AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED Day 02 Explore Barranco; Lima`s smallest yet most lively district with its bohemian charm and eccentric mesh of past and present. The De Osma Family Collection, Mario Testino s Collection and the Puente de los Suspiros are some of the many jewels in this exceptional district. Start your experience with the contrast of antique and contemporary in the neighboring Museums of Pedro de Osma 06

and MATE. Pedro de Osma holds the largest Colonial religious painting and sculptures collection, worked by artists inspired by Michaelangelo Buonarroti s and Bernardo Bitti s techniques, followed by a clear outlook of contemporary photography through the eyes of a cosmopolitan Peruvian artist at MATE. Wander towards the main plaza of Barranco and soak up the colonial charm in the restored architecture of the library and church. Take in the bustle of locals going about their business in the many shops and restaurants, or head towards the famous bridge of sighs, with views of the ocean, bajada de baños and the statue of Barranco s most famous artisit Chabuca grande. Barranco has so much to offer in its many specialized shops and galleries. The beautiful and colorful streets like Cajamarca and the majestic ocean views, allow you to enjoy the day getting local insider scoop from your guide. Barranco today hosts many artists, writers and musicians, and is the hub of creativity in Lima. Let Barranco romance you! Overnight at or at Hotel B, in an Atelier (Authentic) or at Miraflores Park Plaza Hotel in an Ocean View Club Junior Suite (Upgraded) or at Hotel B in an Aposento (Simplified). Day 03. For your departure, our Guest Services Representative will pick you up from your hotel and transport you to Lima International Airport. You will receive assistance with your departure flight. Upon your arrival at Arequipa airport our Guest Services Representative will be waiting in the arrivals area. After collecting your luggage walk through the doors and look for a sign with your name. You will be transferred to your hotel and given assistance with check in. Enjoy a private three-hour excursion that will take you 07

through the Colonial neighborhood of San Lazaro, the place where the city of Arequipa was founded on August 15, 1540. Drive through the Grau Bridge and Carmen Alto District. Visit the Virgen de la Candelaria church which dates back to the XVII Century and the Cayma district, famous for its local food restaurants or picanterías. Visit the La Recoleta Convent, a peaceful Franciscan convent, founded in 1648. Continue towards the Vallecito District, a traditional residential area and the Bolivar bridge. The excursion will end in town visiting the Colonial mansions Casa del Moral and Casa Tristan del Pozo. Overnight at Casa Andina Private Collection Arequipa in a Superior room (Authentic) or in a Suite (Upgraded) or at the Beausejour in a Standard (Simplified). AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED Day 04. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel at approximately 8.30hrs. On leaving Arequipa, and as altitude gradually increases, you will see the landscape and vegetation transforming from an arid scrubland covered by abundant cactus to the barren Puna highlands. You will drive through the National Reservation 08

of Salinas and Aguada Blanca where you will see herds of vicuñas grazing on the plains. Here you will have the best chance to get a closer view of these animals and a unique opportunity to take pictures. A bit further you will have the chance to see birds like flamingoes, ibis, andean gooze, ducks, andean eagle "Kara Kara" and the view point of the volcanoes and snow covered mountains in Patapampa (15,000 feet). See the Ampato, Sabancaya and Walca Walca mountains. Arrival to the town of Chivay and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Casitas del Colca in a Superior room (Authentic) or in a Deluxe room (Upgraded) or at the Colca Lodge in a Panoramic Suite (Simplified). AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED Day 05 After rising early and post breakfast, visit the "Condor Cross" lookout point, a unique place to observe condors from a close distance soaring above the depths of the canyon below. It stands at 3,000 feet above the river and 7,896 feet below the top of the cliff faces. Although condors are present throughout the Andes, at the Colca canyon the rising winds are strong and condors take advantage of these winds to soar gracefully into the sky. With this view, the white plumage of its wingspans and flanks can be fully appreciated. For many years, there was a raging controversy over whether or not the Colca canyon was the world s deepest canyon at about 10,470 09

