Our goal is to provide skilled leaders who are not only well trained, but who are positive role models for your child. Camp staff is selected for their experience working with children, their swim knowledge/experience and their desire to assist children. Camp staff is subjected to a rigorous background check including fingerprinting and reference check. In addition, staff undergo a comprehensive and intensive staff training which includes lifeguard, first aid and CPR, AED, behavior management, and safety and supervision prior to beginning work at camp. Furthermore, our staff is trained to work in the childcare field. Discipline Policy It is understood that discipline is defined as the modeling of positive behavior and staff will use positive reinforcement. Through proper discipline, children are able to distinguish for themselves the difference between right and wrong, acceptable and unacceptable behavior. In order to preserve a healthy and safe environment, disciplinary action will be handled as follows: No Tolerance Policy for drugs, alcohol, weapons, fighting, biting, spitting, choking, scratching or destruction of camp equipment. These actions will involve an immediate suspension from camp. First Offense Verbal warning by staff Second Offense Camper will be asked to sit out of the activity for five minutes Third Offense Parent notified for conference with the day camp director and further decisions will be determined at this point Drop Off and Pick Up Drop off for all campers: Pick up for all campers: 8:45 a.m. 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. promptly Drop off and pick up is located at the front of the Beverly Hills High School Swim Gym on Moreno Drive. Daily Sign-In & Out Procedure Parents are required to sign their child in and out of camp at the beginning and end of each camp day in the presence of a staff member on the forms provided. No child will be released to any person not previously authorized in writing by the parent. Parents may also give written permission to allow their child to sign himself/herself out of camp. The note must specify the time and date and where the child will go once they leave camp. Only

individuals indicated on the child s Registration Form can take the child from the facility. Please be sure to update your information form as often as needed. If no one can be reached your child will be sent to extended care, at which time you will be required to pay an additional $15 payable in cash to the instructor. In an effort to prevent this from occurring, please arrange a back-up plan for your child s pick up prior to needing it. Clothing Campers are recommended to come to camp wearing shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. Required clothing to bring to camp includes: swimsuit, goggles, swim cap, towel, pool shoes, socks and closed-toe shoes (preferably tennis shoes or sneakers). Campers will have access to the lockers in the locker rooms, and therefore a combination lock is recommended. Clothes and other items are lost very easily. Please label all items with child s name. Beverly Hills Swim Camp assumes no responsibility for any items that are damaged, lost, misplaced or stolen. Lunch & Snacks Campers must bring a morning snack, a sack lunch, and a drink every day unless otherwise notified. The camp will provide an afternoon snack. A bottled water is also recommended to drink throughout the day. Please put the camper s name on his or her bottle. Please do not send items to be refrigerated or that require heating. Please note there are no vending machines available for campers. Those who do not bring a lunch will be given food that other campers have donated from their own lunches. Personal Property Please do not bring personal items to camp such as electronic devices, DSIs, PSPs, IPODS, cell phones, trading cards, toys, and stuffed animals. These items are not allowed at camp. It is not necessary for campers to have any money. Please note our staff does not assume responsibility for the personal property of any camper. Beverly Hills Swim Camp assumes no responsibility for any items that are damaged, lost, misplaced or stolen. Special Needs Parents must disclose any conditions such as allergies, special needs (e.g. Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger s Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, emotional, developmental and behavioral issues). Children who have special needs and require constant attention will be able to attend with a behavior therapist or shadow, with approval from the camp director. Medication Medications that must be administered daily are the responsibility of the parent. The child must have on file with the Registration Office a Medication Release form signed by the parent

specifically for the medication the child requires. All medication, including simple over-thecounter medication is not allowed at camp, unless previous arrangements have been made with the camp director. No medication will be administered unless it is in a prescription container or original container with the child s name and specific dosage directions on it. The medicine must not be expired. All medication should be given to the camp director. Please do not allow your child to keep medications in their lunch box or backpack as these can easily get into the hands of other campers. If medication is needed such as an Epi-Pen or insulin, please make arrangements with the camp director. Illness To sustain good health amongst all campers, please do not send your child to camp sick. Fevers, diarrhea, runny noses all indicate a communicable disease and can easily spread to staff and other campers. If staff calls to notify you that your child is sick, please pick up promptly for the health of your child and others. Parental Concerns Any questions or concerns parents may have while your child is at camp should be directed first to your child s immediate counselor. The counselor is the primary line of communication. No parent is allowed to confront any child regarding disputes between day campers. Please talk to staff first and a conference will be held to address the situation. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, then please contact the camp director for further discussion. WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND LOOK FORWARD TO A FUN SUMMER!
