SKI TRIP TO LES ORRES, FRANCE FEBRUARY HALF TERM, 2019. Dear Parent or Guardian, Farlingaye High School is pleased to be able to offer our 2019 ski trip to the French Alps at a price that, we think, represents excellent value for money. The resort: Les Orres - The village is purpose built, perched high above the Durance valley. At 1650m above sea level it is as snow sure as it can be. There are a selection of shops and amenities within the pedestrianised village and in addition some apres ski activities are just outside the village but within easy access. The Skiing: The skiing centres on the village. Lower slopes provide confidence giving blues and nursery slopes, whilst the upper slopes will challenge most skiers but there are also blue runs from the top to the bottom of the mountain which give a great sense of achievement. While the nursery slopes are not separate from the other pistes, there are dedicated nursery areas with their own lifts at altitude where snow conditions are always good. For more able skiers there is a wide selection of pistes, both above the tree line and through the trees. The Accommodation: The Hotel La Portette is a 3* hotel with accommodation for up to 90 people. It s located at the edge of the village of Les Orres 450m from the lift station, and next to a drag lift for more able skiers. There is a chairlift 400m from the hotel too. The staff speak good English. Rooms for students are for 3 or 4 people with a combination of twin/bunk beds. All room are en-suite. The group will have its own dining room that is their space for the duration of the stay. Hotel facilities include a restaurant, bar area with TV, games area, meeting space.
