CLIA CERTIFICATION Welcome to CLIA s Cruise Counsellor Certification Program! CLIA Certification not only serves to elevate your personal and professional brand; research has shown that professional designations, like CLIA Certification, are an important consideration for consumers when selecting a qualified professional. During the 2017 membership year, CLIA offers the following levels of certification: Certified Cruise Counsellor (CCC) Accredited Cruise Counsellor (ACC) Master Cruise Counsellor (MCC) Elite Cruise Counsellor (ECC) Enrollment in these certifications is exclusive to current CLIA Individual Agent Members (IAMs). There is no better way to elevate your personal and professional brand and be recognized as a true cruise selling professional than to earn your CLIA Certification. You must enroll in each level of certification separately and adhere to any prerequisites and requirements therein. To enroll in Certification, visit us at www.cruising.org/careerseascape. 3

HOW TO USE THIS LOG BOOK Your Log Book is similar to the log maintained on board every cruise vessel. It will be a record of your achievements on your voyage to becoming a Accredited Cruise Counsellor (ACC). We suggest you keep it in a safe place as you will need the information and documentation contained within this Log Book upon enrolling for higher levels of certification. You should check this log book regularly to confirm that you adhere to the requirements for this certification. CLIA reserves the right to change the rules and requirements of this program, conditions of eligibility, and/or procedures regarding any aspect of the CLIA Certification Program. Throughout this log book, please pay close attention to this text box. Boxes like this indicate a special note or circumstance that requires your attention. 4

PROGRAM OVERVIEW One of CLIA s primary reasons for existence is to help the thousands of CLIA member agencies and individual agent members (IAMs) become more successful at capitalizing on the booming and profitable cruise market. With this in mind, CLIA introduced its Cruise Counsellor Certification program in 1992 in response to travel agent and Cruise Line Member requests for a vehicle to recognize those dedicated agents who develop extensive cruise and travel industry knowledge and superior selling skills. Since 1992, the CLIA certification program has evolved into the cruise and travel industry s premier training program with over 33,000 CLIA Certification designations awarded in North America alone! CLIA s Cruise Line Members and your clients will become aware of your achievement in several ways. First, upon completion and graduation of each level, you will receive a certificate of achievement and lapel pin, and your achievement will be provided to CLIA Cruise Line Members! Second, CLIA s ongoing consumer communication efforts consistently emphasize the benefits of using a CLIA Certified Travel Agent and direct potential cruise clients to CLIA agencies with Cruise Counsellors on staff. CLIA s certification program is designed to make you the consumer s most knowledgeable cruise resource and increase your cruise sales and commissions! ENROLLMENT FEES A nominal enrollment fee of $80 is charged for the 2017 Accredited Cruise Counsellor (ACC) Program. These fees cover log book maintenance and grading, exam processing and overall program administration. SCHEDULE Candidates have two (2) years from the date of ACC enrollment to complete ACC requirements and submit log book. Within this 2-year period, you may fulfill the requirements in any order. Log books must be submitted to CLIA for grading on or before your certification expiration date. Log books received after the expiration date will be returned ungraded. 6

PRE- AND POST- REQUISITES Enrollee must be an active CLIA Individual Agent Member (IAM) and maintain active membership during the certification completion period. Once a CLIA IAM graduates with the Accredited Cruise Counsellor designation, the graduate must maintain active CLIA IAM status to maintain the certification. If there is a membership lapse, the IAM may have to pay a re-instatement fee after regaining active CLIA membership. CLIA has launched an online logbook and submission process! Log in to your MyCLIA account and click on the My Certifications tab to access. 7

SUBMITTING DOCUMENTATION & GRADUATION Once you have completed the necessary requirements for Certification, please submit your completed log book and any proof of performance or participation mandated under requirements guidelines. Please make sure you retain a copy of this information for your personal records. CLIA will not be held responsible for a log book lost by the mail system. We suggest your log book be submitted through your MyCLIA account or sent by courier service, or certified mail. Duplicate appropriate requirement pages within this log book as needed (i.e. if you ve taken 5 different seminars for your elective training, print that particular page twice to document all of your seminars accordingly). When you have graduated and achieved your Certification, any hard copy materials submitted with your log book will be returned to you along with your certificate of achievement. After you achieve your ACC, you may enroll in the MCC program by visiting www.cruising.org/careerseascape. Be sure to read in detail all of the certification requirements outlined in this log book before proceeding with your certification.
