This event is scheduled for September 2-24, 2017 at Flaming Arrow Scout Reservation located at 1201 Boy Scout Road, Lake Wales, Florida. Check in will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, with check out by 10:30 am on Sunday. Check In Process An event staff member will be at the parking lot to check in. Site assignments will be confirmed at check-in. Units MAY be sharing sites, so be courteous and keep your unit together in camp. One vehicle for each unit will be allowed back in camp for unloading of gear. Troop trailers will be allowed to be parked at the entrance to each site. No vehicles will be allowed to remain in camp and must return to the parking lot once unloaded. Remember, speed limit in camp is 10 miles/hr and hazards must be on while driving. Scouts/Adults are NOT permitted to ride in truck beds. Check Out Process A continental breakfast will be available for pickup in Wood Hall from 7:15 am to 8:00 am. A box will be made available to take the meal back to camp. Please send at least 2 youth to collect breakfast. Only one vehicle per unit will be allowed back at the site for loading of gear. To reduce the amount of vehicles in camp, please load one vehicle with the units gear and disperse it to the remaining campers in the parking lot. No unit is permitted to leave camp until either the Camp Master or Camp Director have cleared the site. A site close out check list is in the back of this guide, and will also be provided with breakfast on Sunday. First Aid The First Aid station for this weekend will be in Wood Hall. Medic contact information will be passed out at the Friday night Cracker Barrel. The local hospital is Lake Wales Medical Center. Be Prepared As we are sharing the camp facility with another event, some site pavilions may be used to teach merit badge courses. Units will be notified at check-in. Please be courteous and leave one or two tables clear for these courses. Scouts Own Service A Scouts Own service will be performed on Sunday morning at 8:30 am at the chapel. Class A/Field Uniforms please. Dining YES This weekend includes food, so you don t have to plan on cooking. All meals, with the exception of Sunday breakfast, will be served in Wood Hall. Patches All participants will receive an event patch. Patches will be issued at the December Roundtable.
Early Bird/On-time registration due by September 7, 2017. Registration will be done through Double Knot at: http://tampabayscouting.doubleknot.com/event/merit-badge-academy-webeloswoods/2115075 During online registration, the Early Bird discount will be applied at checkout. Please make sure when adding each scout individually to complete the information form which will cover food allergies and special needs. Campsite requests should be sent to smtroop561@gmail.com. Requests will be honored on a first come first serve bases. Units WILL be sharing sites. Site assignments will be e-mailed to the unit leader the week of camp. Campsites available are: Arapaho, Backfoot, Beard, Cheyene, Seaton, Baden Powell, and West. New Webelos joining as part of Fall roundup will receive the Early Bird discount. We are changing things up this year for our Webelos and AOL Scouts! Scouts will be assigned to an AM course schedule THEN just like the Boy Scouts will be able to select which course they want for their PM class! Courses will be filled on a first come first serve basis, but not confirmed until unit payment is made. AM courses will occur from 8:30-Noon, with PM courses from 1:30-5:00. Full Day courses will be from 8:30-5:00, with lunch from 12:15 to 1:15. Full day courses MAY end early. Games and activities will be available at the basketball court.
