3 of 8 CHAPTER 8: 8.1 INTRODUCTION Compagnie Africaine d'aviation (CAA) has subscribed to the JEPPESEN Airways Manuals which are periodically updated using information from official sources (AIPs and NOTAMs). Compagnie Africaine d'aviation (CAA) reprints the current information at regular intervals to keep onboard library up to date. All flights of Compagnie Africaine d Aviation (CAA), shall be conducted under IFR Flight Plan. Regardless of weather conditions, all flights of Compagnie Africaine d Aviation (CAA) should normally be conducted in accordance with an IFR flight plan. As a general rule, the IFR flight plan shall not be cancelled.
4 of 8 8.2 ENROUTE NAVIGATION CHARTS One copy of the applicable JEPPESEN Enroute chart in the Enroute section is carried in each aircraft library. These charts are either in the Enroute Low Altitude, the Enroute High Altitude, or combined High/Low Altitude series. The charts illustrate the airways structure, the radio navigation aids, ATC reporting points, restricted airspace, and communications frequencies. In addition, large sale charts are provided for areas of intense information such as the Johannesburg terminal area. Specifications for JEPPESEN Navigation Charts can be found in the JEPPESEN Airways Manual in the Terminal section. The JEPPESEN Enroute charts also show the Minimum Safe Altitude within areas of whole degrees latitude and longitude. These MSA s are derived from a variety of sources including Government and Regulatory Authorities (AIP s). Specifications for JEPPESEN Minimum Safe Altitudes can be found in the JEPPESEN Airway Manual in the Terminal section.
5 of 8 8.3 JEPPESEN INSTRUMENT APPROACH PROCEDURE The instrument approach charts provided in the JEPPESEN Airway Manual Terminal Section offer limited topographical information and sector safe altitudes. The vertical limits of controlled airspace is not normally shown on these charts and reference must be made to those maps described in Section 8.2.
6 of 8 8. 4 AMENDMENTS 8. 4.1 General The JEPPESEN Airway Manual maps, charts and documents are received by the Corporate Documentation System and forwarded to the Flight Operations Support Office to update the current document. The Flight Dispatch on duty has the responsibility to ensure that the current in aircraft library. 8.4.1.1 Notams The Notam s Section in the JEPPESEN and ''Régie des Voies Aériennes (RVA)'' includes all temporary amendments and revision. Pilots shall check the Notam before every flight. 8.4.2 Distribution JEPPESEN is contracted to provide a document amendment service and distribution service to the Corporate Documentation System with Flight Operations Department on a 2 weekly/biweekly basis. The JEPPESEN Airways Manuals are exchanged according to coverage of manual and flight schedule. 8.4.3 Amendment Action Each issue is numbered, and it is the responsibility of the each pilot to check that the amendments have been actioned in their aircraft.
7 of 8 8. 5 AIRCRAFT SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTS PACK The Pack of essential documents is carried in each aircraft library to cover unscheduled flights. This pack includes: Operation Flight Plan, plus a blank Copy, Weight and Balance Charts; blank Captain's Report Forms and other forms required by the Compagnie Africaine d'aviation (CAA).
