The event is organised in the context of SHELTER Project with the support of CECODHAS Housing Europe (www.housingeurope.eu), EBC - The European Builders Confederation (www.eubuilders.org) and ACE - The Architects Council of Europe (www.ace-cae.eu). The aim of SHELTER is to promote and facilitate the use of new models of cooperation, inspired by integrated design, for the energy renovation of social housing. Study Visits 10:30-13:00 Study Trip 1: recommended to Non-for-Profit Section members Working language: EN Voluntary Housing: Sean Treacy House, Buckingham Street, Dublin. This scheme is managed by Circle Voluntary Housing Association on behalf of Dublin City Council. It has won numerous architectural awards including the Irish Council for Social Housing 2011 Community Housing Award, the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland Best Housing 2012 award and it was recognized in the 2013 Civic Trust Awards. The scheme involved the demolition of the existing flat blocks from the 1960s and replacement with a mixed housing development comprising 53 homes, car parking and a community building. and St. Benedict s, Estuary Road, Malahide, Co. Dublin was built and is managed by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. It provides 37 homes for older people capable of independent living. Situated on a 2.5 acre site adjacent to Malahide village, the scheme comprises single storey one and two-bedroom homes, a Community Building, a laundry, quiet room, kitchen, library and meeting area. This project was recognized at the 2009 ICSH Community Housing Awards. 14:00-17:00 Study Trip 2: recommended to Cooperative Section members Working language: EN Co-operative Housing: Avondale Park, Mulhuddart, Dublin 15 - Official opening by Mårten Lilja (President, CECODHAS Housing Europe Co-operative Section) and Nicholas Gazzard (Vice-President, ICA Housing). Join members of NABCO Dublin West Co-operative and NABCO's Childcare and Community Service as they celebrate the opening of a new development of more than 220 environmentally friendly homes with state of the art childcare facilities. 14:00-16:00 Study Trip 3: recommended to Public Section members Working language: EN Public housing: York Street, Dublin 2. Dublin City Council s York Street project involved the building of 66 new homes, a crèche and a community centre in the heart of Dublin s south inner city. The development of the project involved working closely with the local community and ecological design principles were utilised throughout. This housing scheme has won numerous Irish and international design awards. 19:30-22:00 Dinner at restaurant Aqua, 1 West Pier, Howth, Co. Dublin Buses will pick up delegates from the hotel at 19:00 and bring them to the Aqua restaurant. Delegates will be picked up again from the restaurant at approx. 22.30 and returned to the hotel. 5

How to get the meetings venue? Public Transport from Dublin Airport to the Grand Hotel Malahide: The hotel is situated 15-20 minutes from Dublin airport. A taxi will cost approximately 20.00. Alternatively Dublin Bus number 102 runs from the airport and stops just across the road from the hotel. This will take considerably longer, approximately 40 minutes depending on the time of day (Ticket costs under 3.00). Driving Directions from Dublin Airport to the Grand Hotel Malahide: At the first junction/roundabout exiting Dublin Airport take the 2nd LEFT onto Dublin Road/R132 (Direction Sword) Go through 2 roundabouts - 3.4 km At 3rd roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Swords Road/R106, to the RIGHT of the roundabout (Signage for Malahide and Portmarnock) Go through 1 roundabout and straight on- 3.0 km At the red light turn LEFT onto Dublin Road Continue on this road, straight at all 3 sets of red lights - 2km Slight right onto Grove Road, Hotel right in front 20 mt Total journey 9 Km, 10 minute drive.
