SURFACE TEMPERATURE Hot surfaces can cause ignition. It is necessary to ensure that the surface temperature of the equipment does not exceed the ignition temperature of the gas. For group II equipment the following maximum surface temperatures apply based on the ambient temperature of 40 Deg. C. As with different gas groups the higher "t" rating can be used if a lower "T" rating is called up, i.e. a T5 rating can be used for T4, T3, T2 or T1 requirement. T1 450 Deg. C. T4 135 Deg. C.
