Times Square Known colloquially as "The Crossroads of the World" and "The Great White Way," Times Square NYC is one of the most popular commercial intersections in the world! Located in central Manhattan at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue, this popular NYC attraction, especially among tourists, is home to top destinations such as the Naked Cowboy, ABC's Times Square Studios, and Planet Hollywood. The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the 2,977 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993. Page 2 of 7

The Memorial s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations. The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history. Statue of Liberty "The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was designated as a National Monument in 1924. Employees of the National Park Service have been caring for the colossal copper statue since 1933. Ellis Island Ellis Island, in Upper New York Bay, was the gateway for over 12 million immigrants to the U.S. as the United States' busiest immigrant inspection station for over 60 years from 1892 until 1954. Ellis Island was opened January 1, 1892. Page 3 of 7

Chinatown in Manhattan New York can be a delight to anyone who enjoys food, culture, entertainment, and shopping. Not only can you browse through the street markets and shops; you can also visit a restaurant or two with the cultural Chinese food you came to enjoy. There are a number of restaurants to choose from, as well as gifts to take home from the market. There is a little something for everyone who comes to enjoy a little piece of China right in New York. New York s Chinatown conveniently located right next to Little Italy on Manhattan Island is one of the oldest and largest Chinatown s outside of Asia. It is one of the largest surviving ethnic Chinese communities that are still operating with as many Chinese residents as others. There are a number of landmarks in Chinatown that tourists or locals can go to see when weather prevails. Chinatown, along with Little Italy in New York was listed in a historic district on the National Register of Historical Places in 2010. SOHO - The famously arty neighborhood of the 70s and 80s has evolved into one of New York City s prime shopping districts. SoHo (an acronym for South of Houston Street) still features galleries, though these days the work within them tends toward the more high-end commercial matching the luxury boutiques and independent-designer outposts that characterize the area. Once you ve had your dose of retail therapy, take a break with a meal at one of the neighborhood s many excellent restaurants or a drink at one of its elegant boutique hotels. Greenwich Village For most of the 20th century, was the center of downtown culture, the heart and soul of lower Manhattan. In the 60s, the Village was the birthplace of the beatnik generation. Allen Ginsberg was known to pop up at Cafe Reggio, while Bob Dylan was a regular performer at Cafe Wha. Page 4 of 7

Central Park On July 21, 1853, the New York State Legislature enacted into law the setting aside of more than 750 acres of land central to Manhattan Island to create America s first major landscaped public park; they would soon refer to it as the Central Park. Arguably one of the most famous parks in the world, Central Park is a manmade wonder. Not only is it the first public park built in America, but it is also one of the most frequently visited, with over 25 million guests per year. Set in the middle of bustling Manhattan, its grounds serve as a safe haven, not only for athletes, daydreamers, musicians, and strollers, but also for teems of migratory birds each year. One can spend an entire peaceful day roaming its grounds, gazing upon nearly 50 fountains, monuments, and sculptures or admiring its 36 bridges and arches. A carriage ride through the park is available at the entrance to the park. Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan is an Art Deco NYC landmark. Spanning 22 acres and featuring 19 commercial buildings in New York, Rockefeller Center is one of the most popular attractions in NYC. A beautiful New York destination all year long, the Rockefeller Center is home to numerous NY events, including the lighting of the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, which is broadcasted live on TV around the world each year. Page 5 of 7

Built in 1939, Rockefeller Center was the vision of famous NY businessman and philanthropist, John D. Rockefeller. This iconic NYC landmark has been featured in dozens of films and TV shows over the past century, and is home to the legendary NBC Studios and Saturday Night Live. NYC Tourists have the opportunity to go back stage and behind the scenes of some of the most popular shows on television in this one location, and there are many NYC Packages, like the NYC 30 Rock Package, that allow travelers to see even more for less. With its serene statues and beautiful art nouveau murals, Rockefeller Center is also a popular destination for art enthusiasts in NYC. With so much history and culture surrounding it, the Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan is a must-see NYC attraction for first-time visitors in New York City. St. Patrick Cathedral The story of New York s great cathedral mirrors the story of the city itself. Created to affirm the ascendance of religious freedom and tolerance, St. Patrick s Cathedral was built in the democratic spirit, paid for not only by the contributions of thousands of poor immigrants but also by the largesse of 103 prominent citizens who pledged $1,000 each. St. Patrick s Cathedral proves the maxim that no generation builds a cathedral. It is rather, a kind of ongoing conversation linking generations past, present and future. The cornerstone of St. Patrick s Cathedral was laid in 1858 and her doors swept open in 1879. It was over 150 years ago when Archbishop John Hughes announced his inspired ambition to build the new St. Patrick s Cathedral. In a ceremony at Old St. Patrick s Cathedral, Archbishop Hughes proposed for the glory of Almighty God, for the honor of the Blessed and Immaculate Virgin, for the exaltation of Holy Mother Church, for the dignity of our ancient and glorious Catholic name, to erect a Cathedral in the City of New York that may be worthy of our increasing numbers, intelligence, and wealth as a religious community, and at all events, worthy as a public architectural monument, of the present and prospective crowns of this metropolis of the American continent. Ridiculed as Hughes Folly, as the proposed, near-wilderness site was considered too far outside the city, Archbishop Hughes, nonetheless, persisted in his daring vision of building the most beautiful Gothic Cathedral in the New World in what he believed would one day be the heart of the city. Neither the bloodshed of the Civil War nor the resultant lack of manpower or funds would derail the ultimate fulfillment of Hughes dream and architect, James Renwick s bold plan. Page 6 of 7