feet, but it has recently drawn in as a close second to the neighbouring Cotahuasi Canyon, which is 535 feet deeper. Continue the excursion to visit the town of Cabanoconde and its corn fields. On your way back visit the picturesque towns of Pinchollo, Achoma and Yanque and the lookout at Antahuilque. Overnight at Casitas del Colca in a Superior room (Authentic) or in a Deluxe room (Upgraded) or at the Colca Lodge in a Panoramic Suite (Simplified). Day 06 Enjoy the trip along the right margin of the Colca canyon and visit the picturesque towns of Coporaque, Chinina, Uyu Uyu and Ichupampa. Stop for lunch at Chivay. At the appropriate hour, depart from Colca towards Lake Titicaca. The route is approximately 320 kilometers. En route you will see the beautiful Andean high landscapes, with fauna and flora of the zone. Also you will have the opportunity to appreciate some rock formations which resemble a stone forest. You will go through the towns of Pillones, Imata, and the highest point of 4538 meters. Continue to the beautiful zone of Lagunillas with its impressive natural lagoon, the town of Santa Lucia, Cabanillas, Juliaca, Puno, until you arrive at your hotel - Titilaka. The total 10

duration of the excursion is approximately 6 hours. We recommend you to have a siesta, take it easy and drink plenty of liquids in order to get used to the altitude. Enjoy tea time and sunset cocktails from the panoramic terraces overlooking the lake. Dinner is served in the main dining room. Then, you may luxuriate in your appointed suite or join other guests and interpreters to talk about your highlands experience. Overnight at your luxurious lake-view Dawn room (Authentic) or Corner room (Upgraded) or King room (Simplified) at Titilaka. AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED Day 11 After rising at the hour that suits you, enjoy breakfast in bed or in the lake-view dining room, with choices of a variety of fresh fruit, local cereals and products, or if you wish, join the morning excursion. Excursion to Taquile Island. (Alternatives available: Uros floating islands, Sillustani, Mountain biking to Inca Anatawi and Perka). Taquile is considered the most interesting island on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca, located in front of the Chucuito Peninsula. The Taquile people of Quechua origin, as opposed to the majority of region s locals who are of Aymara origin, live at 13,000 feet above sea level. You may get to know their way of life and experiences. As formerly part of the Inca 11

Empire, you may also see some archaeological remains in the island, such as stone quarters, doors, windows and pathways on the peak of its mountain, where you can also view the impressive panorama of Lake Titicaca and the snow covered mountains of Cordillera Real. Due to the thermal effect of the lake on the weather which provides more oxygen to the atmosphere and warmer temperatures, the island offers a favorable micro-climate for agriculture, producing crops which don t normally grow at these altitudes. As you walk around the island, you will see local men knitting outdoors, one of the finest knitted handicrafts in Peru. You will return to the hotel for lunch and siesta time. Excursion to Socca beach. (Alternatives available: Inca Anatawi, Rowing through the reeds, Bird watching and Titilaka arch). Travel east of the lodge-refuge, to visit the rustic town community of Socca, between wetlands and farms where you can appreciate the agricultural practices of the locals and know the customs. Enjoy the magnificent scenery around the highest navigable lake of the world; watch the idyllic sunset and the first stars coming out as night sets in. Upon your arrival to the hotel enjoy the intense sunset. Enjoy cocktails and dinner at the main restaurant. Overnight at your luxurious lake-view Dawn room (Authentic) or Corner room (Upgraded) or King room (Simplified) at Titilaka. 12

