Summary of 10-Year Revenue Trends January was a positive month for Nevada gaming as a whole. Statewide, casino win grew by 11.99% due to two factors: higher slot hold and more baccarat play. Slot win increased by 9.53%, thanks to an increase in slot hold percentage, as handle fell by 1.31%. The statewide total of 7.48% slot hold was a historic record. Game win grew by 16.12% thanks to much stronger baccarat numbers (see below). Las Vegas Strip casinos saw a 14.40% increase in total win, with a 6.10% growth in slot win despite flat play volume thanks to higher hold. For games, baccarat posted a strong gain, with a 52.52% increase in revenue and a 44.32% growth in handle. This helped to power games overall to a 22.24% increase. Downtown Las Vegas posted a 32.03% increase in win. Slot revenue grew by 32.92%, with hold percentage rising a whopping 30.61% to 8.79%, offsetting December s abnormally low hold. Game win was up 29.87% thanks to growth in bold hold and handle. On the Boulder Strip, a 24.52% increase in total win was caused by a 36.98% jump in slot win. Slot handle actually fell, though, as the gain was due entirely to a higher hold. Game revenue fell by 41.32% due to a 30.80% drop in hold percentage and a 15.20% drop in handle. Washoe County posted an overall decline, unlike the southern jurisdictions, likely because the accounting quirks that skewed hold negatively in December and positively in January were avoided. Overall win fell by 7.04%, with slots down 3.19% and games down 21.59% Note: Game win figures are inflated for 2016 and 2017 since they now include poker (did not previously). Tables for Statewide, Las Vegas Strip, Downtown Las Vegas, Boulder Strip, and Washoe County follow.
