Snowmobile safaris Rates include the necessary equipment (thermo-overall, mittens, socks, boots, hat, helmet) and insurance for the snowmobile. Please notice that the driver of the snowmobile is held liable for damages caused to the vehicle and the self-risk amount is max. 600 / driver / snowmobile / accident case. The driver of the snowmobile must be at least 15 years of age with a valid driving licence (for vehicles with at least 125 cc). For children under 15 years we recommend only 2 4 hour snowmobile safaris. Children sit in a sled behind guides snowmobile. The snowmobiles we use on our safaris are with min 550 cc. Husky safaris ll husky safari rates include the necessary equipment (thermo-overall, mittens, socks, boots, hat). Children over 12 years can usually drive a husky team themselves but this depends completely on the size of the child. We keep the right to decide the arrangements for children here in Torassieppi according to the weather conditions and size of the child. Children between 5 12 years of age sit in the guide s sled during safaris. We recommend only short husky safaris for small children.
REINDEER PROGRMMES 1. Local culture Learn about the culture of the original Lappish reindeer herders in one of the oldest reindeer farms in Finland and participate on a reindeer safari guided by a Lappish reindeer herder! Original Torassieppi farm house dates back to 1847 and it has been preserved in its original form with all the old household items. During the visit of the farm house you will hear of the fascinating history of the family who has lived in the farm until the recent years. We will then visit the rustic little museum on the yard and learn about the reindeer herding in Lapland both with the old reindeer herding tools and with an informative power point presentation. The reindeer are already waiting in the fence for you to hop on to the traditional sled and go for a reindeer safari in the forest. The reindeer herder will lead the way in the first sled. Lunch is served in a traditional Lappish kota building around an open fire. fter the reindeer experience you will have a chance to also see the impressive Winter Village snow hotel right next to the farm. Guided tour to the Winter Village. We do not recommend this tour for children under 5 years old due to the long reindeer safari. Our local reindeer herder will take you on an exciting sled ride in the nightly lake, covered under the warm blankets in a reindeer sled. Length of the safari is approximately 3km. Ski like a Finn!(based in Jeris) Cross country skiing is something that us Finns learn before we learn to speak. This short course to the secrets of the Finnish national sport gives you the basic skills for skiing. OTHER FUN 10. Snowshoe trip to National Park Our guide will take us on a minibus for a short transfer to Pallas fell area. This is the biggest fell area in West- Lapland and well known for its breath taking sceneries. It is time to take our snowshoes out and hike higher to catch the most beautiful views. Duration of the trip is approx 4 hours and we will enjoy a picnic snack by fire.
