We gather the finest materials from around the world and perform the final and most critical steps of assembly here in Portland, Oregon. We currently manufacture in Europe, Asia, and North America. Our products are built with materials and components from all over the globe. WHY WOULD KEEN OPEN A FACTORY IN AMERICA? As a pioneering company, KEEN is always exploring ways to create future opportunities that initially do not seem so obvious. We opened our Portland factory doors in 2010 to test the idea that building footwear in the USA could be done. We believe in the future of local manufacturing. KEEN s American Built products are the result of a significant investment and commitment that allows us to be 100% devoted to quality, fit, and comfort. Additionally, our Portland factory doubles as a learning and test center where we can have quick and easy access to test and sample new products. HOW MANY PRODUCTS IS KEEN BUILDING IN THE PORTLAND FACTORY? We are producing more than 20 styles at our Portland factory. The quantity and range of our local production will continue to increase dramatically over the next few seasons. 4

FIT, FEEL, FUNCTION KEEN Utility boots are built from the ground up with special consideration to every fit and comfort component. Asymmetrical safety toes come in five sizes resulting in a better protective fit Wider toe box that is anatomically correct, allowing your toes to splay naturally Dual density midsole construction for increased stability Molded footbed and EVA or PU midsole for cushioning and shock absorption Breathable moisture wicking lining keeps feet dry throughout the day KEEN Utility Men s boots come in width sizes D and EE, and Women s sizes medium and wide. The difference between the D and EE is 12mm in the upper width. 6
TOE PROTECTION KEEN Utility boots feature asymmetrical toe protection for maximum comfort and unobtrusive fit. All KEEN Steel toe, Aluminum toe and Composite toe boots meet ASTM impact and crush standards: ASTM F2412-11 and F2413-11 C/75 I/75 standards. All KEEN soft toe boots meet ASTM F2892-11 EH or SD standards. STEEL ALUMINUM Like a hard hat for your toes, steel toe protection has a high crush rating and is the heaviest of toe protection. It provides a roomier toe box and maximum comfort. Lighter than steel, it provides toe protection with the same crush rating as a steel toe. The toe cap is slightly thicker than steel, but still provides unmatched comfort. COMPOSITE The lightest of toe protection, composite has the same crush rating as steel, but is the thickest of toe protection, making it the bulkiest of all three. Composite is incredibly comfortable and lightweight. It is also non-metallic and performs well in cold weather environments. SOFT / PLAIN When you want the durability and performance of a full-featured work boot KEEN soft toes feature KEEN.Protect toe caps to safeguard against minor impact, but are not reinforced with a secondary crush resistance. KEEN.PROTECT Molded reinforcement on the toe box safeguards against abrasion and mild impact. DETROIT Rugged tread pattern with high-traction lugs on the outsole used for digging and wedging into hard surfaces such as rocks, dirt and mud. Also found on the Flint and Atlanta Cool. The Minot features the same outsole in our premium dual climate, cold compound rubber for enhanced traction. PITTSBURGH Hiking boot-inspired tread pattern with wider lugs provide an expanded surface contact area for additional traction and balance. Also found on the Cleveland. MILWAUKEE Deep molded grooves provide superior traction and drainage channels to direct water away from under foot. Offers a 90 degree heel for excellent stability. Also found on the Wenatchee. 9 GLENDALE Classic wedge designed for complete under foot cushioning and comfort. Full surface contact to ensure traction and footing on all surfaces.
HYBRID.OLOGY The foot is made up of 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles and tendons, and 26 bones, the five largest being the metatarsals. KEEN s anatomically engineered footbed provides arch support that cradles the natural contours and make-up of the foot. Metatarsals + Anatomical design = KEEN Metatomical Footbed. Keeps feet supported and comfortable. Lightweight insulation provides warmth across a range of temperatures. The higher the gram rating, the warmer the boot. KEEN Utility offers work boots with insulation from 400g to 600g. A waterproof, breathable membrane that lets vapor out without letting water in. Perspiration and moisture naturally produced by your body are able to escape, while at the same time keeping the wet out and keeping your feet dry. A tri-layer footbed captures warmth and provides underfoot comfort. Crafted of wool, a thermal foil barrier for warmth retention, and EVA for support and cushioning. 10
HYBRID.OLOGY All KEEN Utility puncture resistant boots, indicated by PR, meet ASTM approved puncture resistant components. Puncture resistant boots reduce the possibility of injury caused by sharp objects that can penetrate the bottom of a boot. KEEN Utility boots feature supportive shanks for comfort, durability and stability. A shank is essential underfoot as it helps balance the load incurred by the feet and calves during a work day. KEEN Utility boots feature non-metallic TPU shanks and nylon shanks. Full-length TPU stability plate blends forefoot flexibility with stability. The stability plate fits into the EVA midsole of the shoe like a key, providing three major features: Heel Stability Medial and Lateral Support Forefoot Stone Bruising Protection TSS SHANK (TORSION STABILITY SHANK) Stiff, lightweight rigid shank provides midfoot torsional support. 11 TPU SHANK (THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE) Lightweight shank absorbs shock and helps keep midfoot balanced.
