July 2017 TO PARENTS OF YEAR 7 AND NEW SIXTH FORM STUDENTS ATTENDING JFS FROM SEPTEMBER 2017 Dear Parent(s) TRANSPORT TO THE SCHOOL SITE I write with details of transport arrangements to the School, effective from the start of next term. I enclose a borough by borough explanation of the routes to The Mall. Details of bus routes are also posted on the JFS website www.jfs.brent.sch.uk. This section of the website is password protected and the password is currently: jfsinfo5777 There is important information about the starting times for all students at the commencement of the academic year, when starting times vary for new Year 7 and Year 12 students on the first day of term. Any changes to details to the information contained in this booklet will be publicised on the School s website just before the start of the term. In respect of the transport by bus, please be aware that it cannot be guaranteed that there will be sufficient capacity on any one bus at any particular time. Therefore we urge parents to ensure their children get to their bus stop in plenty of time, particularly as students need to be in the classroom by 8.30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 8.40 am on Tuesdays, for the start of their lessons and registration (please see over for start times on induction days). Those students travelling to Kingsbury Station by bus or train are advised to plan to arrive at Kingsbury no later than 8.10 a.m so as to give themselves sufficient time to walk from the station to School. I take this opportunity to point out to you that part of the School s obligation to the London Borough of Brent includes observance of the terms of a Green Travel Plan. This incorporates a commitment to encourage travel to the site by walking, cycling or public transport. Racks are provided for 100 bikes. Only those students travelling with a sibling to the adjacent Michael Sobell Sinai School, or with a member of staff of JFS, or disabled students, will be permitted to enter the site in a car during School hours. I do hope that all parents and students observe this requirement in order that the School can meet its legal commitments to Brent. Failure to do so increases traffic congestion, damages relationships with our neighbours and could result in the School facing possible consequences in connection with the implementation of the Green Travel Plan. I hope you find this letter and the enclosed information helpful.
