Buenos Aires is a world-class city of some 10 million people, located on the shores of the Rio de la Plata, adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean. Established in 1536, Buenos Aires has always been an important city of trade. A favored destination of European immigrants in the 19 th and 20 th Centuries, Buenos Aires often seems more European than South American. After the rehearsal, enjoy an Outreach Exchange Performance at a local school. Enjoy dinner and a chance to socialize with hosts. Afterwards, return to the hotel.
DAY THREE: BUENOS AIRES ROSARIO (B,L,D) Check-out of the hotel, load the coach and depart for Rosario. En route, enjoy a visit to an authentic Argentine estancia (cattle ranch). Experience the life of the gauchos (cowboys) through roping demonstrations, rides on horse-driven carts, plus folklore dancing and singing. Lunch as a group at the ranch. After lunch, continue to Rosario. Late Arrive into Rosario and check-in to a local hotel time to settle into your hotel. With a population of approximately 1 million people, Rosario is tied with Córdoba for the title of Argentina s second-largest city. Settled in the early 18th century, Rosario grew briskly in the mid-19th century as a transportation center for crops, beef and leather goods making their way to Buenos Aires for overseas export. DAY FOUR: ROSARIO (B) Performance #2 This morning, enjoy a tour of Rosario including the Plaza 25 de Mayo (and the cathedral), the Paraná Riverfront (called La Cosanera), the National Monument to the Flag and Parque Independencia (wonderful views of Rosario). : This afternoon, enjoy some free time for shopping and lunch on own in central Rosario. DAY FIVE: ROSARIO CÓRDOBA (B,D) Check-out of the hotel, load the coach and depart for Córdoba (~ 4 hour drive). Lunch on own in central Córdoba upon arrival. Founded in 1573 and once rivaling Buenos Aires in importance, the colonial city of Córdoba was a major crossroads for connecting the Spanish colonies. Today, Córdoba still boasts some of Latin America s best universities and finest colonial architecture. Surrounded by the Sierra Chicas Mountains, this lively city is a delight at every turn. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Córdoba including the El Centro (with its Jesuit Block, San Martin Square and the Cathedral), the Nueva Córdoba (the main student quarter) and University City (home of the oldest university in South America - Universidad Nacional de Córdoba). Enjoy free time at the Caminito in the La Boca neighborhood. You can see restored conventillos, shared homes made of wood and corrugated zinc and painted in bright primary colors. On any given day, there will be several tango singers and dancers performing in the cafés and artists hawking paintings and sketches.
