1-855-808-6500 THE BEST SUPPORT NUMBER YOU CAN FLY. ONE-CALL YOU VE GOT QUESTIONS. WE VE GOT ANSWERS. AND YOU VE GOT OUR NUMBER. ANYTIME At Honeywell Aerospace, the quest for perfection isn t just about the products we design and make. It s also about the way we support those products, and the people who use them. Your success depends on keeping the aircraft flying, solving problems quickly, and knowing immediate technical support is available always. In fact, when we asked customers what is the single most important service we can provide, the overwhelming answer was 24 X 7 phone support from technical experts to ensure dispatchability. So - that s exactly what Honeywell Aerospace now offers you. ANYWHERE 1-855-808-6500 One-Call Technical Assistance. 24/ 7 ANYTIME. FROM ANYWHERE. HONEYWELL AVIATION INTRODUCES ONE-CALL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. KEEPING YOU FLYING. 24/ 7 When everything is on the line, so are we. Aerospace Electronic Systems Air Transport Systems Honeywell International Inc. 21111 North 19th Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85027 Tel: 602.436.2522 Fax: 602.822.7272 May 2014 www.honeywell.com 2004 Honeywell International Inc. We've rebuilt Honeywell Technical Support to fit you. Our one goal in creating the new Honeywell technical support systems was to put you no more than one call away from the person with answers no matter what the question. To do that, we completely refigured our technical support structure. Now, Honeywell Technical Operations Center staff, Field Service Engineers (FSE,) and Product Service Engineers (PSE) work together as a cohesive Global Technical Operations unit. It's a fully staffed network of avionics and mechanical experts that makes sure you get immediate technical guidance and troubleshooting solutions to keep you flying This design brings you a tremendous depth of knowledge beyond what any single FSE could provide it gives you experience and expertise in every possible dispatch related area of concern. In fact, prior to implementing this new system, the people taking your calls at Honeywell had an average of 8 years experience. Today, you ll talk to 20-year veterans. Make the call that connects you to the network, and you re matched with an experienced support professional assigned to quickly resolve your question and get you safely flying again. In reorganizing our customer service structure, we created a dedicated Entry Into Service (EIS) support team. The team s sole function is to provide the trouble shooting, operational guidance, training, and unforeseen factors support that can come with taking delivery of a new platform. The more we help you, the smarter we get. One number lines you up with it all. Here s another advantage the new integrated system has over the old way of doing things: now, we can collect and share frequently asked questions and their solutions. So one customer s successful interaction with a Honeywell technical expert has the potential to benefit a world of flight. Technical support 24/7, experienced full-time product and support staff, consistent support for all airlines, and one-number convenience working together to increase first-call resolution. Another thing we think you ll appreciate about the system: instead of just a select few Honeywell customers having access to experts, we re bringing everyone closer to help. And, the same experts you ll talk with when you call also happen to be located throughout every customer region. So when you need on-site support, Honeywell is there. Those technical experts work in partnership with AOG teams to resolve AOGs in the most efficient way available, whether that means technical support or parts access. A couple more features to win an airline s heart. The conversations we ve had with airline customers made it clear when it comes to product fixes, they don t want to play the role of middle-man. Instead, they want Honeywell to work directly with OEMs to solve problems, and to hold off on releasing fixes until both sides agree it s the right solution. We think you re going to like what happens when you call. ACCURACY IMMEDIACY 24/7 SUPPORT 1-855-808-6500 Fair enough. So based on the service calls we collect through our new service system, we ll identify potential problem trends, contact the appropriate OEM, and get to work on a solution. Back Home

Honeywell Mark V & Mark VII EGPWS ENHANCED GROUND PROXIMITY WARNING SYSTEMS Advanced flight-safety systems

Proven performance Honeywell s Mark V and Mark VII Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS) are among the most advanced and powerful Class A Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS) available to protect against Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT). Built on more than 30 years of expertise, these top-of-the-line systems deliver high performance, precision, and reliability for retrofit or new aircraft. Not only does EGPWS protect your aircraft, it protects your bottom line as well. With certifications on almost every aircraft type, Honeywell s EGPWS has recorded more than 30 saves, has the longest service life in the category (up to 30,000 flight hours MTBF), and the lowest nuisance rate (less than 1 alert in 150,000 hours). Plus, we offer around-the clock expert service and support worldwide and free software and terrain database updates are standard. You can rely on Honeywell systems to pay off over the long haul. FAA and JAA certifications for almost any aircraft allow for streamlined installation, short downtimes, and few engineering modifications to maximize your return on