Day 08 After breakfast, you will be transferred to Juliaca airport where you will be assisted by our Guest Services Representative prior to your flight to Cusco. Upon your arrival at Cusco airport our Guest Services Representative will be waiting in the arrivals area. After collecting your luggage walk through the doors and look for a sign with your name. You will be transferred to your hotel and given assistance with check in. A box lunch shall be provided on route. Excursion to Pisac Ruins & Market (Alternatives available: Chinchero, Pisac Ruins, Pisac Market or Maras & Moray). Visit the Pisac mountaintop complex including overlooks, terraces and the main temple, located next to the town of Pisac. Pisac is known for its small, polished stones that fit perfectly together. In the main ruins, you will find temples of the sun, moon, rain, rainbow, and stars, as well as a few Incan crosses rising from the ground. Among the most important buildings in the area are Pisaca, which is a fine curved wall, the Intihuatana group of temples, and the military area, called Q Allaqasa. Exploring these ruins means walking a path, which snakes its way along the hillsides east of the Sacred Valley. Later visit the village of Pisac and its traditional market. The small main square is filled wall-to-wall with stalls selling the full range of Peruvian handicrafts: alpaca sweaters and mittens, carved gourds or mates burilados, ceramics, felt hats, musical instruments, paintings, antiques, a huge variety of trinkets, and, most of all, weavings and jewellery. Even if you do not make any purchase, the café balconies overlooking the square offer you great people-watching opportunities. Traditionally, people of the highlands come down to exchange their produce such as vegetables, weavings and pottery, for essentials such as salt, sugar and rice in a trade called trueque. You can also visit the church and a small interesting museum. 13

Overnight at Rio Sagrado Hotel in a Deluxe Terrace Room (Authentic) or in a Garden Junior Suite (Upgraded) or at Sol y Luna hotel in a Deluxe Casita (Simplified). AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED Day 09. Excursion to Chinchero, Maras & Moray (Alternatives available: Pisac Ruins, Pisac Market, Chinchero, Pisac Ruins & Market, Ollantaytambo, Maras & Moray or Pisac Market & Ollantaytambo). Experience a full-day private guided excursion throughout the Sacred Valley. First, visit Chinchero, a small Andean village, located high-up on the windswept plains of Anta (12,342.52 feet), about 30 kilometers from Cusco. You will find yourself surrounded by gorgeous views overlooking the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Cordillera Vilcabamba and the snow-capped peak of Salkantay dominating the western horizon. This is the location of the village of Chinchero. Chinchero means the birthplace of the rainbow in Quechua. This excursion combines Incan ruins with a typical Andean village, a colonial church, some wonderful mountain views, and a colorful traditional market. Continue through the sites of Maras and Moray. En route, witness some of the best sites in the valley. First, stop at the ancient salt mines, nearby the town of Maras, which can be seen from an old chapel just above. Then, visit the huge circular agricultural terraces 14

at Moray built by the Incas in natural sinkholes on a limestone plateau overlooking the Urubamba Valley. It has been suggested that they have a cosmological meaning; however, the Incas are thought to have used them as a kind of crop laboratory to determine the optimal conditions of each species. Lunch at El Parador de Moray restaurant: the house has a central courtyard where you can find entertainment options, 3 rooms, arranged perpendicularly around the courtyard with windows that make amazing postcards of mountains, plains of the valley and an esplanade with impeccable view to Moray. Overnight at Rio Sagrado Hotel in a Deluxe Terrace Room (Authentic) or in a Garden Junior Suite (Upgraded) or at Sol y Luna hotel in a Deluxe Casita (Simplified). Day 10. Our Guest Services Representative will pick you up from your hotel in the Sacred Valley and transport you to Ollantaytambo train station. Departure from Ollantaytambo train station to Machu Picchu by the Vistadome train service. The Vistadome trains have beautiful panoramic windows offering unsurpassed scenic views and photographic opportunities as you enter the Inca's territory in search for Machu Picchu Citadel. Surrounded by glass on all sides, 15

