SYNOPSIS Jim Durante (24) is a young, crazy vlogger posting videos about paranormal events on Youtube. The licentious, selfish Jim, who lives with his alcoholic mother, does not believe in supernatural matters and sets everything up to attract viewers on Youtube. Jim's best friend is the neurotic nerd Eric (27), who takes care of the special effects for his videos. Both share a passion for drinks and experimental drugs. When the number of viewers at Jim s Youtube channel drops, a Moroccan friend advises him to make a vlog report about the illegal expulsion of a Djinn demons in Morocco. After Jim watches some frightening videos about Djinn exorcism, he gets excited about the idea and travels with Eric and a Lauren, a firm and down-to-earth camerawoman and producer, to Morocco. The crew settles in Marrakech and meets Faisel, a morrocan fixer. The unstable Faisel promises Jim they will be the first foreigners to witness and film an illegal Djinn exorcism. That night they film a Djinn exorcism for 500 dollars in the basement of an old house in the city. During the shocking event an imam drives out a Djinn from a young woman. But sceptic Jim finds out that everything has been staged. The girl is an actress and the imam sells Kebab during the day. Jim asks Faisel to arrange an authentic Djinn expulsion with a real imam next time. Faisel says attending a real expulsion could be dangerous. He tells Jim the story of an uncle who was present during an expulsion and killed the next day his wife with an ax and threw himself in front of a truck. Witnesses claimed that just before the collision with the truck, a Djinn left the body of his uncle. Jim says he only believes it when he has seen it with his own eyes. After a few days Faisel shows up and says that he has arranged a real expulsion in a small village in the Rif Mountains. To be able to attend the exorcism, Jim has to pay 1500 dollars. Jim pays Faisel and travels with his team to the isolated village. Prior to the expulsion Jim interviews the Imam, the eccentric Achraf (45). The imam tells him a 13-year-old girl is possessed by a very powerful and evil Djinn. Achraf warns Jim and his team to follow his directions during the exorcism, because he can t predict how the Djinn will act.
The expulsion takes place that afternoon in the basement of an old house in the presence of some of the girl's relatives. Jim makes a vlog report of the expulsion while the girl rolls through the room and injures herself by banging her head against the wall. Lauren wants to help the injured girl, but Achraf warns her because the Djinn might "jump" into her body. Jim still has the impression that everything is fake. But when the girl cuts her throat with a piece of glass and her face turns a fraction of a second into that of an old man, the previous victim of the Djinn, the vlogger realizes that this time it is real. Family members blame Jim and his team for the death of the girl. After some hazardous moments they flee through the village for a furious crowd. As Jim and the others drive back to the city, the car breaks down in a desolate area. There is no explicable reason: the engine has recently been replaced and there is enough petrol in the car. The phones appear to have no coverage in the remote area. They decide to stay in an old and abandoned hotel near the road. During the night Faisel disappears mysteriously and Eric starts to behave strange. Jim presumes first it is a side effect of the drugs they took the night before. But when Eric's face changes a second into that of the possessed girl, Jim and Lauren realize that the Djinn has taken possession of Eric. After a blood-curdling hunt in the dark hotel they overpower Eric and tie him. The next morning Faisel arrives with a new car. When Faisel sees the apathetic Eric, he is convinced that only Achraf can help him. He arranges a meeting with Achraf and Jim and his team and travel to an old, sacred temple in the desert (abondoned set Gladiator). In the dark, ruined temple, Achraf tells Jim that the Djinn who possesses Eric is a very powerful and evil demon. Achraf wants the Djinn, by sprinkling it with holy water, transfer it into the body of an old deceased woman and sink it in a holy well of the temple. The Djinn exorcisme goes from bad to worse, when Eric injures himself and Achraf badly with knife while Jim is covering the horryfying exorcism with his smartphone for a bizar vlog report. Even after the Djinn is expelled into the body of the deceased woman and sunk into the well, the nightmare continues as Achraf feels the present of a second Djinn that is present in one of them. A demon hiding in one of them for a long time and waiting for the right time to strike. That time has come now.