investment. Advanced safety features Mark V and Mark VII EGPWS are Class A TAWS systems specifically engineered for turbofan aircraft more commonly used for commercial air transport, regional/commuter airlines, business jets, and military transport aircraft. Mark V is designed for newer digital avionics platforms; Mark VII is designed for earlier analog systems. Both systems are installed by every major aircraft OEM and can be easily retrofitted into existing aircraft. Mark V EGPWS: the digital solution The EGPWS computer utilizes primarily digital avionics input to provide alerts and warnings. The internal database includes terrain, airports with runways greater than 3,500 feet, and obstacles worldwide. With ARINC 429 input from an AHRS or IRS, the Mark V can also provide reactive windshear alerts and warnings. Mark VII EGPWS: State-of-the-art equipment for analog avionics Identical in performance to the Mark V, the Mark VII interfaces with analog avionics systems and also provides reactive windshear alerts and warnings utilizing input from an IRS or a bi-axial accelerometer. Superior situational awareness and safety By combining extensive GPWS features with state-of-the-art navigation and Honeywell s worldwide terrain, airport and obstacle database, the Mark V and VII each provide: Aural and visual display of threatening terrain and obstacles. Look-ahead warnings based on aircraft flight profile, aircraft performance, terrain, obstacles, and altitude. Terrain clearance floor alerts on approach and landing. Alerts for glideslope deviation, flaps or gear not in landing configuration, excessive bank angle, and altitude. A smart 500-feet callout when the aircraft is on a non-precision approach. Honeywell s very best EGPWS The most advanced EGPWS systems on the market, delivering maximum safety and system redundancy, Honeywell's Mark V and Mark VII offers three potentially life-saving capabilities: Windshear detection Radar AutoTilt Runway Awareness and Advisory System (optional upgrade) Protection from windshear Mark V and Mark VII EGPWS protects your planes from windshear a violent and sudden downdraft that can be fatal to aircraft. Honeywell systems provide protection and peace of mind from this invisible threat. For larger aircraft, windshear accidents occur most often during landing and takeoff, while for business jets and general aviation, such accidents are more likely during approach to landing. At larger airports, the Low Level Windshear Alert System and Terminal Doppler Weather Radar provide windshear alerts; however, not all. However, not all airports have such equipment, making on-board equipment critical. The windshear detection capabilities built into every Mark V and VII provide that protection wherever you may fly.

The most dangerous windshear condition is vertical windshear caused by air that blasts down from thunderstorms which can literally push a plane into the ground. Mark V and VII systems offer windshear detection alerts and warnings that alert pilots to help avoid such conditions. AutoTilt weather radar system When pilots encounter bad weather, their attention is sometimes focused on other critical tasks. Honeywell s patented terrain-based AutoTilt keeps the radar functioning at its optimum and reduces pilot workload during some of the busiest times of flight. The EGPWS database supplies information about the elevation of terrain ahead of the aircraft (within the selected radar display range) and AutoTilt adjusts the antenna tilt angle automatically and continuously. This avoids situations where the radar antenna is aimed too high and misses significant weather ahead of the aircraft (as can happen when climbing) or is aimed too low, so ground clutter obscures the weather picture. OVER UNDER SCAN Without AutoTilt, a pilot may have to manually adjust the angle up to 40 times during climb to obtain the same accuracy. If the antenna is aimed too low, the display will show mainly ground. If it is aimed too high, significant weather will be overscanned and missed. OPTIMUM The AutoTilt function uses terrain elevation data to continuously and automatically adjust the tilt setting to ensure the antenna is aimed directly at the weather rather than the sky above or the ground below so pilots get an accurate picture of the weather ahead. RAAS makes planes as safe on the ground as they are in the air. Honeywell s Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS) presents a viable safety solution that improves pilot situational awareness, minimizing the risk of runway incursions and reducing operational costs. As the only safety system of its kind, RAAS is an optional software upgrade for commercial aircraft fitted with Honeywell Mark V and VII EGPWS units. This quick, cost-effective upgrade activates features in existing EGPWS computers starting with 218-218 software. It provides extra protection against runway incursions or accidents without downtime and expensive changes to the flight deck. RAAS can be standardized across an aircraft fleet as a cost-effective and economical solution for reducing the risk of runway incursions. When warranted, RAAS will use voice advisories to make pilots aware of vital runway information, allowing them to avoid a wide range of potential groundbased incursions. The logic algorithms then determine the appropriate sequence and timing, adjusting advisory distances based upon aircraft groundspeed to maximize and enhance crew reaction time. RAAS a software-only upgrade to the Mark V and VII EGPWS is already making planes as safe on the ground as they are in the air. Visit www.honeywell.com/raas.

