Board of Directors Meetings April 14 Special Member Meeting April 28 Sip n Snack April 12 Individual Highlights: Proposed New Paint Scheme 2 Things You Should 3 Know From the Manager s Desk Spring has finally arrived Along with the warm weather we will be saying goodbye to many of our seasonal residents. The many construction projects that have been the subject of discussions for many months are about to begin. The first project is the continuation of balcony restoration project that began last spring with the 01 units. This year, starting on April 5 th, we will be working on the remaining units in the building. This project will include screen and railing replacements as well as concrete restoration and a repainting of the building exterior. The Board has approved a change in color and along with the addition of a second accent color added to some areas of the exterior of the building. Our documents require an owner vote that requires 2/3 of those voting to approve these changes. A proxy will be mailed to you next week to vote on a change in color and paint scheme to the building along with the architect s renderings of the proposed changes and color samples. Please return your proxy as soon as possible even if you plan on attending the meeting. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 28 th at 9:30 AM in the social room. The second project will be the fire alarm panel and sprinkler retrofit in all the common areas that will include one sprinkler head in each residential unit as well speakers in all bedrooms. In addition, we will be installing sprinklers throughout the garage. Please ensure that the office has a key to your car if you plan on leaving it in the garage during the summer months. Along with that project we will be opening up each residential hallway and creating coffers in the ceilings and installing crown moldings and new lighting behind the molding and over each unit door. It will be a very busy for the next six months. I will be sending out weekly updates by e-mail to all the owners as well as posting a copy in the mailroom outlining construction progress. Most of you know that we have been working with a local vendor for a voluntary replacement of bedroom windows for any owners that did not upgrade them the last time. The contractor is about to submit his order and there is a quantity discount involved. If you have been thinking about it and haven t made a final decision you have a few more days to opt into this program. If you need more information contact the management office.
Things you should know New Owners of 402.. We would like to welcome our new Owners to The Stratford. Sherrye and Dr. Jerry Lenington are our new neighbors in unit 402, moving from Van Buren, Arkansas. They met a lot of you at the Wine Tasting and Italian Dinner night on March 15 th. Jerry and Sherrye have 4 children and eight grandchildren and one adopted grandson who was displaced from his family following Katrina. Jerry practiced Anesthesiology for 20 years and Pain Management for 15 years. Sherrye taught 5 th and 6 th grade English and Science. They have been visiting Naples for 4 years and decided to move here after visiting the area with its beautiful beaches, restaurants and friendly people. Who could ask for more? Contact Information Make sure to contact the Stratford office with any changes to your address, phone number and email address. Also, don t forget to contact the office if you are returning or leaving so any mailings will be delivered to the correct address, and we can turn the water, etc. off when you leave and turned back on when you return. Turtle Season The beaches of southwest Florida have long been an important nesting area for the loggerhead sea turtle. The sea turtles emerge from the Gulf of Mexico to nest on our beaches each summer from May 1 to August 1. Females crawl from the Gulf late at night to lay their nests. The eggs will hatch after 60 days. Beachfront lights mush be turned off throughout the night from May to October, as they can confuse the sea turtles during the mating season. Suggested alternatives to decrease artificial lighting include the use of motion sensors for safety, dark window tinting, curtains to cover inside light and yellow incandescent light bulbs. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to witness the hatchlings leave their nest and head to the gulf! Hurricane Preparedness Hurricane season starts June 1 st. You may pick up an updated Emergency Plan guide in the management office or mail room. This will provide you with emergency phone numbers, radio stations, check list, after the storm information, etc. Memorial Day. Office Closed The office will be closed on Memorial, Monday, May 31 st and will be open during regular hours on Tuesday, June 1 st. Phone Entry When you have visitors at the front entry phone please press 6 on your phone to allow them access into the building. Open House We had our first Open House on Sunday, March 28 th. You may obtain a form and realtor rules from the office to have an Open House. You must return the completed form to the office 5 days in advance of the Open House, which can only be on a Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
