YOUR OPERA JOURNEY: HAMBURG Day 1 June 21 Upon arrival into Hamburg, you will be met at the airport and transferred by private vehicle directly to your hotel. Settle into your accommodation 'The Sofitel Hamburg Alter Wall' in the centre of Hamburg. Your afternoon is at leisure to relax. At 6.00pm join us for drinks and canapés on the waterfront terrace of the hotel for our 'Welcome Soiree, to meet The Travelling Tenor and your fellow companions. Day 2 June 22 Enjoy a hearty breakfast, before setting out on your first morning in Hamburg. This morning we meet at 11.00am for a special private tour of the Hamburg Rathaus 'Town Hall'. Its impressive architecture dominates the centre of the city. The magnificent sandstone building houses the city's senate and parliament and is usually not open to the public. The rest of your day is at leisure to further explore the city. Perhaps take a stroll along the banks of the Elbe river, or head to the St. Pauli district to the unique Park Fiction (Gezi Park) an urban oasis and art project, shaped like a park. Meals: Breakfast Day 3 June 23 This morning you may wish to join Deborah Humble on a walk through Hamburg's most famous market, the Isemarkt, to sample some local produce and pick up that special something to take home. Alternatively, you may choose to enjoy your day at leisure taking in the sights of Hamburg. The Travelling Tenor and concierge will be on hand to provide you with some other interesting sightseeing options. This afternoon we take a guided tour of the new, state of the art Elbphilharmonie. This concert hall opened in January 2017 and is a cutting-edge facility which has quickly become the most exciting concert hall in the world! The building itself offers a unique 360-degree view of the city and harbour from its viewing platform, open to the public. Meals - Breakfast
Day 4 June 24 Enjoy a relaxed breakfast. The rest of your day is at leisure to enjoy the sights of Hamburg. Late afternoon, we invite you to join us for an exclusive private recital from Wagnerian mezzo soprano Deborah Humble, accompanied by Sharolyn Kimmorley AM. The recital will take place at Rudolf Steiner Haus from 4.00pm - 5.00pm. Then join us for dinner at 6.00pm, with special guests Deborah and Sharolyn. This is your chance to chat about all things music, opera and Hamburg! Meals - Breakfast & Dinner HAMBURG/KIEL Day 5 June 25 Breakfast and checkout will be followed by a group transfer to the train station where we travel by 1st class rail from Hamburg to Kiel. Upon arrival in Kiel we will transfer to our boutique accommodation the Hotel Birke. Take time to settle in before our welcome dinner this evening at 7.00pm at the Michelin Star 'Restaurant Weinstein. Plus meet and greet with special guest - Australian heldentenor, Bradley Daley, who stars as Siegfried in the Kieler Ring. Meals - Breakfast & Dinner KIEL Day 6 June 26 After Breakfast, the rest of your day is completely at leisure. Today is the perfect opportunity to discover the urban flair and maritime atmosphere of this harbourside city. With a modern city centre and contrasting Old Town with late 19 th century buildings, wander down shopping streets such as the Dänische Strasse and take in the monuments and old buildings. Be sure to take time to rest and then dress for the first performance in Wagner s Ring Cycle this evening - Das Rheingold at 7.30pm.
Day 7 June 27 After breakfast, join us at 11.00am for an exclusive private backstage tour of Kiel Opera House. Kiel Opera House is the city's major venue for opera, ballet, and orchestral performances. It was designed by architect Heinrich Seeling and built from 1905 to 1907. This evening s performance - Die Walküre at 5.00pm Day 8 June 28 Today your day is completely at leisure. You may like to take a Castles, Properties and Manor house tour. Or if you re feeling like a little adventure, Kiel is a great city to explore by bike! The Travelling Tenor and concierge will be more than happy to give you some other interesting sightseeing options. Day 9 June 29 Your day is at leisure, prior to the performance this evening. Performance - Siegfried at 5.00pm Day 10 June 30 Today we have a wonderful, full day group excursion to the city of Lübeck, including lunch. Go on a voyage of discovery through the historic Old Town. Lübeck s medieval centre was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1987. Set off and discover the narrow winding streets, the hidden alleys and courtyards of the UNESCO world heritage site. And don't forget: Take a look up and marvel at the famous seven spires. & Lunch
Day 11 July 01 Your last day in Kiel is completely at leisure, prior to the final performance late this afternoon. Performance - Götterdämmerung at 4.00pm Day 12 July 02 After breakfast, we bid farewell to the Travelling Tenor and our fellow opera companions and new friends, as our tour comes to an end.