Commercial Aviation s Most Powerful Integrated RTA Weather Radar With Turbulence Detection Operators want quality radar performance, improved reliability and advanced features they also want a light integrated receiver/transmitter/antenna (RTA) architecture that s easy to install. Honeywell s Primus 440/660/880 family of radars meet these requirements and are by far the most powerful, feature-packed weather radars on the market. Honeywell, the world s leader in avionics continues to set the standard in weather radar systems with the Primus 440, 660 and 880 family of radars. THE PRIMUS 440, 660 AND 880 ALL OFFER: Performance and Reliability The Primus 440, 660 and 880 are designed using all of Honeywell s weather radar expertise to provide the ultimate in both performance and reliability. The Primus 440, 660 and 880 excel in all three weather radar performance categories. Transmitter power: 10 kilowatts of power allows for unsurpassed range in class. Pulse width: Primus 440, 660 and 880 s narrow pulse width provides better resolution of the reflected signal which makes it easier to distinguish ground from weather. Receiver sensitivity: Primus 440, 660 and 880 s high receiver sensitivity allows the radar to detect extremely weak signals from distant storms Primus 440, 660 & 880 vs. Its Hostile Environment A radar system is installed in one of the most hostile environments on an aircraft the nose. Water in the radome can cause weather radar problems. Primus 440, 660 & 880 has been designed to work in the worst of all environments, even a direct shower. Installation Since the Primus 440, 660 & 880 are RTAstyle radar, installation is straight-forward. The system requires only a display and a control panel to complete the package. Weather Detection Rainfall intensity levels are displayed in four brilliant colors contrasted against a black background. The result is a crisp display that makes any target readable under any cockpit lighting conditions. Magenta represents areas of severe rainfall, red shows heavy rainfall, yellow represents medium rainfall and green indicates light rain. To help in analyzing the storm, Honeywell s Primus 440, 660 and 880 informs pilots of the operating mode, distance to each range mark and antenna tilt angle. Displays Primus 440, 660 and 880 naturally integrate with EFIS as well as a number of stand-alone radar displays and multifunction displays. REACT Honeywell s exclusive Rain Echo Attenuation Compensation Technique (REACT) safety feature alerts pilots to areas where storms may be hidden behind other storms. REACT performs three distinct functions. First, it maintains target calibration by compensating for attenuation caused by intervening rainfall. Second, REACT advises pilots of areas where target calibration cannot be maintained by changing the screen background to blue, warning that attenuation may be hiding areas of severe weather. Third, any target displayed in the blue field will appear in magenta to alert the pilot to its probable severity. BITE Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) features complete RF loop-back which continuously tests the transmitter power and receiver sensitivity and reports any faults to the pilot. BITE also monitors the time of operation in every mode, the time at incremental altitudes and the time at incremental temperature to help service technicians identify any faults. LIGHTNING SENSOR SYSTEM Honeywell s optional LSZ-860 Lightning Sensor System (LSS) protects aircraft from the inherent hazards of lightning. The overlay of lightning information onto the precipitation/turbulence display of the Primus 440/660/880 provides the safest and most powerful severe weather avoidance tool available today. THE PRIMUS 660 AND 880 ADDITIONAL FEATURES INCLUDE: Target Alert Target Alert (TGT) notifies the pilot of potentially hazardous targets directly in front of the aircraft that are not yet within the selected range. When T is displayed in green, Target Alert is armed. When the yellow TGT is displayed (left), the pilot is warned of a red level target directly in front of the aircraft (within ±7.5 of the aircraft s