15.30 Networking Coffee Break SPEAKERS Nick Godwin, Managing Director, Commsoft Nick Godwin graduated from Southampton University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His career started in 1980 with British Aerospace, where he worked for 23 years. During these years, Nick was heavily involved in leading the worldwide marketing of BAE Systems Regional Aircraft products and services, including the Jetstream and ATP families of turboprop aircraft and the Avro RJ/BAe146 jet airliners. Nick was part of the team that helped create Aero International Regional (AI(R)), a Joint Venture with the Franco-Italian turboprop airliner manufacturer, ATR based in Toulouse. Nick also served for 9 years as an elected Board Member of the European Regions Airline Association. In 2004 Nick became Marketing Director at Civil Aviation for Data Systems and Solutions ( DS&S ), a subsidiary of Rolls Royce. Nick joined Commsoft as Business Development Director in May 2008 and was responsible for winning new customer business, growing the existing customer base and securing relationships. In November 2011, Nick was appointed Managing Director of Commsoft. Ben Jacques, Commercial Manager, IBA Group Ben joined IBA after a decade in aviation. He began his career with BMI in 2000 in a customer service focused role at their London Gatwick ground handling operation. Ben worked his way through the ground handling hierarchy, moving into dispatch and then operations, before leaving the company in 2006 to join Air Partner. The next three years were spent working his way up through their Commercial and Leasing teams before being promoted to Group Quality Manager. This role saw him managing Air Partner s due diligence regarding airlines, utilising his training in QMS and SMS development with IATA. In 2010, Ben was delighted to accept a fresh challenge, becoming IBA s Commercial Manager, bringing not only his good reputation, but also a sound sales knowledge and industry understanding to the consultancy. David Louzado, Sales Director, Risk & Asset Management, Airclaims David Louzado joined Airclaims in 2012 as Sales Director of the Risk & Asset Management Services division. Prior to joining Airclaims David worked for Falko Regional Aircraft (previously BAE Systems Regional Aircraft - Asset Management) as Vice President of Fleet Services (Technical Operations). David brought to Airclaims a depth of experience and expertise in aviation that ranged from managing major aircraft leasing, deliveries, refurbishments and repossession/recovery projects, to sales and business development. His career has included time at Thomson Fly as Group Leader - Engineering Leasing and similar roles at both Britannia Airways and Easyjet.
Bart Mak, Mak Aircraft Engineering Services Bart started off as an aviation enthusiast building model airplanes as a boy and is fortunate enough to have been able to have made a career in aviation. Currently he is pursuing his Bachelor s degree in Airworthiness at Cranfield University on a part time basis. He started of with a Bachelor s degree in aeronautics during which he did his apprenticeship with Bristow Helicopters and KLM widebody maintenance as a mechanic on the shop floor. Subsequently a couple of positions were held over the years as planning engineer, structures engineer supporting KLM s 747 operation and heavy maintenance line and finally as a senior structures engineer. In the early nineties he moved to Martinair as a technical fleet manager. Initially managing the maintenance of the KLM Cityhopper fleet of 10 Fokker 50 s and 4 F-28 s in the beginning which later developed into 12 Fokker 50 s and 10 Fokker 70 s. Eventually he managed the sale and transfer of the F-28 s and the Fokker 50 s to a different MRO and took Martinair s B747 fleet and kept managing the Fokker 70 s. After a short period as managing Director of Qualitair Holland, he started his own aviation consultancy business in 2002 and has been involved with many aircraft transition projects over the years, supporting both the Aircraft Leasing Industry as well as the Airline Industry. Aircraft types have been diverse but mainly Boeing models 737, 757 and 767 and Airbus A320 series models but also Embraer ERJ-145 s, ATR s and A300 s. Bart was also involved with setting up an engine QEC strip and build shop and obtaining it s Part 145 approval with the OSAC.
