Parents will feel connected to their children s camp experience through our daily letter updates sent home with each child. *Please note: Children must be toilet trained to attend. CAMP PAMACKA 1 ST THROUGH 6 TH GRADES Building confidence by accomplishing goals! Camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. Few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities. Our camps teach self-reliance and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership, amidst the fun of sports, art, games, outdoor adventure, water activities and meaningful relationships. Plus, our specialized instructors in STEM, arts and crafts, swim, and sports are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper. LEADER-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM GRADES 7-8 Teaching teens the value of teamwork and community service! The Leader-in-Training program will teach teens the value of teamwork while participating in several team building activities. Campers will be given opportunities to participate in service projects that leave a lasting impact on their camp and the local community. This is a great transitional program for teens which allows them to still participate in several traditional camp activities, including trips. COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM GRADES 9-10 Learn the skills necessary to become a successful camp counselor! This hands on Counselors-in-Training program is intended to provide teens with the opportunity to learn the basic responsibilities of being a camp counselor in a supportive environment. This program provides the perfect mix of experiential learning, leadership and fun for a memorable summer. Specialty workshops and team building exercises help build skills such as collaboration, effective teamwork, public speaking and understanding stages of youth development. Each CIT will be provided the chance to put their newly learned skills into action assisting with both camper groups and program areas. Ridgewood YMCA 112 Oak Street Ridgewood, NJ 07450 Last summer my 4 year old daughter had her first experience with the Y s Kidz Camp. It was the first time that I left her with someone other than a relative. I was worried how she would do because of the separation and it turns out she did phenomenal! She acclimated well and still talks about her experience at camp to this day! Y s Kidz Camp Parent My son has attended Camp Pamacka since he was six. He is now 9 years old and asks to return every summer. This is a professionally run camp with lots of outdoor activities, quality instruction and attentive counselors. My son likes to come home and share with us the new experiences he has, the friendships he has made and of course how much fun the GAGA Pit was! To me, that shows what a lasting impression the Ridgewood Y camp has made on him. Camp Pamacka Parent WHERE KIDS BELONG! This summer has been an amazing experience for me. When I started as a CIT I wasn t sure how it was going to be and then I met the campers and the staff I would be working with. I never really saw myself as a role model before but because of what I learned at camp, I feel I am one now. I learned how to work on a team, lead a group, and design activities. Before I joined the CIT Camp Program, I couldn t imagine being a camp counselor and now I am so excited that I can t wait!