nose). Dual Mode Dual Mode With two controllers, Primus 660 and 880 can be operated like two separate radars. The pilot s controller settings are used for one sweep, then the co-pilot s are used for the subsequent sweep. Sector Scan In normal mode, Primus 660 and 880 scans once every four seconds. In Sector Scan (SECT) mode, the scan rate increases to two seconds when faster updates are needed due to storm activity directly ahead on short range. THE PRIMUS 880 ADDITIONAL FEATURES INCLUDE: Ground Mapping Ground mapping (GMAP) is a navigation aid, and the Primus 880 has a mode specifically for depicting terrain features. Turbulence Detection Turbulence exposes pilots, passengers and aircraft to unnecessary risk that may be present in any level of precipitation even those with weak radar returns that may appear safe to fly through. The Primus 880 radar uses advanced Doppler pulse pair processing techniques to detect spectrum spreading caused by turbulence within any storm cell regardless of rainfall rates. Once detected, the turbulent areas are displayed in white on all ranges up to 50 nautical miles. This allows pilots to safely maneuver around uncomfortable, possibly hazardous weather. Altitude Compensated Tilt (ACT) ACT allows easier detection of weather that may affect the aircraft in an en route condition and reduces the amount of tilt management required by the pilot. When ACT is selected, the Primus 880 reads the altitude and selected range, then points the antenna at the ground just inside the selected range. ACT automatically adjusts the tilt with any change in altitude. ACT also changes the tilt control from the normal ±15 to ±2 for finer control. REACT Target Alert Sector Scan Ground Mapping Turbulence Detection

As a key component of the FAA s nextgeneration performance-based navigation system, RNP SAAAR procedures allow aircraft to fly more precise approaches and departures, increasing operational efficiency while reducing operating costs, noise and emissions. To help gain FAA approvals for RNP SAAAR, Honeywell provides a full range of consulting services, including operational approvals, navigation data validation, and monitoring program to quickly guide operators through the FAA operational approval process and maintain compliance with all regulations. RNP Approaches For decades, modern aviation has relied on ground-based navigation aids, but recent industry developments are driving the adoption of RNP techniques using global positioning system (GPS) as a method of increasing capacity and improving traffic flow. RNP enables aircraft to fly more precise approaches, providing benefits for lower minima operations, more favorable routing in congested or terrainchallenged and special use airspace, noise abatement compliance, improved safety, and lower operating cost. A combination of onboard navigation technology, precise sensors and the GPS satellite network keep aircraft within a tightly specified airspace corridor. Aircraft can precisely fly a wide variety of desired flight paths including curved paths to avoid terrain and obstacles, thereby overcoming limitations of conventional instrument procedures. Operational Approvals RNP SAAAR Approach Procedure Sun Valley Idaho Hailey Airport (KSUN) RNAV (RNP) Runway 31 Lowest approach minimums give highest availability to Sun Valley (2% improvement over the GPS RNAV approach) Per FAA Advisory Circular 90-101, operators are required to obtain approvals from the FAA to fly RNP approach procedures. Operators would need to show compliance by meeting the specific requirements for equipment, flight operations, and navigation database integrity. Additionally, aircraft must be equipped with FMS, IRS, GPS, EGPWS with terrain and obstacle alerting, and flight management system software to meet the minimum aircraft requirements needed to conduct flight operations with RNP levels <0.3 nm. Go Direct Services Go Direct provides a full line of services to not only help ease the burden of the FAA approval process, but also to simplify the implementation of RNP SAAAR into your flight operations. Improving flight safety through stabilized approaches.

