Mackinac locals and visitors can explore the world of Mackinac lilacs through events like afternoon tea at the Grand Hotel, a 10K Lilac Festival road race, ice cream socials, hayrides, walking tours, wine and beer tastings, and line dancing at the Dancing in the Streets event. Traverse City s National Cherry Festival is set for July 7-14. The annual eight-day festival celebrates everything cherry. Known as America s Cherry Capital, Traverse City throws a giant bash with parades, activities, food, beverages and performances each year, dedicated to cherries. Activities include a two-person beach volleyball tournament, a cherry pit-spitting contest, a classic car show, cherry pie eating contests and an arts & crafts fair for kids.
