3. Towards the future on radiation protection Trends of average individual/collective dose Towards the future for further dose reduction 24

Trend of Number of Reactors (as of 31 Dec. 2015) Number of Plant 60 50 40 30 20 10 0 Japan (Data source: ISOE Annual Report) Korea Year 22 BWR 10 BWR(permanent shutdown) 21 PWR 3 PWR(permanent shutdown) 1 GCR(permanent shutdown) 1ATR(permanent shutdown) 20 PWR 4 PHWR 2014 2015 25

Trend of Average Individual Dose Average Individual Dose (msv/person) 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.5 1.0 0.5 0.0 Japan Korea (Data source: ISOE Information Sheet, ISOE ATC website) (due to the Fukushima Daiichi accident) (due to the refurbishment in Wolsung Unit 1) Year 2014 26

Trend of Average Collective Dose Average Collective Dose (man Sv/unit) 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.5 1.0 0.5 0.0 Japan Korea (Japan: include permanent shutdown reactor) (due to the Fukushima Daiichi accident) (due to the refurbishment in Wolsung Unit 1) 2014 (Data source: ISOE Annual Report, ISOE ATC website) Year 27

Towards the future - For further dose reduction - Radiation safety Big contribution of human beings awareness Importance of continuous efforts on: Education of radiation protection; Training for emergency; Information exchange among relevant through e.g. ISOE network These bring large contribution to the radiation safety i.e. further dose reduction with low cost compare to the cost for the safety of structures, systems and components in NPPs. 28