Honeywell s Stabilized Approach Monitor integrates into standard equipment and procedures to cost-effectively reduce landing risks and the potential for runway excursions. Unstable approaches are a key safety concern that can result in hard landing or excursion incidents or accidents. With about 29 global runway excursions for commercial aircraft and numerous more for business aviation aircraft each year, errant aircraft approaches are primarily caused by human error. Although most of these runway incidents are not fatal, the estimated annual economic impact is in excess of to $900 million. From a pioneer in flight safety, the Honeywell Stabilized Approach Monitor provides a cost-effective, near-term solution to address this globally important issue by reducing incident risk, lowering maintenance costs and preserving passenger confidence. Stabilizing Approaches Most operators, as well as the Flight Safety Foundation, define stabilized approaches using the following criteria: Defined altitude gates Should be stable at 1000 feet above the field MUST be stable at 500 feet above the field Aircraft properly configured to land If the aircraft approach is outside of the tolerance range, usually either too high or too fast, the result can be hard landings, runway overruns due to excessive speed on landing with insufficient runway length left to properly stop, or other anomalies that cause damage to aircraft, passenger injuries and in the worst case, loss of life. Using the aircraft s Global Positioning System (GPS) position, landing gear position, landing flaps position, aircraft speed*, approach reference speed, altitude, vertical speed, approach profile and Honeywell s Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) runway database information, the Stabilized Approach Monitor alerts pilots to conditions that are outside of standard operating procedures (SOP) in order to help reduce the risk of an unstable approach. Aircraft Alerts Under normal landing conditions no alerts would be heard the Stabilized Approach Monitor is silent. Examples: Configured to land, and On a coupled approach, or However, if the stable approach criteria are not met, the system provides five non-routine verbal announcements, supplemented with visual messages within the terrain display, to the flight crew advising them of the situation: Identification if the landing gear is not down Identification if the landing flaps are not set Identification if the aircraft approach speed* is too fast compared to the target approach speed* Identification if the approach angle to the destination runway becomes too steep Notification if the aircraft approach is not stabilized prior to landing. Gear-Gear Operators can customize the Stabilized Approach Monitor to fit their needs, evaluating and selecting the desired alerts, appropriate volume levels, and thresholds that meet their needs. Designed to integrate directly with Standard Operating Procedures and Flight Operation Quality Assurance (FOQA) programs, the Stabilized Approach Monitor can also provide increased SOP compliance and improved FOQA audit results. Simple Installation The Stabilized Approach Monitor takes advantage of the EGPWS and associated worldwide runway database. Requiring only a simple software upgrade to an existing MK V EGPWS with direct GPS input or internal GPS capability, this system can be installed in less than an hour, reducing the impact on operations. In some cases an additional change may be required to provide approach reference speed information. Key Benefits Decreases the risk of runway excursions Decreases costs associated with aircraft damage resulting from runway excursions Increases the likelihood of stabilized approaches Simple EGPWS software upgrade minimizes aircraft downtime Integrates directly into SOP and FOQA programs Increases cockpit efficiency with reduced pilot workload Global operations support with worldwide airport runway databases Aircraft on correct vertical path Following a guided approach (e.g., ILS), or Flaps-Flaps Aircraft on speed Following the standard flight path for a visual approach. 950 Too High-Too High Too Fast-Too Fast* Unstable-Unstable 450 No Alerts 300 5 NM from the destination runway Stabilized Approach Monitor Normal Straight-In Approach Stabilized Approach Monitor Unstable Approach * The addition of aircraft speed, and the associated "Too Fast" callout, will be available in a future update

Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS) Taxiway, take-off and landing aural advisory system Reducing the risk of runway incursions is a top priority for the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and for air traffic agencies worldwide. Runway safety management is a dynamic process that involves measuring runway incursions, understanding the factors that contribute to runway collision risks and taking action to reduce those risks. Civil Aviation Concerns The FAA conducts annual statistical studies focusing on runway incursions, airport design and traffic flow, as well as studies focusing on human factors. In addition to training programs, they also collaborate with other countries to investigate technological solutions and operational methods which can reduce the risks of incursions and incidents 1. The challenge of reducing runway incidents is being increasingly felt worldwide as global air traffic increases. Recently, it has been reported that Eurocontrol estimates that there are as many as two incursions every day, with up to 10% of them being serious 2. Over the last five years, several international agencies have formed groups to research runway safety, including participation from JAA (Japan), ICAO (China), FAA (US), EuroControl (Europe), major international airports, pilots, trade organizations and consortiums. These groups are working together to develop safer runways, to improve training and to research technology-based solutions that will help Warnings of impending runway incursions need to go directly to the pilots and air traffic controllers...airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS) is not adequate to prevent serious runway collisions because of its operational limitations and the fact that it provides warnings to the controllers instead of the pilots. Logic algorithms create a virtual box around the EGPWS runway(s) and activate RAAS to announce the aircraft s position, such as Approaching Runway 24L or On Runway 24L when the aircraft is entering or approaching an active runway. The logic algorithms also determine the appropriate advisory sequence and timing based on the aircraft s ground speed and the remaining length of the runway. The speed at which the advisories are heard increases to maximize and enhance the crew s time to react. For instance, if the aircraft's speed is greater than 40 knots and it is not on a runway, On taxiway! On taxiway! will be heard by the pilots if that advisory has been enabled. Advisory Options Operating environments and procedures are customer specific. Therefore, customers evaluate and test all ten RAAS advisory options prior to selecting their configured software. Customers base their selection on a variety of factors which may include pilot familiarity with the destination airports, the typical amount of traffic or risk associated with the airports they serve, and their standard operating procedures. Two of the routine advisories are always activated Approaching runway (on ground) and On runway (Runway ID) while the remaining eight advisories are categorized as either Routine Advisories (advisories regularly heard by flight crew) or Non-Routine Advisories (advisories only heard if there is a potential problem.) INTEGRATED SAFETY SOLUTION FOR BUSINESS AVIATION Reducing the Risks of Runway Incursions and Collisions

Honeywell s Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS) is a valuable safety solution that improves pilot situational awareness, minimizing the risk of runway incursions and reducing operational costs. A safe flight begins before you ever leave the ground. A leading cause of aviation fatalities, runway incursions account for approximately $1 billion annually in aircraft damages. To help prevent such losses, close calls and collisions, the industry requested a safety system that helps maintain situational awareness during taxiing and preparing for takeoff and landing. Because the loss of positional awareness is a causal factor in a majority of runway incursions, Honeywell has developed an easy-to-install heads-up advisory system to help the crew maintain awareness during ground and air operations relative to the runway. 4% - AIRCRAFT LANDED AT WRONG AIRPORT 10% - AIRCRAFT LANDED ON WRONG RUNWAY As the only safety system of its kind, RAAS is an optional software upgrade for business aircraft fitted with Honeywell Mark V and VII Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) units. This quick, cost-effective upgrade activates features in existing EGPWS computers starting with 218-218 software (and units that can be upgraded to it). RAAS provides extra protection against runway incursions and accidents without downtime and expensive changes to the flight deck. Later versions of software have added key features such as volume adjustment, advisory muting / inhibit and advisory selection capability. 9% - AIRCRAFT TOOK-OFF ON WRONG RUNWAY (OR TAXIWAY) 6% - AIRCRAFT TO VEHICLE COLLISION System Operation RAAS uses aircraft inputs within the EGPWS such as GPS position, heading, groundspeed and a runway database to generate 10 aural advisories. There are nearly 2,000 airports comprising 6,000 runways in the current database. Additions/updates are made three times per year and are made available to operators at no additional charge. Specific airports/runways can also be added upon customer request. The extensive database helps to keep pilots informed, especially in highly congested or unfamiliar airports with complex operating environments. When warranted, RAAS will use voice advisories to make pilots aware of vital runway information, allowing them to avoid a wide range of potential groundbased incursions. The logic algorithms then determine the appropriate advisory sequence and