Carnaval Itinerary Carnaval Float inside of the Sambódromo DAY 1: Copacabana Friday, March 1st DAY 2: Copacabana and Centro Saturday, March 2nd Arrive into Rio de Janeiro in the early afternoon from departure city. Today is the day that Carnaval kicks off in earnest! After collecting luggage and clearing customs, prepare to arrive at your hotel for the week. We will check in at 2 pm and will go for a late lunch or snack once everyone is settled in. You are free to explore the eclectic Copacabana neighborhood filled with many options for a fun afternoon. You can walk the area to a quintessential Rio cocktail bar, stroll the promenade or enjoy a swim at the beach. You will be welcomed to Rio with a true Brazilian feast in a breathtaking surrounding! In the morning and early afternoon enjoy some relaxation beachside, indulge in pool time or even book a spa treatment (inquire for spa rates). 2:30 pm: We will have lunch in the neighborhood. 4:00 pm: We will depart our hotel in the early afternoon as a first league Samba School honorably invited us to participate in the official parade competition of the 2019 Carnaval events. We will be costumed in the school s official attire and will leave floating on air from the once-in-a-lifetime experience of participating in an event that millions of people devote their entire year s efforts towards. Dinner is not included.

DAY 3: Copacabana and Lapa Sunday, March 3 rd Today we will visit the exciting bohemian neighborhood of Lapa, famous for its beautiful murals on many buildings and the Selaron Steps, an impressive display of mosaic tiles from around the world. We will also be able to shop in sidewalk craft markets near the steps. We will enjoy lunch in Lapa. (Location dependent on progression of day) After lunch we will go experience a street band concert put on by the well-known Cordão do Boitata bloco as it parades through the neighborhood. When we finish dancing to the music we will go home to relax and freshen up before heading out to dinner. Dinner is included tonight at Rio Scenarium, a unique three-story Brazilian and International live music venue covered in eclectic vintage accents. Rated one of the top 10 best night clubs in the world! DAY 4: Tijuca Forest National Park Monday, March 4 th 10 am: Leave the hotel to go to the awe-inspiring Christ the Redeemer landmark. A towering monument overlooking the Rio skyline, this 98 foot tall statue is honored as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and is Brazil s most visited site. 2:30 pm: Lunch will be served in the City Center area at the delicious and traditional Belmonte restaurant. We can stroll down the boulevard to see the space-aged Museum of Tomorrow, more beautiful murals near the 2016 Olympic flame cauldron, the Municipal Theatre with its grandiose art nouveau style, and the majestic Candelaria Church. This evening we will have VIP access to see the best of the best Samba Schools for the main event during the world s largest celebration! We will be amongst the 90,000 spectators witnessing this unique performance in the impressive Sambódromo as the best schools compete for a million dollar prize and, more importantly, bragging rights for the rest of the year. Dinner is not included. The Christ the Redeemer Landmark

Sailboat in Angra dos Reis DAY 5: Pão de Açúcar Tuesday, March 5 th We start the day with a stroll along the Copacabana beach to meet our transportation to the famous area of Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain). This UNESCO World Heritage Site has a series of cable cars providing panoramic views of the city and the Christ monument we will have seen the previous day. 2 pm: We will enjoy beautiful beach views during lunch at the Terra Brasilis. After lunch we will visit the impressively diverse Botanical Gardens on a specialized guided tour and just might run into some monkeys along the way here too. Once back at the hotel we will prepare ourselves for a fun night of street parties, outdoor bands and live performances. We will have dinner in Ipanema tonight. DAY 6: Angra Dos Reis Wednesday, March 6 th A bus will pick us up at the hotel promptly at 7 am as we embark on a 3-hour drive to Angra dos Reis, or the Creek of the Kings, a beautiful territory with 365 islands to explore. There will be a stop for coffee, snacks and restrooms half way to our destination. 11 am: Arrival to Angra dos Reis to board a motored Sailboat for the day. We will cruise to several islands as we dance to the local rhythms with a Caiprinha, the national cocktail, in hand. There will be plenty of time to snorkel and explore the beautiful waters, relax on the beach, and see a different corner of this vast country. Lunch will be served at an island restaurant. We will return to the hotel in the early evening to shower and get ready for a dinner in town.

DAY 7: Copacabana Thursday, March 7 th This morning we will visit several excellent cultural centers. We will begin with CRAB, the Artisanal Museum of Brazilian Handcrafts, which displays a myriad of interesting objects and has a great gift shop for souvenirs.
