1 Executive Summary The Cayman Islands Department f Turism half year reprt aims t deepen the understanding f turism perfrmance based n the Cayman Islands Immigratin Department (Immigratin) data and the Cayman Islands Department f Turism (CIDOT) Visitr Exit Survey results cllected during the perid f 1 January t 30 June 2016. The CIDOT cnducted a randm sample survey fr the stayver visitr market which is nw presented as the CIDOT Visitr Exit Survey Results. The destinatin had a ttal arrival f 210,490 air visitrs fr the first half f 2016 which was a 1.41% decline when cmpared t the same perid last year. Of the arrivals, the USA accunted fr 80.09%, Eurpe at 6.93%, Canada at 6.69% and the Other categry at 6.3%. The ttal turism visitr impact which includes bth air and cruise visitrs fr the same perid was at 5.4% increase year ver year. The main purpse f visit remains as recreatinal/ leisure. The average length f stay fr the destinatin was 6.02 days. Intentins t return t the Cayman Islands by air were psitive fr 96.5% f the respndents. Ttal Cayman Islands visitr expenditure fr the time perid f July 2015 June 2016 was estimated t be KY$574.1 millin. This data will be analyzed and used t infrm marketing decisins and help supprt thse industries that rely n turism.

4 Backgrund and Objectives The research bjectives f the Exit Survey were tailred t measure and track the verall experiences f stay-ver visitrs thrughut the data cllectin perid. The survey is designed t track the demgraphic prfiles, travel experiences, intentins, mtivatins, and spending patterns f stay-ver visitrs. Visitr Exit Survey bjectives include the fllwing: T btain a snapsht f the targeted demgraphics; T determine the percentage f visitrs travelling tgether (party size); T ascertain the key media influences that impacted the decisin t travel t the Cayman Islands; T establish spending patterns and track verall visitr expenditures; T determine visitrs satisfactin levels assciated with their experiences in the Cayman Islands; T explre visitrs perceptins f the Cayman Islands cmpared t ther warm weather destinatins; T determine the likelihd f visitrs returning t the Cayman Islands; T better understand the factrs that influenced all visitrs t travel t the Cayman Islands; and T btain visitr cntact infrmatin fr direct marketing and prmtinal purpses.

5 CIDOT Visitr Exit Survey Methdlgy Methdlgy: A 10 minute survey was administered via tablets Face-t-face interviews at Owen Rberts Internatinal Airprt Survey has 103 Questins (sme questins are skipped based n previus respnse) The survey was cnducted frm 1 January 30 June 2016 99% cnfidence level and a margin f errr at 3.5% Eligibility: Nn-residents (Visitrs) Stay ver visitr (n island fr at least 24 hurs) Excluded: Seasnal wrkers Other shrt-term wrkers Lng-term wrkers Crews n public mdes f transprt