timing, adjusting advisory distances based upon aircraft groundspeed to maximize and enhance crew reaction time. Aircraft Advisories The system offers five routine voice advisories with an additional five non-routine call-outs for special circumstances. The limited number of advisories reduces cockpit chatter and permits the pilot to quickly react to specific situations without needing to monitor additional screens or flight deck hardware. Crews evaluate and select the advisories and audio levels appropriate to their operation. All advisories are delivered over the aircraft s audio system (speakers or headphones) in the operator s preference of a male or female voice announced in either feet or meters. Additionally, an optional RAAS inhibit switch is available to silence advisory messages during operation. Software upgrades for efficient and precise navigation. Honeywell s FMS 6.1/7.1 software allows business aircraft operators the operational benefits offered by emerging technologies with its newest software upgrade for the FMZ-2000 and Primus Epic flight management systems. Future Air Navigation System (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with Honeywell and others in the air transport industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of airspace using automatic dependent surveillance and data link technology. FANS plays a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management) strategies and mandates an evolution that has been underway for more than ten years. Key elements of Future Air Navigation System (FANS): FANS encompasses a set of defined software features required within the FMS: AFN Air Traffic Services (ATS) Facilities Notification ADS-A/C Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Addressed or Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract CPDLC Controller / Pilot Data Link Communication RNP Required Navigation Performance Flight Plan Updates When FANS is implemented on business jets, operators will be able to take advantage of several needed improvements: Reduced separation between airplanes More efficient route changes Satellite datalink communication More direct routings Fewer or no departure delays No altitude loss when crossing tracks Summary The fuel savings, added payload, enroute time reduction and maintenance cost savings clearly make a compelling case for making your aircraft FANS capable. Operators of long-range business jets equipped today with FMS, GPS, CMU/DMU, SATCOM and VHF Data radio can enjoy the benefits of FANS operation with a simple software upgrade. Required Navigation Performance (RNP) For decades, modern aviation has relied on ground-based navigation aids, but recent developments in the industry are driving the adoption of Required Navigation Performance (RNP) techniques as a method of increasing capacity and enhancing traffic flow. RNP enables aircraft to fly more precise approaches, providing benefits for lower minima operations, more favorable routing in congested or terrain challenged airspace, noise abatement compliance, improved safety, and lower operating cost. A combination of onboard navigation technology, precise sensors and the GPS satellite network keep aircraft within a tightly specified airspace corridor. The aircraft can precisely fly a wide variety of desired flight paths including curved paths to avoid terrain and obstacles, thereby overcoming limitations of conventional instrument procedures. Aircraft equipment FMS, IRS, GPS, EGPWS with terrain and obstacle alerting, and FMS software upgrade Key elements of RNP: Takes full advantage of aircraft systems capability Path conformance with high degree of accuracy and repeatability Monitoring and alerting of navigation performance Curved flight paths RNP benefits to operator: Better access to terrain-challenged airports, restricted airspace Improved access to business airports in proximity to high traffic airports Enables parallel runway, converging and adjacent airport operations Fewer weather-related delays, diversions due to lower minima Better access for environmental concerns (noise) Optimized routes Fuel savings Enables early, guided turns on missed approach More reliable (repeatable), predictable flight paths Continuous descent arrivals What an operator needs for Required Navigation Performance 1 2 3 RNP procedures RNP charted procedures Navigation database Getting operational approval To conduct RNP operations with RNP levels (<0.3 nm), at a minimum the aircraft must be equipped with FMS, IRS, GPS, EGPWS with terrain and obstacle alerting, and Honeywell flight management system software. RNP Special Aircraft, Aircrew Authorization Required (SAAAR) procedures have been published by the FAA at airports including Reagan National and Palm Springs. FAA Advisory Circular 90-101 requires operators to obtain approval from the FAA to fly RNP approach procedures. The operator would need to show compliance to AC 90-101 by meeting the requirements for equipment, training, flight operations, Navigation database and RNP procedures. Striking back at severe weather

