Municipality of Tripoli The Municipality of Tripoli is located in the sender of Peloponnese at 650 meters. It is mountainous area, that extents in 1,475,805 sq. km in Plateau Mantinea, with 47,2541 inhabitants. Municipality is predominantly rural with a developed tourism sector. Due to its geographical position is an administrative center. In city of Tripoli is established the Central Regional Administration of Peloponnese, Regional Command of the army, the "University of Peloponnese." The Municipality has a variety infrastructures in all fields: national road, road connections with the rest of region, Industrial zone, Windmill park, Hotel infrastructures, ecotourism accommodations, ski center, City Conference Centre, indoor swimming pool and sports center. The Municipality, frequently, organizes important cultural events and sports events at national level. In the surrounding area it is also established, large number of administrative agencies and small and medium enterprises. The area is rich of cultural monuments, archaeological sites, places of natural beauty, protected areas Nature 2000, lake with rich and rare biodiversity and settlements of rural tourism interest, visible caves KAPSIA, National Forest, places of cultural and religious interest. The city of Tripoli has recently developed a new urban identity and is a vibrant urban center that gathers the plurality of economic activities in the region. 1 Population census 2011

Archaeological places Ancient Mantinea: The Mantinea was the largest and most important cities of antiquity, and became an important center of historical development not only in the region of Arcadia, where it belonged, but also in whole Greece. The first excavations began in the late 19th century and around 1960 came to light and other departments. The most important monuments that can be seen when visiting the archaeological site of Mantinea is the ancient theater of the deputies, parts of the ancient Agora, Roman baths and a temple that was dedicated to Artemis. Across the archaeological site can also be visited the Christian church of Agia Fotini, a combination of Greek and Byzantine architecture is divided as to its aesthetics. Ancient Orchomenus: Orchomenos is just 30 miles from Tripoli and 8 km from Levidi. It was a proud citadel. It is among the oldest cities of Arcadia and the most populous. It is proven the presence of people since prehistoric times. Very important buildings have been preserved: the ancient market, the parliament, the bridge of the Archaic period, the walls, the prehistoric tumulus. The theater Orhomenos is among the most major of the ancient world buildings in Hellenistic times. In the theater many performances and competitions were held in honor of Dionysus.

Ancient Tegea: Tegea is located 10 kilometers from Tripoli on the national road to Sparta. Tegea etymologically means "sheltered." It was among the first cities of Arcadia with real architecture. Here, the legend says, was born the great lover of life, Pan. It haw reached up to 40,000 people at its peak and cut individually currency. There was the birthplace of great poets, great historian, lawmakers and heroes. A number of great personalities that came to light in Tegea. Places of natural beauty Kapsia Cave: (http://www.spilaiokapsia.gr) A complex system of sinkholes in the fertile plateau of Mantinea have created an amazing cave with the rarest colored stalactites than any other cave in Greece

Taka lake is a wetland protected area with rich and rare biodiversity The forest Mainalo with the famous fir trees. From the 1,750 m and above starts the alpine zone. The highest peak: Ostrakina (1,987 m)where are ski center, paths for hiking and biking, and often organized tours from mountaineering associations in the area. In this location takes place the main production of forestry products in the area. Stone-built traditional villages, beautiful nature, opportunities for activities (hiking and jeeping up skiing).

Locations of Historical and Cultural Interest Archaeological Museum of Tripoli It is housed in a beautiful neoclassical building that has been designed by Ernst Ziller. (Previously housed the Hospital of the Annunciation.) Today it hosts innumerable treasures of ancient Arcadian civilazation. Tripoli War Museum It has eleven thematic sections covering the struggles of the Greeks: weapons and items from the revolution of 1821, the Macedonian Struggle to the Middle East and the Liberation housed in the museum rooms.

Forest History Museum: In Chrysovitsi 1939 built a large plant timber which played an important role in the economy of Arcadia. Museum of Alexantrou Papanastasiou. The Levidi is the birthplace of the great revolutionary statesman, Alexandros Papanastasiou, which since 1976 operates the namesake museum. More cultural places squares, theaters, temples and others

Development Perspective A) The Municipality of Tripoli is planning to create a City Museum (an Interactive Museum") an institution of considerable value for the Development of Tripoli. It will be an institution which will present the historical and cultural heritage and will provide the identity of the city over time (yesterday-today-tomorrow) in relation to Diversity and Social Stratification of the modern city. The Municipality aims to make the city of Tripoli an extroverted and flagship city. The function of the museum will target in the dissemination of culture through the use of new technologies, exploiting all cultural structures and connecting Culture with Tourism. It will function as a place of meeting, dialogue and communication of all citizens and all cultural worlds. B) The Municipality of Tripoli intents to be candidate for European Capital of Culture for the year 2021. The preparation, to be a European Capital of Culture, can be an opportunity for the city to generate considerable cultural, social and economic benefits and it can help foster urban regeneration, change the city's image and raise its visibility and profile on an international scale. The municipality of Tripoli has granted the current investment program of 31.000.000,00 from the NATIONAL STRATEGIC REFERENCE FRAMEWORK 2007-2013 (NSRF) and has already implemented most of it, 20.000.000,00. By the end of 2015 will be implemented the remain amount of the program. The majority of projects were in the orientation of creation infrastructures (water supply, sanitation) and for restoration of the historic city center. C) Also has benefited and implemented programs EUROPE FOR CITIZENS 2007-2013 and LEONARDO DA VINCI total budget 300.000,00 and intend to submit proposals of total budget of 500.000,00. D) The Municipality of Tripoli is in preparation for the new programming period by utilizing the active participation of citizens aware of the situation and, therefore, should decide on the necessity of specific solutions and measures that could be a starting point of a project. Prepares projects flashing lighthouse assessing the current situation need for different solutions, and seeks joint ventures and projects. E) The aim of the Municipality for 2020 is to focus on Smart Specialization to indentify, in collaboration with the local community, the specific and unique characteristics of it, the available means in the region, the comparative advantages, the local potential and the resources around a distinct vision of the area for the future. F) This context aims to turn to Greener Growth with emphasis on promoting innovation, particularly in the area of energy use (environmentally friendly, low cost). It plans to implement projects for saving energy in the field of public lighting through the financial framework of Jessica (2.000.000,00 ) and develop project to reduce heating costs for heating for residents through funding of the new National financial framework 2014-2020 and the European Programme ELENA (a big project over 20.000.000,00euro).The Municipality for the purpose participates in Covenant of Mayors and creates alliances within the framework of HORIZON 2020. -

G) The significant contribution of urban governance ensures the creation of projects and solutions-oriented on strong demand from cities and their citizens. Cities know better the needs of their citizens and complex systems, not without this knowledge is fundamental to governance, there is a danger of adopting solutions that will not be optimal.
