cruise tourists, more than 2100 cruise vessels calls to Baltic ports per year. Absence of sufficient port infrastructure for modern cruise vessels in region. Solution of Kaliningrad region transport isolation. Latvia Lithuania Poland Russia Kaliningrad 4

Infrastructure demands for the new cruise terminal According to studies issued during Port-Net and Port Integration projects: Constant growing of a cruise vessels length: - 21 % of world fleet capacity fell on vessels with length more than 300 m; - 78 % of cruise tourists travel on vessels with length more than 250 m; - 57 % of world cruise fleet fell on vessels with length more than 275 m. Conclusion of Cruise terminal designers: To be competitive on cruise market port infrastructure should have 2 berths with length 350 m each, and 10,5 m depth. 5

Ecological safety on the terminal Ecological aspects of Cruise and Ferry terminal operation are designed by International ecological foundation «Clean Seas». Also in project we used best practices of EU port gained from partners of Port-Net, Port Integration and Clean Baltic Sea Shipping projects 25

Ecological safety on terminal Worked out the Program of environment technogenic pollution prevention, reducing and exclusion: - Program of activities; - Technical measures: Separate sewerage system; System of collection vessel domestic wastewater to the municipal sewerage; System of the collection of terminal surface rainwater runoff into a separate storage tank for cleaning. Creation of possibility vessel shore electricity supply. 26
