Trip Expectations Rules and Regulations Fairfax County Public School s (FCPS) Rules and Regulations will be in effect during this trip. Violations of the smoking, substance abuse, or weapons regulations will be handled in the prescribed manner. This includes the option of sending you home at your expense. It is a privilege for you to be participating in this trip and an honor for you to represent Fairfax High School (FHS). Much trust has been placed in you. Please honor that trust. During this trip you may not wander off alone. You must stay in groups of 3 or more FHS students at all times. During free time, your group must stay within the set boundaries. Never leave anyone alone. Luggage Handlers The luggage handlers will load and unload the bus. They are not responsible for carrying your personal things in or out of the hotel. Please be courteous to them. They are helping all of us. Packing Information Labels Labels with your name, home address and school name must be on every item you bring with you. Carry-on Items Carry-on items are subject to search before departure. All drinks must be in a sealed container. One small bag/backpack Snack foods, drinks and water Small cooler (may share with others) Small blanket and pillow Toiletries Prescription medicine Check-in Items One suitcase Instrument Photo ID: Students must bring a photo ID Money: Students should bring spending money for souvenirs and meals that are not part of the trip package Page 3

The Bus The first time you board the bus, go to your home seat. Sit in that seat each time you board the bus. Know your seat mate. For safety, movement in the bus should be kept to a minimum. Do not lie on the floor. The aisles must be kept clear. Respect the physical limitations of your environment do not sit on the arms of the seats, or put your feet up on the seats. You must listen to any electronic devices through headphones, not speakers. Everyone has the responsibility of keeping the bus clean. The bus drivers take great pride in their buses. Please place all trash in the trash bags. Take care not to spill drinks on the seats or floor. If you should accidentally spill anything, please wipe it up immediately. Remember to thank the driver for service that is provided. The Hotel Check In Upon arrival, chaperones will inspect your room to note damaged furniture or stains. They will also check to make sure that a sufficient number of towels have been supplied. After this point, report any room problems to your chaperone. Room Care Students are responsible for the care of the room. If individuals who damage hotel property are not identified, everyone in the room will be responsible for the cost of repairs. Curfew Curfew and lights out will be established by the directors each evening. Do not leave your room after this time. Phone Calls Do not make local or long distance calls from the room phone; use a cell phone. Room phones may be used to call between rooms. These room to room calls should not be made in excess and not after curfew. Pool Swimming pool hours will be announced once at the hotel. Since hotel pools do not have lifeguards, there will be no swimming without chaperones present. Page 5
General Rules It is important to remember that the FHS music department is not the only guest in the hotel. With this in mind, here are some basic guidelines to follow: No running No yelling or screaming Do not slam doors or beat/stomp on the walls/floors Clean up after yourself Large radios/cd players should not be brought into the hotel Checkout Before departing, all personal items should be placed outside your hotel room. Wait for your chaperone to conduct a room inspection. Once this is done, take your belongings to the bus to be loaded. Students are not to return to their hotel room after the inspection. Miscellaneous Visiting family or friends in the Orlando area This is permissible if it has been discussed with your director before leaving Fairfax. What to do about a problem with another person In all situations, let your director or the chaperones handle any problems that arise. Keep your cool and maintain your good manners. Page 6
