There is also a lounge area in which to relax. Activities include game drives and guided bush walks. Sand River Masai Mara Sitting above a sweeping bend in the Talek River, at the convergence of the Masai Mara's four game viewing areas, the camp enjoys one of the most spectacular locations in the world's best-known wilderness. The camp is a short drive from the Mara River, where more than a million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every July and August. Leisure facilities include a freeform swimming pool, kids' club, star gazing with a resident expert, cultural tours of neighbouring Masai villages, fishing trips to Lake Victoria. Located on the banks of the river from which it has taken its name, Sand River Masai Mara, part of the Elewana collection, is located within the Masai Mara National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border, on a secluded and picturesque site. It comprises 16 tents including 1 family tent. The Camp is divided into two separate but adjoining campsites, each possessing its own designated dining and public areas, thereby creating an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy. Flying Safaris Kenya has an excellent light aircraft network, giving visitors the opportunity to cover great distances in a short period of time, which in turn means that more time can be spent game viewing. This also gives visitors the luxury of choosing game reserves and destinations that are of particular interest to them, regardless of location. Many lodges and camps have their own airstrip or are located near to one, which means that there is no need for those travelling by plane to compromise on accommodation. Flying safaris can be tailored to your specific interests and are very flexible with accommodation and schedules, giving you the freedom to create a flying safari itinerary that suits you. So, if you would like to spend a couple of days in the Samburu National Park followed by a stay in the heart of the Masai Mara, then onwards to the Mombasa coast for a beach break, you can on a flying safari. Another advantage of a flying safari is that it is possible to travel to more remote and lesser known areas such as the Lewa Conservancy, famed for its black rhinos. Please note that the baggage allowance on light aircraft is strictly 15kg per person and flights may make several stops en route. Mombasa Mombasa boasts nearly 500 kilometres of tranquil white beaches, golden sand dunes, warm aqua water, archaeological treasures and idyllic secluded islands. It is the second largest city in Kenya, located on an island separated from the mainland by the Likoni Channel to the south, the Makupa Causeway to the west and Nyali Bridge and Mtwapa Bridge to the north, beyond which are the popular beach resorts of North and South Mombasa. Malindi and Watamu are a few hours north of Mombasa. Both offer excellent coral reefs with some of the best diving in Kenya. Further north is Lamu Archipelago, a small group of islands, each offering a peaceful retreat with endless beaches and crystal clear waters, and a way of life reminiscent of a bygone era. Mombasa offers the chance to combine a beach retreat with exciting game viewing at nearby Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks, where it s possible to see cheetahs, buffalo, zebras, leopards and lions amongst many other animals.