passengers feel as if they are part of Peru's remarkable landscape. Entertainment on board, snacks and hot and cold refreshments are included on the journey. Arrival in Aguas Calientes train station. Departure: TBD Arrival: TBD Machu Picchu Citadel Excursion (Options available: Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu, Mandor Waterfalls or Putukusi Mountain). A short walk from the Aguas Calientes train station; take a 30-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu Citadel. (8000 feet 2432 meters above sea level) Explore the enigmatic citadel of Machu Picchu accompanied with your guide for three hours. Your expert guide will lead you through the site, providing archaeological and historical information on key areas of interest, including Intihuatana (the Sun Dial), the Sacred Plaza and the Temple of the Sun. This is an opportunity to revel in the energy and atmosphere of one of the most significant and spectacular archaeological sites on the planet, surrounded by the cloud forest, Huayna Picchu and Inti Punku (the Sun Gate), the entrance to the Machu Picchu Inca trail. Upon completion of your excursion, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and check-in to your hotel - the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo. Evening at leisure to relax or enjoy some of the hotel s most charming attractions that include the reading room, the wall in the main dining room displaying scores of pre-columbian artifacts, the lounge s crackling fireplaces, and the Andean sauna, an igloo made from indigenous bamboo and fresh eucalyptus leaves, in the UNU Spa (Prices for services at the UNU Spa are available at the front desk of the Hotel). 16

Suggested Excursions: Bird-watching walk, nature trail, twilight walk, orchid tour, organic tea processing and evening nature shows. Dinner a la carte at the Main Restaurant. This restaurant has exceptional views of the Urubamba River and the surrounding green mountains. Overnight at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel in a Suite (Authentic) or at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge in Deluxe Mountain View (Upgraded) or at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel in a Superior Deluxe (Simplified). AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED Day 11. Huayna Picchu Excursion (Options available: Machu Picchu, Apu Machu Picchu, Mandor Waterfalls or Putukusi Mountain). Your experience will begin after a 30-minute bus ride to the citadel of Machu Picchu. (8000 feet 2432 meters above sea level) 17

Once there, climb the mystical Huayna Picchu in order to see the ruins from this wonderful vantage point. There are 2 entrance opportunities dependent on availability; 7.00am or 10.00am. We will select the 7.00am entrance time unless otherwise requested. This hike lasts approximately 2 hours at a slow pace. Later, continue to explore Machu Picchu and take in the beautiful combination of man-made ruins surrounded by nature s lush green mountains. Arrival at Ollantaytambo train station. Departure: TBD Arrival: TBD After the excursion, enjoy lunch at Tinkuy Restaurant at the Sanctuary Lodge and afterwards take some leisure time before returning by bus to Aguas Calientes. Departure from Aguas Calientes train station to Ollantaytambo by the Vistadome train service. Our Guest Services Representative will meet you at Ollantaytambo Train Station and transport you to your hotel in Cusco (approximately 90 minutes). You will receive assistance during your check-in at your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Monasterio in a Deluxe room (Authentic) or at Hotel Palacio Nazarenas in a Deluxe Suite (Upgraded) or at Inkaterra La Casona Hotel in a Suite Patio (Simplified). AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED 18

Day 12. Excursion of Cusco City and San Blas Neighborhood. (Options available: Visit to the Four Ruins, excursion of Cusco City & Four Ruins or Excursion of Cusco City & Sacsayhuaman.) Enjoy the beauty and attractiveness of the San Blas neighborhood, one of the most picturesque communities in Cusco. It is characterized by its narrow and steep streets that zigzag amongst old colonial houses constructed with walls of Incan stone. Music of the Andes Enter the magical world of Andean melodies with an expert on the subject and learn about the music of the Andes. You will be given an explanation of the origin of Andean instruments, their characteristics, tradition and influence in regional culture, including a demonstration of the techniques. At the end of the class, you can play some simple songs with various indigenous instruments like the flute, dulcimer, among others. Let the music take the stage and live a different experience. Duration: Approximately 1 hour Explore the city of Cusco with its Inca walls, colorful costumes and historical streets with your private guide. Stroll around the main square or Plaza de Armas. Framed by the Andes and lined by arcades and carved wooden balconies, it is the main attraction and focal point of Cusco. This is the perfect spot to film or to take pictures of the wonderful architectural delights flanking the square. 19

