Designed for youth ages 6-15, our camp serves families from all over the world. In addition to our traditional sleepaway camp programs we also offer Gymnastics, Volleyball, Judo, Musical Theater, and Soccer camps. There are also great leadership development programs for teens. Our goal is to meet your child s developmental needs and provide a foundation for continued learning during the summer months. Alongside sports, swimming and arts programs, the YMCA offers academic enrichment that is infused throughout the camp day. These programs include summer reading, journal writing and science activities. Please note that camp will not operate on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Discounts cannot be combined and are available only on the cost of camps per session, not on extended day or transportation fees. Camp Gear Each camper will receive two t-shirts and a camp bag. Swim caps will be provided on the camper s first day of swim. Camp t-shirts must be worn every day. Additional shirts can be purchased for $10 each or three for $25. Swimmers must have a towel, swimsuit, change of clothing, water shoes and a plastic bag for wet swim gear. Parent/ Guardian Orientation Attendance at one Parent/Guardian orientation meeting is mandatory. OUR CAMP OPTIONS Kindercamp AGES 4-5 (Participants must be entering kindergarten ) Kindercamp is designed for children entering kindergarten in September 2017. Structured day camp activities support the transition to kindergarten by building social and emotional skills in a fun and nurturing environment. We focus on classroom structure, transitional activities and group play. Kindercampers will participate in instructional swimming (only branch campers swim), indoor and outdoor physical fitness, interactive science, literacy activities, theme-based arts and crafts and local outings. Location (Campers Swim) Member: $737 Location Member: $737 Community: $770 Community: $759 YMCA Traditional Day Camp AGES 5-11 (Participants must have completed kindergarten) Campers engage in activities that enhance their social and emotional skills, keep them physically active, challenge them academically, and inspire them to learn new things every day with lifelong friends in New York City. They participate in various sports, arts and crafts, and weekly themed days such as Super Hero Day, and learn about science, technology, engineering, and math during each session. To mitigate summer learning loss, the YMCA helps children retain and expand the academic skills they develop during the school year by offering interactive programs such as Book of the Week, journaling, science experiments, and math lessons. CAMP OPTIONS CONTINUED Teen Camp AGES 12-14 Teen Camp experience instills the values of accountability and teamwork in addition to the YMCA s core values of honesty, respect, caring and responsibility. Teen campers participate in hands-on programming geared towards building self-confidence as well as activities designed to engage teens in developing educational and career goals. Field trips are purposeful in connecting teen campers to real-world experiences with technology, art and character development through team-building. Campers also participate in dancing, singing, sports and more! & Commuter Location Member: $588 Community: $621 Leadership Camp AGES 15-17 This is not a traditional day camp. Our Leadership Camp is built on grooming tomorrow s leaders. Teens gain job readiness skills by working alongside experienced staff. Leaders receive training in program safety and working with youth. This camp is great for teens looking for work experience and/or community service. Location Member: $588 Community: $621 Basketball Camp AGES 9-11 The game of basketball was created in 1891 at a YMCA by Dr. James Naismith. Spend the summer immersed in the sport that the Y helped to create. Learn all aspects of basketball through skill building activities, full court games, and activities focused on teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers will also participate in traditional camp activities. Location Member: $654 Community: $693 Dance Camp AGES 6-8 Swim Camp AGES 5-11 (Participants must have completed kindergarten) Our Swim Camp helps children and teens develop important swimming skills and a lifetime love of the water, while instilling values around water safety and responsibility. Swim Camp is divided into three age groups: 5-6, 7-8 and 9-11. The key components of Swim Camp are:» Swimmers are given an opportunity to build swimming skills.» Stroke development and training are tailored by age and skill level.» Swim campers participate in core traditional camp activities.» Activities and interactions emphasize building self-esteem and self-confidence. In addition, campers will explore the values of teamwork, good sportsmanship and strong work ethics. CAMP OPTIONS Traditional Sleepaway Camp Join us for an unforgettable summer! Our traditional Summer Sleepaway Camp offers three exciting opportunities for campers ages 7 16. Camp McAlister (ages 7 10) is a fun, safe and nurturing introduction to the wonderful world of sleepaway camp. Camp Talcott (ages 11 14) features a wide range of exciting and challenging activities for slightly older campers. Our Counselor in Training (CIT) program (age 16) gives motivated teens the opportunity to develop leadership skills while having fun in the great outdoors. Across programs, campers from our branch and all over the world, enjoy a wide range of traditional camp activities including swimming, canoeing, sports, archery, arts & crafts, nature and outdoor skills, and fun on our floating, inflatable obstacle course! Optional additional activities include horseback riding, water skiing, and white water rafting. Combine any two consecutive sessions for a three week option by adding a stayover weekend camp.
