SUGGESTED BASIC ITINERARY Day 1: Johannesburg Cairo Depart from Johannesburg for Cairo DAY 2 : Cairo On arrival in Cairo you will be met by a Vision Sport representatives and board your bus for your transfer to the Egyptian Museum for a tour of over 120 000 pieces of paranoiac antiquities and the famous Tutankhamen collection. After lunch the Papyrus Museum will be visited to see how the very first paper in history was made from the Papyrus plant. The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. The edifice is one of the largest museums in the region. After the two tours, you will go back to your hotel where you will have time to rest before you depart to a local restaurant for dinner. Evening at Leisure DAY 3: Cairo-Aswan Breakfast at Hotel Depart to old Cairo. Old Cairo is the Coptic area and contains the oldest churches in Egypt that date from the 3rd,4th and 5th century. You will then have lunch at a local restaurant before departing to the famous Giza Pyramids which is one of the great wonders of the world and the Valley Temple. Camel ride in front of one of the ancient wonders of the world. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex bordering what is now El Giza, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. Head to the Perfumery Palace and Cotton place. Spend the night on a sleeping train to Aswan DAY 4: Aswan Breakfast on the train. Start the day off with a tour of the High Dam Completed in 1971 which ensure up to 3 harvests per year for local farmers. You will then depart to the Temple of Philae, that is built on an island in the Nile, which was dedicated to the goddess Isis. You will embark on your Nile cruise with lunch served aboard. You cruise around Elepantine island which will lead you to the botanical gardens on Kitchener Island. This evening take a walk around this quaint city with its market street where the scent of peanuts and spices greet you.
DAY 5: Aswan-Kom Ombo Breakfast at accomodation. You will get to experience the beautiful sunrise over the Nile in Aswan Sail down to Kom Ombo. Upon your arrival in Kom Ombo you will have a guided tour of the Temple of Sobek and Haroeris. You will continue sailing and overnight on board at Edfu with dinner included. The Temple of Sobek is an unusual double temple in the town of Kom Ombo in Aswan Governorate, Upper Egypt. It was constructed during the Ptolemaic dynasty, 180 47 BC. Some additions to it were later made during the Roman period. DAY 6:Kom Ombo-Edfu-Luxor Breakfast on cruise. Depart early by bus to visit the Temple Horus the mythical son of Isis Osiris. Here according to myth, Horus avenges the murderer of his father Osiris by defeating his father s brother Seth in combat. The Temple of Edfu is an ancient Egyptian temple, located on the west bank of the Nile in Edfu, Upper Egypt. The city was known in Greco-Roman times as Apollonopolis Magna, after the chief god Horus-Apollo. It is one of the best preserved shrines in Egypt. The temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus, was built in the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BC. The inscriptions on its walls provide important information on language, myth and religion during the Greco-Roman period in ancient Egypt. In particular, the Temple s inscribed building texts provide details [both] of its construction, and also preserve information about the mythical interpretation of this and all other temples as the Island of Creation. Afternoon continue sailing to Esna and continue to Luxor. Dinner and overnight on board. DAY 7: Luxor West and East Bank- Hurghada Luxor West & East Bank Hurghada After breakfast you will visit King s valley, the Temple of Hatshepsut of el Deir El Bahary and Colossi of Memnon. Disembark the Nile Cruise and have lunch at restaurant, you will then start your tour through East Bank Luxor Temple. Originally joined to Karnack temples by an avenue of sphinxes, visit Karnak Temple which covers a very big area and includes several temples, the largest being the Temple of Amon. Luxury coach transfer to Hurghada. Check in at your hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
DAY 8: Hurghada Breakfast at Hotel. Full day at leisure. Snorkeling, exploring Hurghada or enjoy the water sports thats to offer.(on your own account) Enjoy dinner at hotel. DAY 9: Hurghada Breakfast at hotel. Morning at leisure. Enjopys the afternoon on a private glass boat trip in the Red Sea. Dinner at Hotel. Evening at leisure DAY 10: Hurghada-Cairo-Johannesburg Breakfast at hotel. Check out of hotel and enjoy your last few hours in Hurghada. Luxury bus transfer back to Cairo(5 hours) In Cairo you will have the oppertunity to do some last minute shopping at the local mall or at El Khalili. El Khalili is also where you will be enjoying your last lunch in Egypt. Depart to airport. Check in for your overnight flight back to Johannesburg. Dinner will be served during the flight. DAY 11: Johannesburg Arrive back in South Africa at OR Tambo International where family and friends will be awaiting your return
