Swissôtel Tallinn firmly believes that successful business and a corporate responsibility for sustainable development go hand-in-hand. We consider corporate sustainability in all aspects of our business to ensure that customers, team members, the environment, local communities and all our stakeholders understand and benefit from what we do. To create public awareness and mandate Swissôtel Tallinn team member s participation in all corporate sustainability efforts. 1 SOS Children Village Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts supports SOS Children s Villages since 1999. A series of fundraising events as well as donation boxes at hotel receptions in all Swissôtel s worldwide contribute to improve these children s lives. 2011 January 2011 handed over the content of the collection box amount 347 June 2011 attended the 1st birthday of SOS Põltsamaa family homes with a birthday cake July 2011 attended 16th birthday of SOS Keila Children village July 2011 donated 100 for SOS Children s bicycle fund August 2011 donated prizes for the annual orphanage homes football tournament in amount of 225 and a cake November 2011 donated a VIP-accommodation voucher for SOS online auction, value 300 Picture from football event
2 Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital Starting from 2011, Swissôtel Tallinn has been a partner for Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital. On the 9 th March 2011, Swissôtel Tallinn sponsored the charity art auction Help to start a life organised by Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital Foundation. All the support gained from the auction was donated to Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital. On the 7 th May, Swissôtel Tallinn team members helped Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital to clean the surrounding area just in time for Mother's Day! The initiative for the campaign came from Swissôtel Tallinn and was warmly welcomed by the staff of the Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital who joined in the cleaning. 7 th May cleaning team 3 Christmas Luncheon For the past years Swissôtel Tallinn has sent out electronic Christmas cards and instead donated the amount of 1500 for the Christmas Luncheons. For the past 3 years in late December Swissôtel Tallinn s kitchen team has prepared hot meals for the homeless and people living in poverty as part of an annual memorial service held at St. Olaf s Church in Tallinn. The memorial service and the concert given by local singers and choirs is organized by a non-profit organization and sponsored by several local companies and associations and also by members of the local community. Everybody is invited to donate their old clothes and items and also to prepare food for the occasion. The event has taken place for the past 10 years now and is warmly welcomed; the number of participants is growing every year and this time the food was prepared already for approximately 700 people!
4 Youth football team sponsorship For the year 2011 Swissôtel Tallinn sponsored one of the youth football teams FC Levadia Tallinn 97. Swissôtel Tallinn s donated total amount of 1000 was used to travel to Riga Cup tournament in 2011 and 2012. 500 for the 2011 Riga Cup http://www.rigacup.lv/winter/en/?p=1983 500 for the 2012 Riga Cup http://www.rigacup.lv/winter/en/?page_id=365 FC Levadia Tallinn 97 4 International Women s Club Tallinn In December 2011 Swissôtel Tallinn sponsored the IWCT Christmas Bazaar with prizes for the silent auction in total value of 1500. From total amount collected with the auction 50% was donated to SOS Children Villages Estonia. 5 Rat Race For three years Swissôtel Tallinn s team has participated in Rat Race competition. Every year the participation fee has been donated to different charity: 2011 approximately 7000 EUR was raised and this money was used to support the university tuition fees for Estonian children coming from large families with low incomes.
Swissôtel Tallinn team 2011 6 Cooperation with hotel schools Swissôtel Tallinn is doing co-operation with hotel schools locally and as well from abroad through management projects, lectures, site-inspections and offering the students opportunities for their internships, trainings and career opportunities. 7 Employment of physically disabled people Swissôtel Tallinn is doing co-operation with Disabled Youth Center JUKS, Society of Deaf of Tallinn and Harjumaa and from this year as well with Astangu Rehabilitation Center. Swissôtel Tallinn is offering an opportunity for the people from these organizations for employment on different positions within the hotel. Members of these organizations are often invited to the hotel for Shadow Days, when they have the opportunity to spend a day in one of the departments following someone s work. Additionally Swissôtel Tallinn is always searching for the possibilities to make contribution for the local environment and as well abroad. During 2011 Swissôtel Tallinn also donated prize for the charity event held in Swissôtel The Howard, London for the Great Ormond Street Hospital and Cyberknife Appeal.
