- Cigarette? No, thnx! Greek Odysseuses (G.O.) Thessaloniki, Greece 6 days Youth Exchange Focused on smoking for 40 people from 6 different countries: Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Romania and Turkey In Thessaloniki, Greece between 15 th -22 nd of July 2017

For decades, smoking has been a central reference point in the global lifestyle, as projected both by the universal film industry and the public life of popular people. As a result, entire generations were initiated in smoking which, combined with the physical and psychological dependence it creates, led to the rapid propagation of the habit and the direct or indirect affection of a large part of the world population. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 215 million out of the 750 million European residents smoke. Noteworthy is the fact that Greece has the highest proportion of smokers among the Western European countries (37.6%) while at the same time, according to the latest data, Greece is also ranked first in passive smoking, as the anti-smoking law is not implemented effectively.

The proven harmful effects of smoking impose the need to plan and implement complete informative and educative activities with special emphasis on young people so as to lead them to respond: Cigarette? No, thnx! The aim of the project is to inform participants and society in general, through the dissemination of the results, of the adverse effects of both active and passive smoking, of the causes and triggers that lead to its adoption, as well as to suggest ways in which family environment can prevent younger generations from smoking. In addition, one of the objectives is to promote respect towards non-smokers in the name of public health and human rights, encouraging at the same time the European awareness and developing the social and personal skills of the participants.

Participants should be: Able to work in simple English Interested in public health, prevention, promotion of a healthy lifestyle Desiring to pass on the knowledge and the experiences acquired to young people in their communities T H E S S A L O N I K I The Youth Exchange will take place in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece (520 km. north of Athens) and the most important centre of the area. Built near the sea (at the back of the Thermaïkos Gulf), it is a modern metropolis bearing the marks of its stormy history and its cosmopolitan character, which give it a special beauty and charm. Thessaloniki has many stories to tell, starting by the moment of its foundation in 316/315 B.C. Fortunate to have royal blood, since the new city was named after Thessaloniki, sister of Alexander the Great and daughter of Philip II, King of Macedonia, It

was developed rapidly -due to its prominent geographical location- as one of the most important ports, and economical and commercial centers of Macedonia and the Balkan Peninsula as a whole, advantages maintained for the past 2300 years. Undeniable witnesses of its long course over the years are its numerous monuments. Open and easily accessible to the public, live alongside its great residents and tell interesting stories about different civilizations, religions, eras. Thessaloniki has been characterized as the Greek Youth Capital for its large number of permanent young residents. More than 100.000 students give to the city a completely unique pulse, vibe and nightlife. There are 3 ways to come to Thessaloniki: By airplane, in Macedonia Airport of Thessaloniki By train, from Athens, or some Balkan Cities and Turkey by the Greek National Railway By bus from Athens or any other city, to Macedonia Bus Station of Thessaloniki

Who are we? Greek Odysseuses is an informal group of young people founded in January 2017 in Northern Greece focused on health issues and prevention. The idea for this informal group was born from our experiences in Erasmus+ programs within the last two years. Our aim is to offer to young people new opportunities and perspectives. - Cigarette? No, thnx! is our first Youth Exchange. We strongly believe that such an exchange will enhance the self-awareness of the participants on the importance of informing, both themselves and other young people, about the consequences of smoking, in order to reduce its effects and improve their quality of life. Our mission comes from the decision to support the self-development and empowerment of young people, with the vision of creating a better world and a better future for everyone. Finally, the international framework in which the project will be realized, will assist the wider impact of the "message" that the participants will propagate: Cigarette? No, thnx! "!!!

See you soon in Thessaloniki
