O top of that, they discovered there was also a substatial gas leak to deal with. The first arrivig compay had a active LP gas leak from a LP gas vaporizer, which was fed by three 1,000 gallo above groud taks, Dexter reported. SECTION B TE WINNISQUAM ECO NewampshireLakesAdMoutais.com TURSDAY September 11, 2014 Loaded Bears aim for retur to postseaso BY JEFF LAJOIE jlajoie@salmopress.com TILTON The sigs are there for a successful seaso o Route 132. Despite losig some key pieces o the offesive lie icludig Shrie Game selectio Dakota VaTassel, who became the secod player i program history to be selected for the aual evet (Austi ut, 2013) the Wiisquam Regioal igh School football team has lofty expectatios this fall. The Bears will look to improve upo last year's 4-4 seaso that saw them lose out o a tiebreaker to get ito the North Coferece champioship game. I'm hopig we ca climb back up to the playoffs, offered Wiisquam head coach Pat Riberdy, who eters his seveth seaso at the helm with a 33-25 career record. I thik this team is very hugry. This group of kids, they're a fu group, they're focused they're buyig ito what we're tellig them. You ca't just show up ad wi though. The kids that are older uderstad ow after last year's kid of heartbreaker ot to make the playoffs, they do't wat to sit at home agai ad wait scores for come i to decide whether we're playig ext week. The ladscape aroud the Bears has chaged sigificatly this seaso, as Wiisquam has moved to the Divisio III South Coferece, with the divisio goig from four cofereces to two, eight-team oes. That meas the regular seaso schedule will feature plety of ew teams. Wiisquam's oe crossover game with the North is agaist Iter-Lakes/ Moultoborough (Sept. 20), but the yearly rivalry cotest with Frakli was oe casualty of the realigmet. That's oe of the biggest drawbacks is we do't have the Frakli game, admitted Riberdy. It's just oe of those thigs where they decided to split the teams Adrew Serrao ad the Wiisquam football team will look to make a retur to the postseaso this fall after returig a strog core from last year's squad. The Bears ope the seaso o Saturday at home agaist Raymod (1:30 p.m.). ito two cofereces. Oe team was goig to have to make a move ad because of our locatio, they figured it was the easiest thig to do. I'm alright with it though. I thik it's kid of excitig to play some ew teams. The South Coferece will feature games agaist Raymod (Sept. 13), Farmigto-Nute (Sept. 26), Campbell (Oct. 4), Somersworth (Oct. 11), Eppig-Newmarket (Oct. 18), Bow (Oct. 25) ad Bishop Brady (Oct. 31). Raymod, Farmigto-Nute, Somersworth ad Bow will be played at the Route 132 Field i Tilto. O the offesive side of the ball, the Bears retur some very taleted skill positio players. That uit is led by the ruig back tadem of Christia ad Adrew Serrao, who retur after strog seasos the past few years. Riberdy kows that his speedy backs will be keyed i o by opposig defeses however. We've kid of adapted our offese a bit, we Seior Greg ut ad the Bears will see plety of ew teams o the schedule this fall, as Wiisquam was realiged to the South Coferece i Divisio III. kow that's goig to happe, explaied Riberdy of defesive game plas focusig o the brothers Serrao. We're lookig to spread the field a bit more with them, get them ruig outside more. Wiisquam will likely take to the air a bit more as a result, ad seior icumbet Greg ut ad juior Charlie Taylor will vie for the startig quarterback job. Tim armo ad Matt Mcugh both retur as dagerous pass catchig weapos, while seior Cody Rubel has gotte a lot of looks at slot back for the Bears. Jake Sow ad Dom Lamauzzi will also be i the tailback mix. We did some good thigs last year throwig the ball ad I thik you'll see more of that out of us this year, offered Riberdy. A kid like Timmy armo is about 6-foot- 4 ow ad he has great hads. Matty has fatastic hads ad is very athletic. e caught a touchdow i our jamboree up at Iter-Lakes. While the Bears took some tough losses alog the offesive lie with the graduatio of Va- Tassel, Pat Boyle ad Jacob Gove, there are still some vetera big boys to block for the speedy tailbacks up frot. Juior Michael Lewis returs at ceter, as does All-Coferece performer Richie Mills. Billy Chavaelle ad Richie Scacheri are also experieced, while Christia Duquette ad Tyler Mora will certaily be i the mix. O the defesive side of the ball, Mills will achor a liebackig core that is loaded with talet. Adrew Serrao will be right ext to him as a iside backer while Mcugh will joi them o the outside. We're very athletic o that side of the ball ad I thik very few teams ca match our overall speed, said Riberdy. The defesive backfield has plety of talet, with Christia Serrao, ut, armo, Joey Correia, Loga Patte ad Cody Ross all pushig for playig time i a deep positio. The defesive lie will feature both Tyler ad Trevor Mora. Riberdy hopes that cosistecy ca become a part of the Wiisquam repertoire this fall, as a commo problem i the past few years has bee keepig mometum goig after big games. That's bee our thig the last couple of years, we'd have some lulls every other week it seemed like, admitted Riberdy. We have't bee to the playoffs sice 2010 ad we're lookig to be able to get back there with cosistet play week i ad week out. That march towards a potetial postseaso berth kicks off o Saturday, whe the Bears welcome Raymod to Route 132 Field for a 1:30 p.m. cotest to ope the regular seaso. The Wiisquam Regioal igh School field hockey coach got goals from a sophomore ad a freshma, as the Bears opeed the 2014 seaso with a 2-0 victory over Lakes Regio rival Gilford igh School i Divisio III actio. It was defiitely a rough preseaso, said Sow, who eters her fourth seaso as head coach. We had a lot of kids go dow; we're just startig to get a few back. It was a good first test for us. I kow (Gilford) lost a lot of seiors from last year but Dave (Rogacki) has had good teams. I kew what we were capable of but I was't sure what to expect from (Gilford). The opeig loss for the Eagles was their first regular seaso defeat sice the 2012 seaso. Gilford wet udefeated last year before fallig i the D-III semifials. That ru icluded a quarterfial wi over Wiisquam. We're oly goig to get better oce the girls lear how to play together, explaied Rogacki, who lost ie seiors to graduatio after reachig the Fial Four. There were times we defiitely outplayed (Wiisquam) but they fiished their opportuities ad we did't. Sophomore Cora Kelley got the scorig started for the Bears just 7:33 ito the first half. Kelley was posted up o the post, ad a scramble i the box evetually foud its way oto her stick. She backhaded a shot past chargig Gilford goalkeeper Johaa Mier, fiishig far post for a quick 1-0 advatage. That first goal relaxed everyoe a bit, said Sow of the early lead. We were a little shaky the first few miutes so it was a boost to have that goal early o. Both teams had chaces to score durig the rest of a wide-ope first half, with Gilford puttig several dagerous balls ito the box. But the Eagles struggled i the fiishig third of the field, either puttig shots wide or havig them cleared from dager i frot of Wiisquam freshma keeper Riley Toupi (four saves). If we complete our chaces the we're a successful team, said Rogacki. We did't complete them today. Nobody was there for the reboud o secod attempts. While the Eagles had a pair of early chaces i the secod half whe Maddie Laflamme ad Laura Zakorchemy put shots o frame, it was the Bears that pumped i the ext tally to double their advatage.
