SOLVING A MURDER MYSTERY For Investigating Team 1: Murder mystery 1: A millionaire was found dead by his desk. He might have drunk a glass of poisonous wine. There was a letter by his side and his right hand was still holding the pen, which was believed to be the one he used to write the letter. After investigations, the police said that the millionaire had not killed himself. He was murdered. Why was the police so sure about that? In a millionaire s house. Not mentioned. The millionaire. He died after drinking a glass of poisonous wine. A glass of poisonous wine, a letter by the side of the millionaire, a pen in the millionaire s right hand. Why was the police so sure that the victim was murdered? After investigations, the police found that the man was left-handed and would not write with his right hand. So they were sure that the man was murdered.

SOLVING A MURDER MYSTERY For Investigating Team 2: Murder mystery 2: The police found a dead body of a woman in a house. There was a letter next to the dead body. The letter was written with water-proof (oil-soluble) ink. The police believed that it was written by the woman, who said, in the letter, that she shot herself with a gun because she owed people a lot of money. The letter was dated 3 days ago. The police searched the house carefully and they found a water-proof pen near the body. The pen had no cover. The policemen tried to use the pen to write something and they soon concluded that the woman was murdered. Someone had moved her body to the house after killing her. How did the police find out the truth? In a woman s house. Not mentioned. A woman. She was shot by a gun. _ A letter next to the dead body dated 3 days ago, a water-proof pen with no cover near the body, How did the police find out the truth? If a water-proof pen is left uncovered for three days, all the ink will vaporize and the pen cannot write anymore. Since the police could still use the pen to write, this proves that the pen was put near the body not long ago.

For Investigating Team 3: Murder mystery 3: Johnny was found dead in a garage. He was shot by a gun and had a very deep wound on his chest. However, after the doctor examined his body, no bullets were found. The police believed that the murderer had used some special bullets to kill Johnny. Can you guess what kind of bullet was used? A garage. Johnny. He was shot by a gun. A very deep wound on Johnny s chest, a gun. What kind of bullets did the murderer use? The murderer used some water (or blood of the same blood-type as Johnny s), froze the liquid and moulded it into the shape of a bullet and shot Johnny with the special bullet.

The owner of the public bathroom said she could take a bath but she had to be fast. The woman thanked the owner and went into the bathroom and shut the door. After an hour, the woman still didn t come out. The owner saw some blood coming out of the bathroom door so he called the police. When the police arrived, they opened the door and found the dead body of the woman on the floor. She was stabbed on the chest by something sharp before she could take a bath. The owner said that no one had walked near to the bathroom. There was no sign of attackers coming in through the windows. The whole bathroom was dry and clean but there was some cold water on the woman s right palm. The police inspector said that the woman killed herself. Do you know how she did it? A public bathroom. On a chilly winter night. A young woman. She was stabbed on the chest by something sharp. Some blood, a dry and clean bathroom, some cold water on the woman s right palm. Who was the murderer? The young woman killed herself. How was the victim killed? The woman used a knife made of ice to stab herself. The ice melted into the cold water on her palm.

The restaurant was located on a hill. Although it was freezing outside, it was very warm inside the restaurant. Inspector Jordan found a dead body sitting by a table. The dead man was shot by a gun on the forehead. Inspector Jordan asked the restaurant owner about the case. The owner said he saw a strange man wearing glasses running into the restaurant and he shot the man with a gun. The strange man left immediately after killing the person. Everything happened so fast so the owner could hardly remember exactly how the strange man looked like. Inspector Jordan knew straight away that the restaurant owner was lying. Why? In a restaurant on a hill. On a cold, snowy night. A man at the restaurant. He was shot by a gun on the forehead. Who was/ were the witness(es)? The restaurant owner. Who was/ were the suspect(s)?