Overnight at Hotel Monasterio in a Deluxe room (Authentic) or at Hotel Palacio Nazarenas in a Deluxe Suite (Upgraded) or at Inkaterra La Casona Hotel in a Suite Patio (Simplified). AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED Day 13. For your departure, our Guest Services Representative will pick you up from your hotel and transport you to Cusco Airport. You will receive assistance with your departure flight. Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, you will be greeted by the hotel staff. Puerto Maldonado is the gateway to one of the most remote and extraordinary rainforests in the world. Your journey will take you into the heart of Tambopata National Park, in the Amazon basin, where you will experience the magnificent beauty... the sounds... the scents... the colors and the solitude of the rainforest. You will find yourself surrounded by a vast natural environment, in a way that many have never experienced before. You will be transferred to the Butterfly House located near the airport -a welcome/information center for travelers. This restful place includes a coffee shop, waiting room, restrooms with showers, baggage storage, Internet and a souvenir store. Proceed with check-in. You will be transferred to the boarding wharf. Begin to experience the enchantment of the rainforest, as you take a 45-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to arrive at Reserva Amazonica lodge. After a short briefing, settle into your beautiful cabaña and enjoy your lunch in the dining room. Take a siesta, share a refreshing tea and get ready for your afternoon excursion. 20

After gathering with your interpreter, choose from the different excursions available at Reserva Amazonica Lodge. On your first day, we recommend a guided walk along the Trail System, within the lodge s natural area, where you will discover the Amazon Basin. This trail offers an excellent introduction to the forest environment winding past impressive trees such as the Shihuahuaco, and the beautiful strangler fig, offering excellent opportunities for bird watching and observing exotic insects. (Alternatives available: Native farm, Canopy and Anaconda Walk, and Ese'Eja Experience.) We also recommend on the first night our Twilight River excursion - a guided afternoon boat ride on the Madre de Dios River from the Inkaterra lodge. Witness the transformation from a diurnal to a nocturnal world: animals and birds of the daytime give way to species specially adapted to the night. As you enjoy their paradise, you will learn about their habits, while you search for nightjars, owls, capybaras and up to three different caiman species. Later, gather at the Eco Centre where the staff will make presentations of the excursions for the next day. Enjoy dinner served in the main dining room from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. After dinner, you may retire early to your own cabana, or share your experience of life in the rainforest with other guests and interpreters, as you listen to the intriguing sounds of the jungle at night. Overnight at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica in a Superior Rio (Authentic) or in a Suite (Upgraded) or at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción- Cabaña (Simplified). AUTHENTIC UPGRADED SIMPLIFIED 21

Day 14 Rest in bed or rise early the choice is yours. Breakfast begins at 5.30 am, for those who want to avoid the heat and enjoy nature at its fullest. A full buffet breakfast is served from 7.00am to 9.30 am. This morning you may set out on the Lake Sandoval excursion into the Tambopata National Reserve. Glide in a wooden canoe, across a beautiful, mirror-like oxbow lake that is home to the endangered giant river otter, as well as red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, side-neck turtles and black caimans. Return to the Inkaterra lodge for lunch. After lunch, consider visiting the remarkable Inkaterra Canopy Walkway. Ascending the first tower, 29 meters above the forest ground, you begin your encounter with the treetop realm. For more than a quarter of a mile, you will literally walk through the rainforest canopy on a suspension bridge network linking eight observation platforms. During this hour-and-a-half expedition, be on the lookout for bright toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys and the three-toed sloth. If you wish you may extend your excursion and appreciate the sunset from one of the towers. The excursion finishes by returning to the lodge. Once at the lodge, enjoy the daily nature presentation in the Ecomedia Center and Happy Hour. Dinner starts at 7.30pm. Overnight at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica in a Superior Rio (Authentic) or in a Suite (Upgraded) or at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción- Cabaña (Simplified). Day 15 Breakfast at the lodge. Hotel transfer by boat to Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Lima. (Approximate time of travel: 1 hour). 22
