PLEASE BRING: Lunch, boots, water (at least 2 litres), snacks, medication (if required to be carried or taken during walk). CLUB NEWS EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA Extra Walks coming up. This newsletter has been held up and subsequently truncated as offers have come in to add walks to the calendar to accommodate other groups to be led. There are finer details to be produced as once gained, but the same group we took out is once again requesting a walk in mid-june, and there will be 4

Apr 2018 training walks for the participants of the Great Ocean Walk. This will include a weekend at Girraween to accommodate the two walkers from Goondiwindi. As an aside, I am considering forming a Diabetes Walking Club so that there is more exposure to the health aspects of walking in the management of Diabetes. Diabetes Qld is in support of such an idea. Fundraising Agenda The following fundraising activities for Diabetes Qld are on the Bushwalking Queensland Inc. Calendar: BVRT TREK 4 DQ Based on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail there are three events: 100km - Moore to Cricket Pitch, Pine Mountain Road, Pine Mountain - 13-15 July 2018 25km - Native Garden, Lowood to Cricket Pitch, Pine Mountain Road, Pine Mountain - 15 July 2018 15km - Fernvale Futures Centre to Cricket Pitch, Pine Mountain Road, Pine Mountain - 15 July 2018 If interested see Gavin. GREAT OCEAN ROAD TREK 2018 This year the walk is from 18-24 October 2018, with similar format to previous years. Day 1-18 October - fly to Tullamarine (Melbourne) Airport. Conveyed to Bimbi Park, Cape Otway by bus. Day 2-19 October - walk Apollo Bay to Blanket Bay - about 22 km - conveyed to and from Bimbi Park Day 3-20 October - walk Blanket Bay to Bimbi Park via Cape Otway - about 16 km - conveyed to Blanket Bay Day 4-21 October - walk Bimbi Park to Johanna Beach via Station Beach and Rainbow Falls - about 18km - conveyed to Bimbi Park Day 5-22 October - walk Milanesia Gate to Moonlight Head - 24 km - conveyed to and from Bimbi Park Combined Camp - 05-07 May 2018 - Mount Perry - walk in lieu Registrations are due on 21st April, and although the President was interested in going, the timing is not right to venture there. In lieu of this a discussion will be held at lunch at Baroon Pocket Dam as to what the club will do for a day walk on the 06th May. Another reason of the short newsletter. PILGRIMAGE 2018 Plans are now underway for the planning of the Pilgrimage 2018 being held at Jimna 28 September 2018 to 01 October 2018, in association with Sunshine Coast Bushwalkers Club Inc. Quite a number of walks have been identified, including new ones from the locals, so please think about being a leader. The club is programmed to have a few camps in the lead up and the owner of the Jimna Base Camp has offered free camping to do recess etc. 5