Analyzing weather... and noting a striking difference While most pilots would say that rain doesn't offer the best of flying conditions, most would agree that, by itself, it isn't necessarily enough to ground or divert a flight. What pilots need to avoid is rain containing lightning and its associated turbulence or, more importantly, areas of building thunderstorms that often have no precipitation but damaging lightning activity. Honeywell's LSZ-860 Lightning Sensor System (LSS) provides the tool to help identify areas of potentially destructive lightning. Because some of the heaviest turbulence occurs during the growth stage of a thunderstorm, before precipitation returns intensify, the LSZ-860 is the ideal complement to a weather radar. The system is designed to detect electrical discharge activity that the radar can not see. It then maps the lightning activity onto the weather radar display so the pilot can safely navigate the skies. Radar redundancy equals safety With safety being a primary objective in all Honeywell product designs, we are accustomed to designing cockpit systems with redundancy in mind. If a navigation system fails, there is back-up. If a comm fails, the pilot can revert to the other side. But what do you do if your radar fails? Honeywell s Lightning Sensor System can provide the desired backup. If there is lightning, there is the potential for destructive turbulence, hail and rain. By using the information gathered by the LSS you can safely avoid severe weather. Building thunderstorms Weather radars work by reflecting RF signals off precipitation in the clouds. When thunderstorms are beginning to build they can generate destructive turbulence and electrical activity prior to having sufficient water in them for the radar to detect. What looks like a safe flight path on radar may in fact contain significant lightning activity. The Honeywell LSS detects lightning activity out to 200 nautical miles and displays associated lightning strikes relative to their range and bearing. Cloud-to-cloud With weather radar you often see what appears to be a clear, inviting flight path between weather cells. What you don't see is the electrical activity that may be occurring between the cells. Seeing behind heavy rains Honeywell's LSS enhances the range of the weather radar by displaying electrical activity in areas where the radar signal has fully attenuated and can no longer penetrate. Weather detection symbols Lightning Alert Low rate Medium rate High rate For increased pilot awareness, all lightning signals received are displayed with a magenta lightning alert symbol. This is displayed for 5 seconds on the outside range ring at the correct bearing. Three unique lightning symbols represent the various levels of strike activity identified within the last two minutes. Symbols represent strike activity relative to the aircraft position. Up to 50 strikes can be processed on the display. Heading and velocity stabilized. Complete weather avoidance Honeywell's LSZ-860, the newest Lightning Sensor System, Proposed Flight Path LSZ-860 Typical System Lightning Sensor System detects electromagnetic discharges resulting from lightning activity and converts the signal into strikes that are displayed on a weather radar indicator or EFIS display. The LSS is an excellent enhancement to the weather radar because it detects weather information the radar cannot. 1 5 6 2 2 1. LP-860 Receiver/Processor 2. The intent of this document is to help you set up your PC so it is able to load software on the aircraft or off the aircraft using a loading bench. Should you have any problem, please contact Connie Soper @ 602-436-1477 or Jack Wood @ 501-201-0366. Equipment: 1.) Ethernet network PCMCIA card and associated dongle which must be fitted with a coaxial port 2.) 1 RG-58 Co-axial cable 3.) 1 T connector 4.) 1 Co-axial 50 ohm resistor NOTE: If you want to use your laptop or PCMCIA card RJ-45 port, a Netgear 4 port HUB can also be used (Model EN 104) to convert co-axial to RJ-45). 1) First install the PCMCIA card you will be using to interface with Primus Epic in to the PCMCIA card slot in your laptop. Please note that if you remove this card after configuring it, you may have to re-configure the connection. 2) Your PC will need to interface the aircraft LAN, which is a tri-axial. The LAN is terminated by 2 triax 50 ohm resistors. NOTE: NOTE: A Netgear 4 port HUB (Model EN 104) may also be used. If you choose to use this hardware, your PC will need an Ethernet network card and associated dongle. You will need a special cable to adapt the airplane tri-axial to standard 10Base2 coaxial, this cable is only required to access the LAN from the connection in the rear of the aircraft. 3) To connect the PC to the LAN, you have to connect the A/C LAN tri-axial cable in the "MAINTENANCE OPERATION" position (on the maintenance panel), as described on the placard located on the maintenance panel door. Then connect your PC co-axial cable to the "LAN MAINTENANCE COMPUTER" port. The following pictures are taken from a Falcon 900EX. 29 June 2004 A23-9999-023 Revision 0 Page 2 of 22
