This year, linger in the laneways and go barefoot on the green as all the sounds and sensations of an iconic Aussie summer come together at The Rocks Australia Day. Gather your friends for an unforgettable afternoon of free live music, as home-grown artists such as Dustin Tebbutt, Saskwatch, Thelma Plum and Little May take to the outdoor stages. Kick off your shoes and wander up the freshly astroturfed George Street, practice your percussion and croquet skills and peruse markets for unique goods and mouth-watering flavours. Australia Day is just one of the many vibrant events proudly produced by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority every year. Our outstanding events attract millions of people and provide a valuable contribution to the NSW economy. This is the essential summer street festival, made for you this Australia Day.
THE GREEN First Fleet Park Bare your soles to the green and your soul to the music for a sensational home-grown line up by the harbour in First Fleet Park. Celebrate and refresh with a hand crafted beer or cider at the Rocks Brewing Company open air bar. Welcome to Country 11.55am Uncle Chicka Madden Gadigal Elder Benny Walker 12.05pm 12.45pm Hailing from regional Victoria, Indigenous singer and songwriter Benny Walker blends blues, roots, and acoustic soul with effortless charm. His third album Through the Forest was released in March. Thelma Plum 1.05pm 1.50pm Thelma Plum graces the stage with her latest album Monsters. Since winning Triple J s unearthed competition in 2012, Thelma has sold out national tours and featured at festivals like Falls Festival, Bluesfest, St Kilda and the Woodford Folk Festival. Dustin Tebbutt 2.15pm 3.10pm Performing songs from his 2014 EP The Breach, Dustin Tebbutt s sound is deeply layered, inspired by Nordic artists such as Sigur Rös, and by two years living, writing and recording in Sweden. The Bombay Royale 3.40pm 4.35pm Melbourne-based ensemble The Bombay Royale bring their eclectic mix of slammin surf, disco and funk to The Green Stage, inspired by 60s and 70s Bollywood music. Saskwatch 5pm 6pm Melbourne based Saskwatch s sophomore album Nose Dive debuted in the Top 50 Aria Charts. Their sound blends sweet vocals by Nkechi Anele, with elevating brass and soulful riffs. THE LANEWAY Atherden Street Revel in a glorious afternoon of fresh Aussie tunes in this charming cobbled street nestled in the heart of The Rocks. Welcome to Country 12.25pm Uncle Chicka Madden Gadigal Elder The Morrisons 12.30pm 1.15pm The Morrisons are a raucous 7-piece string band that forge elements of country, bluegrass and folk to create a unique and contemporary Australian sound. The Lulu Raes 1.30pm 2.10pm This Sydney four-piece pop n roll outfit combine a love of Motown harmonies with catchy quirkiness to create their own danceable and infectious take on the genre. Winterbourne 2.30pm 3.10pm Central Coast folk/rock duo Winterbourne s 2014 EP All But the Sun charted at number 9 on itunes. Their unique on-stage chemistry has captivated national audiences at festivals and on tours. Fishing with Special Guest Al from Cloud Control 3.30pm 4.15pm From the depths of Darlinghurst, Fishing submerged from their studio to release their debut LP in 2014. They re known for their tactile, electronic music which samples urban artists such as Flume. Little May 4.35pm 5.30pm This fresh indie band is transforming Sydney s perception of folk music. Sound Garden Young and old alike will love this wacky musical space, a place to practice your percussion skills on an eclectic collection of contraptions made from recycled materials like mag wheels and swimming pool filters! Games Lawn Strike up some friendly rivalry at a game of old-school snakes and ladders or stop for a lunch break and yarn with your mates. Oz Day 10K 9am 11am Alfred Street Wheelchair athletes from across the globe will descend upon Sydney for the 26th Annual GIO Oz Day 10K this Australia Day in The Rocks. Free to watch plus free BBQ breakfast. Race on Rollers 11am 3pm George Street Following from the exciting Oz Day 10K through the streets of The Rocks, you ll get the chance to have a go yourself! Race on Rollers invites you to take a seat in a road-racing chair on a wheelchair track and test out your skills on two wheels! Free. 8 9
