Days are warmer and longer now with what snow left tucked away and temporarily hiding in cool shady spots. For another sign, I ve been watching large flocks of newly arrived grackles scratching for snacks in the leaf litter. But, remember, northern New England has received a large quantity of snow this winter and there is and will be some wonderful spring skiing for us all. Just as in December, little to nil snow in the southern part of the state doesn t mean there isn t lots of snow up north in the mountains and take my word for it, there is. Spring skiing is simply a wonderful experience, with soft forgiving snow accompanied by warm sunny days, with the scent of sun block in the air. As a bonus, soft spring snow allows access to more terrain, both on and off the trails, and, as a result, you will no doubt find yourself skiing places you didn t try during the regular season. Be sure to take advantage of these short lived conditions while they last!! When the patches of snow up north become too small to slide on, bringing your spring skiing for this year to a close, be sure to keep an eye on the SSC s summer calendar. The club will be offering a number of summer activities including white water rafting, golf outings, kayaking adventures and group bike rides. Sure looks like a summer of interesting outings to me. Please don t miss the upcoming April meeting as we will be voting on next year s winter ski trips. Your vote at the April meeting will help determine where the club ventures off to ski next winter. Make sure you have a say!! Remember, get out there and use that great spring snow. Robin Wiley Next Meeting: MONDAY APRIL 11TH DON T FORGET TO VOTE!!! REMINDER: ALL MEMBERSHIPS EXPIRE SEPT 30
